In every single anime. great ones such as Fullmetal Alchemist all the way to shit ones likes SAO. We already know more-or-less the general ending. The hero prevails even under the most unlikely scenario...every...time.
Many are those who say that One Punch Man is too predictable. Well I say One Punch Man is just more direct than other anime. OPM does away with the tease of power struggles and focuses on more important and unpredictable immersions which we would not love OPM without. We know Saitama always wins, but what about the world around him? What goes on inside people's minds? His reactions to society's
...
construct and behavior? The roles of others in times of turmoil? Human interactions among heroes?
Doing away with the power-struggle, One Punch Man was able to concentrate on these ideas that we can all relate to while having a blast watching Saitama completely annihilate every big-mouth in one spectacular punch. It's pure entertainment.
Oh whats that? You wanted to see struggle? The hero in danger? Well just look at Genos! A hero who's strong and badass enough, yet gets ripped to shreds in almost every one of his fights. You can always just concentrate on the other heroes and appreciate their struggle, but just know that at the end of the episode the heroes have to prevail so One Punch Man jumps into action and makes the good ending we've come to expect. Oh shit One Punch Man is also the name of the anime? Am I thinking about this too much? Is Saitama just a symbol for inevitable good endings in all anime? Is he bored of good endings because he for once wants the thrill of not knowing the outcome? Is there an alternative? Is this shit stupid? Yea this paragraph is pretty bad I should end the review.
As much as I enjoyed these 12 episodes, I would not be rating this season a 10 if a sequel was not on its way. Despite being 12 amazing episodes, One Punch Man hasn't expanded far enough into some crucial character development which it can definitely do with more time.
The music and the animation are perfectly fitting and always nails the tone and the feeling it's going for especially during the awesome fights.
PS - I know I haven't written much, but who actually reads past the 2nd or 3rd paragraph in a positive review that doesn't make you piss your pants like many SAO and other series prone to MAL's best comedic writers.
I just a guy who's writing this review for fun.

Of all the anime to air in 2014, I think Akame ga Kill was the most dissapointing. Not because it was the worst, but because unlike the other overhyped shows of 2014, Akame ga Kill was actually "good" up until the last couple episodes. It's yet another reminder, along with Claymore and Guilty Crown, of how a bad enough ending can ruin an entire anime. However I tend to be more forgiving than many here on MAL and look at the whole content. I don't feel the slew of reviews giving this anime a 3 are fair.
Let's begin with the bad
The worst thing about
...
AgK is the anticlimactic conclusion. I could expand on the absurdity of the anime-original ending and compare it to the manga in terms of character development and story, but it would alienate the anime-only viewers and become a comparison rather than a review.
So aside from a botched ending, the entire anime suffers from under-developed main characters and a lack of purpose from the evil prime minister who is despicable for the sake of being despicable. The show is called Akame ga Kill so you'd expect Akame to be a real standout character right? Wrong! Akame has very little to no depth and gets ridiculously little screentime for a "main character". Although there are hints about her past (maybe the author's way of saying "go read AgK Zero"?). Anyways, the "bad" here is that she wasn't the real main character. That position went to Tatsumi! He's far less interesting than the under-developed supporting characters and I feel the whole series would have been better off without him. That's not to say I hate him, I just feel very indifferent towards him (even his design is bland).
The other major problem are the (frequent) death scenes in the anime. If there is something anime taught me, it's that you don't need a highly developed character to make a death scene emotional. I don't think the issue in AgK was that the supporting character weren't developed enough, but rather the execution of their death's was poorly done. With the exception of a few (I will not spoil who).
So what's good about Akame ga Kill? After all I'm giving it a 7/10 so there are good things I want to point out.
For the most part (original ending excluded), the anime has real good pacing. Things happen chronologically and smoothly enough that you want to watch what happens next. The supporting characters, despite being too numerous to develop, are enjoyable to watch whether it be for their personalities or for their respective imperial arms (some being pretty awesome). This one may be subjective, but Esdeath is a major asset to the anime whether or not you like her. Her introduction propelled the show to higher ground and of all the characters she was by far the most developed. Plus I can't really think of any anime character that is comparable to Esdeath in terms of personality and presence. Lastly, the anime did a great job making the opposing faction "The Jaegers" likeable.
The animation is ok, but could be a lot better. The intense and eye-candy colors almost make up for the animation
The OST is surprisingly good with a handful of them being remarkable: "Yume Monogatari", "I’ve got to go home", "Meeting with Everyone", "Le chant de Roma", "Friend's Feelings"
Akame ga Kill had a lot of potential which fell short. It successfully built up to a climax and then lost the audience. Nonetheless it was a very fun ride with unpredictablility at every corner.

