This was one anime I was skeptical of beginning because I'm not a big fan of long running anime (most likely a result of watching dragonball and how it takes 3months to show one fight omg). But after having seen 121 episodes so far, I am extremely glad I started.

For simplicity's sake, a list! ^^ kinda...

Likes:
-Funny... through its situations and especially through its characters, Gintama offers so much comic relief. It pokes fun at a lot of issues I never expected could appear in an anime.
-Random... I don't know about the rest of the viewers, but after watching anime after anime that are so ... well fit together, it's such a relief to not have to remember what happened a month ago to keep up.
-Characters... Each character is extremely unique and very well developed.
-Light + Deep... What I mean by this is that while Gintama is comedy, it's not devoid of depth. I feel there is a very good balance of the two.

Dislikes:
-none really... just don't do 100 episode marathons...

Overall I feel Gintama is a sort of comic relief, but deep enough so that at the end of the episode, I don't say "what a waste of my life." Although I had difficulty getting involved for the first 3-4 episodes, now I can barely wait until each episode airs.
If you like sarcasm, odd situations and characters, and something new and unique. I would definitely recommend Gintama, you have nothing to lose :)
