Heres the thing, to watch this you are gonna have to be able to handle tons of rape. i'll just be blunt about it there is a large majority of people that will feel so uncomfortable witnessing this amount of sexual trauma that this is definitely not for i'd say even 90% of people probably even more.

Like if you were bothered by goblin slayer or berserks scenes THIS IS 110% NOT FOR YOU. and that's okay when i first read berserks scene i couldnt even sleep well that night i'd never seen anything like it and it evoked a massive emotional response in me. But ... down the road i started to realize that to cause such a reaction from me was actually a positive thing (at least for me) To get an emotional response so intense despite being a not real fantasy story just showed how emotionally invested i was in it.

That being said, this is like those scenes x10, and its not just a one and done you are going to see a dozen or more sex scenes in the first 3-4 episodes (not all are rape) so be prepared for a very sexual adventure especially in the uncensored version.

I personally have read so many stories where the main character won't kill (like one piece a personal favorite) that after years of it i got tired and i wanted anti-heroes and revenge. Not a story about revenge where the MC changes his heart at the last moment but revenge where a person returns what was done to them and then some. Someone who not only doesn't hesitate to get their revenge but they take it so far you start to forget who the villain is.

This fits that bill for me. its just littered with nonstop sex scenes even consensual.

For me the worst or weirdest part of this story is, i read the manga and while it's been the same story for the most part. The manga is actually MUCH MUCH more tame. Is there rape in the manga? Yes but a lot of it is implied rape or a single panel that doesn't show much. The biggest rape scene in the anime is about 1/10th the duration in the manga. The mangas still filled with sex scenes etc. but everything is quicker and a lot of the darker stuff uses implication over blatant visual displays.

I just found it weird that they decided to push these things so far. I still am able to enjoy it but i 100% think the manga is a smaller pill to swallow.

This is for the person who loves anti-heroes and seeing a character actually go through with their revenge.

Too often are stories of revenge filled with moral dilemma and often the lesson of the story is to not take revenge.

This is not that, this is for the person who likes their heroes dark, the person who wants to see the villain pay for their sins and THEN SOME. This is for the person who wants a main character who could be the villain or the hero. Not afraid to kill, not afraid to cross a line, and will do it in unforgettable ways.

I wouldn't recommend ... it for someone who just reads shounen you'd probably wanna break into the darker side of action manga with something else like berserk.

Not that you can't enjoy shounen and enjoy this, This is the 2nd manga i've given a 10/10 score in like 10+ years of reading and 100+ mangas. and the first one was/is one piece which is almost like an ultra-shounen

I'm not a fool, when i read it and scored it there were only 12 or so chapters out, with time this score could easily change as the story develops, and i don't rate it a 10 because i think it is 100% perfect flawless in all ways i rate it a 10 because the amount of enjoyment i got reading just 10 or so chapters left a huge impression.

Where tower of god lacked art and animation the god of high school had in spades.

This is an anime just littered with those intense moments in fights that get you're heart racing.

The downside? While Tower of god lacked art/animation it was able to summarize it's entire prologue of story into 13 episodes fairly well. God of high school has amazing art and animation but it fell flat on the story.

As someone who read it i found myself being like wait, did they just brush over _____ or ____? Like things i felt needed explained like the power system etc were quickly glanced over in order ... to make every episode have an intense fight.

As a reader i could fill in the gaps of information with my knowledge but i watched this with a friend who hadn't read and even though we both were amped during the battles he was left confused by lack of information.

Art and animation fighting wise i'd probably call it the best of the year or up there for sure.

Heres what you need to know if you don't want to read these 20 page papers people wrote about this.

If you havent read tower of god you are in for an Average anime with an average first season and potentially better seasons to come.

If you've read tower of god you are in for 70 chapters of prologue done in 13 episodes. As awful as that sounds i feel like they did a surprisingly good job of it.

It's easy for people to look at this by modern anime standards and be like "THIS WON'T BE BETTER TILL NEXT SEASON? THATS TRASH GARBAGE ETC" but the ... reality is many older long-lasting shounen stories were like this for years. I remember a decade ago i'd recommend an anime and say yea but it doesn't really pick up till the end of the first season around 20+ episodes in and as ridiculous as it sounds that was acceptable back then.

Today an anime needs one of the first episodes/chapters to have a crazy moment that draws you in, and i love those moments and i'm glad anime is that way today and this is the right way to do it IMO.

But the reality is Tower of god is old were talking like 500+ chapters and 10+ Years old back when people were okay with investing 20 episodes into something before they enjoyed it lol.

The real reason tower of god is the most important anime of 2020 and possibly previous years? It's the first korean manhwa to get an anime and if you've read your share of manhwa you know there is a great big world of amazing stories that haven't gotten an anime.

Do you really wanna listen to the review of someone who disliked it so much they wrote a 10 page report on why when despite them disliking it so INTENSELY they still watched the entire season? lol If i disliked a show enough to make it the subject of my thesis i think i would've had the awareness to stop watching a couple episodes in.

So when you read their PAGES of disgust just ask yourself how smart can they really be xD. anyway form your own opinion this is mine.
