Hmmm... despite being very exposition heavy and definitely not fleshing out some characters enough I don't think any of that was the point. What most of the backstories and symbolisms point to is the limitless potential the boiling pot of man. The multiple ravenous impulses of indecisiveness and greed and lust and want burrowing and expanding at indeterminate pulses. Exception was something that I was not expecting to be amazing, but my expectations have been duly shattered. This was one of the better anime that's been released in the past year and it almost feels right at home with something that would've been released in the 90's or the early 2000's along with GITS and the like.. it was such a breath air to know that we have people on this earth who can put something out like this. What's so good about it?
It has a philosophy, and it sticks to that and fulfills it by the end. That is what this whole anime ...

Toaru Kagaku no Accelerator felt just like fan service, and with that initial bit of information out of the way you can excuse a lot of stuff like the not-very-good development of the characters. This was made specifically for people who wanted to see more of this character and in that regard it delivers on that promise. Wow, this was the most exciting bit of fan-service i've seen in a while. IMO this should've been about 4-5 episodes with a handful of fights. I know they're making another one with the cliffhanger at the end but still, I wanted to see the Fifth Fang and Gaolong fight someone so bad. One thing that didn't sit right was how a character would just spontaneously know another character's technique or certain characters would know each other, and while this WOULD make sense if they co-existed in the same universe it still annoyed me a little.

They stripped Dante down to his completely basic fundamental elements and complimented that with horrible animation and no narrative drive whatsoever. A big component in making a successful adaptation to a movie or anime or whatever medium you choose is making it stand on its own. If you don't do that, it just comes off as mindless promotional material (which it is.) I like to imagine this is exactly what happened and what they were thinking because on first thought, who wouldn't want to watch the upcoming Devil May Cry anime series???

I think I wanted to write a review in defense of this because it's so harmless. I think a lot of the action segments were cool to look at and while the writing isn't in-depth by any measure of the word (I think the main character should of had his motivations more fleshed out in this movie) it is not THAT bad. This isn't a full length movie either with it being about 50 minutes.
I treated this like a superhero movie. The story is not that good and the characterization was shallow but it's whatever it's dumb, it's fun, there is no reason for ...

The main draw of this manga is the art no doubt about it. I think anybody who's interested in that shoujo manga/visual novel style would appreciate it. The depictions of angelic beauty coupled with the moe cutesy art is a combination to die for. The panels at the end of them in space were among some of my favorites. The story is also good even if it's short, although some parts feel like they jump to one situation from another way too soon. There isn't many critiques I can make it really stands up to the present and doesn't feel dated at all! read it!
