This is the first manga i feel inclined to write a review.
the summary of this story is basically a heart warming romance between two guys (yes, it's BL), a college student, Ikeda Atsushi, who is too kind towards everything and everyone and a violin prodigy, Riya Narukawa. One day, Ikeda found Riya lying on his doorsteps and took him in, only to find Riya waking up with a weird personality, a sloppy eater, a high schooler with no aim. The only clue to him was a violin which was found beside him. However, Ikeda found out that Riya has a split personality, 'white', who is
...
docile and only has the violin, and 'black', who defies and hates his alter ego. the story goes on with Ikeda and Riya facing emotional obstacles as Riya tries to conquer his past and rid his fear of his other existence.
Character:
Ikeda is absolutely gentlemanly. his first impression might be of a boring and common college student, with bad luck chancing upon a 'stray' at his door. But as the story goes, we realise his character is not at all a simple college guy, but rather, an all-giving, self-sacrificing and sophisticated guy as he sticks by Riya, no matter which personality he's facing. He firmly believes that Riya is who he is and that both personalities make up to be him. And even if he has to give up only to receive nothing in the end, he still chose to be beside Riya whenever he needs him.
Riya's character is very complicated to describe. As he has two personalities, it would be safe to say that the author created two characters within one body. even though his personalities are splitted and completely different, the author manages to link both personality together so that in the end, they are in sync with each other. The alter egos are scared of each other, and afraid of what the other might do, but at the same time depends on each other to confirm their existence. If both personalities has one thing in common, it's their fear of their insignificance. It creates this weak and fragile personality that pretends to be strong, yet shouts for people to protect him. However, the author manages to prevent the character from turning too cheesy like the classic doe eyed ukes. He is definitely not the usual annoying i-want-to-beat-the-crap-out-of-you character!
Art:
The characters are drawn delicately. each stroke and line is drawn with precision, and breathed with life. It's as if the characters are alive. While i was reaeding the whole manga, i could almost feel myself in the book, right there where the characters are talking. It's amazing and has been a while since i have this tingling sensation from reading again. Absolutely fantastic drawings. couldn't have done better!
.. what else do i have to write? JUST READ THE SERIES AND FIND YOURSELVES IMMERSED WITHIN THE TOUCHING LOVE STORY OF THESE TWO BOYS.... absolutely marvelous!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