Remember when you were little and you tried to bake that really awesome cake following the instructions on a cooking-book and ended up forgetting half the ingredients or using the wrong ones and the cake looked like complete shit and shit was all over the kitchen and then your mother walked in and slapped you across the face? Whether or not you remember, if you can picture that scenario then you can picture how Studio Pierrot's attempt at adapting Tokyo Ghoul into an anime unfolded.
Lets actually start off with the "good" in Tokyo Ghoul. Why? Because it's one sentence long so lets get it
...
out of the way shall we.
The soundtrack is decent. The opening theme is good, and the ending theme is pretty catchy. Ok so that was two sentences.
I'm going to fess up now and admit that I have not read the manga although I'm aware that it's a lot better and that they crammed 60 chapters into 12 episodes. This review will be based on the anime alone, which I believe is more correct then the people giving this adaption a break solely for their admiration of the manga.
The worst aspect of Tokyo Ghoul are the characters and their development. Frankly I'm not going to talk about any of the characters aside from Kaneki because there is nothing to say about them after 12 episodes.
Kaneki is worth talking about because he is a boy born with a vagina..oh and he is a also a half-ghoul, almost forgot about that. As the MC of Tokyo Ghoul, Kaneki's main role is to disappoint us to death, cry a lot, and bitch a lot about how much he sucks.
With the characters being so dreadful, the anime relied heavily on the plot and the violence. The plot is very broad in the anime: Humans vs Ghouls and Ghouls vs Ghouls. At least that's what I got from 12 episodes adapted from 60 chapters. The violence is censored so that sucks, but apparently the DVD versions will be uncensored..cool, anyways moving on. The most pretentious thing about Tokyo Ghoul are the attempts at emotionally moving the audience by having some characters we know nothing about die and seeing other characters feel sad while the soundtrack playing assures us that this is indeed meant to be an emotional scene...awkward.
So about right now you're probably thinking to yourself that I don't have much to say about this anime. I just felt like reviewing this anime cause I wanted to write down that whole baking a cake comparison after which my passion ran out. This is much like the folks at Studio Pierrot. They had no passion whatsoever in the making of this anime, taking advantage of the fact that the manga is extremely popular and doing the most minimalist job possible.
With all this I thought I would take joy in witnessing how badly this train-wreck could end, and to my surprise they actually took that pleasure from me as well. The last 10 minutes of the last episode were legitimately entertaining. Right at the end, the show introduced moral ideas worthy of involving the audience and I found myself enjoying Tokyo Ghoul for the first time. What a bunch of trolls eh.

My friends,
It has often been said that I like Hellsing Ultimate. My friends, I like Hellsing Ultimate…NO. Friends, I LOVE!! HELLSING ULTIMATE! I love the dark animation, I love the gore, I love the action, I love the charismatic characters, the accents, I love the bombastic plot and dialogue! I love any like-minded quality anime that can exist upon this Earth!
I love watching ghouls, vampires and mercenaries clashing in an all-out VAR within the Victorian hallways of the Hellsing estate. My heart leaps with joy whenever a soldier’s limps are blown off followed by screams of agonizing pain. And there is nothing like
...
a British vampire chick dual wielding artillery canons to rain hell upon the mightiest engines of war, UND the feeling that comes when a vampire runs away screaming from Alucard only to be slaughtered in the most gruesome way imaginable... is such... an exquisite feeling. Like when ranks of mercenaries sign up to hunt vampires and ghouls using silver bullets. It moves me deep within my heart to see an entire squadron of innocent SWAT forces butchered mercilessly by none other than the MC in their final moments of shock and despair. The sight of haters being made fun of on the forums for their ridicule subjective criticism is an irresistible pleasure. And there is nothing more arousing then the major’s awe-inspiring war-speech which is still resonating with grandeur in your heads at this very moment. When a band of pitiful resistance fighters make their final stand with nothing but small arms only to have their city destroyed and their guts disemboweled by a thousand paratrooper vampire Nazis, I’m in ecstasy. I love it when my favorite factions are ravaged by enemy Nazi bastards. It’s so sad to see characters I had held onto dearly meet their tragic fates, their friends and comrades ripped in half gasping for their last breaths. I love to be squashed under the heel of the Nazi and Vatican war dogs, the humiliation as my men crawl around like vermin, hiding and taking cheap shots from walled corners.
Gentlemen, all I ask for is more Hellsing Ultimate. An anime so grand as to make hell itself tremble. Gentlemen…I ask you as fellow brothers in arms what is it that you really want? Do you wish for further anime like this as I do? Do you wish for a merciless bloody anime? Anime whose fury is built with iron and lightning and fire? DO YOU ASK FOR ANIME TO SWEEP IN LIKE A TEMPEST, LEAVING NOT EVEN CRITICS TO SCAVENGE FROM THIS EARTH!!!
