Two things to note: 1, this is an isekai, so naturally it follows *some* of the main formulas, 2, the characters are based off two movies that weren't exactly a hit.
That said, it is enjoyable to watch. While it is isekai, it goes against some of the tropes to say the least. Most isekai (at least, modern isekai) consist of dead characters who are leading new lives (often with a harem) or are focused on leveling, skills, etc., whereas in this case they simply want to get the job done and go home. They're not interested in dating or building a harem or leveling up.
...
They just want to get back to their world.
Unlike their real world though, both the main cast and enemies have gained more skills upon entering this world - particularly the ones with magical powers to begin with. It is fun seeing this group of anti-heroes in an isekai world since they go against many of the norms associated with the genre.
The characters are essentially the same as they are in the movies, with some lines even being repeated.
Art is good. Music is lackluster at times, but very fitting at other times.
Altogether, I give a 7/10, which is higher than the 4/10 or 5/10 I'd give to a normal isekai. This is because it goes doesn't reuse the typical isekai tropes that have plagued the anime world for the past few years with massive amounts of isekai coming out and using the exact same formulas. Plus, it is enjoyable to watch as a DC fan.
If you like the Suicide Squad characters, you'll likely enjoy this as it stays true to their character.

I had this on my plan to watch, and it was a listed anime for a Summer Stack Challenge so I ended up watching it. Sports anime are ones I've not watched a great deal of, but I have watched a few and am aware of the cliches and tropes. Well, for the most part. Plenty cliches were overused, but, still, didn't really retract from the entertainment of it.
This anime has majority of the cliches and tropes that are in sport anime, but they didn't necessarily subtract from the anime. Yowamushi Pedal has the same recipe as the rest, but it does it well.
...
That said, what messed up the anime for me was storytelling and pace - which I assume was the same in the manga. Overall, I would recommend viewers who like such genres to watch it, but I have mixed feelings due to how the second half of the season was handled.
Storytelling and Pace: For the first half of the season the show had good pacing and storytelling; however, it became somewhat of an annoyance around the second half. Prior to the second half, there is a 4-day camp to test who will enter the competition - which lasts 6 episodes. 6 episodes for 4 days is reasonable timewise. That said, nearly 20 episodes are spent on the 3-day race. Why? Because half of the time in each episode is dedicated to a flashback, or massive amounts of inner and/or outer monologuing. Basically, half the second arc is either a flashback or the riders talking during the race. The number of flashbacks and monologues during the second half is exhausting at best.
Flashbacks would've been better if they had been more appropriately placed. If most of them occurred during training, it would've been more fitting. Having flashbacks and nonstop talking during a race makes it impossible to really enjoy the sport aspect. Anime that wastes time during important moments may seem like a good idea to keep people waiting and guessing, but as a sport anime, it simply serves to hold back from the theme. In moderation, it is fine, but there is no moderation when it comes to flashbacks and monologues in the second part. In addition, half the runtime of 3 episodes of the second part of the season was a dude monologuing about his abs. That part wasn't funny, nor was it a useful to add to the story. It was just a joke that failed to deliver and humor, along with wasting time for the actual sporting event. He literally spent minutes talking to his muscles. Episode after episode. Those were a slow 3 episodes - watching flashbacks of him working for his abs, him talking about his abs, etc... yeah, you get the picture. Adds absolutely nothing to the story other than the fact that he - like EVERYONE else, worked hard.
Characters: As for the characters, most of them easy to like...except sadly the main character. His determination at times is nice, and his caring nature, however, it isn't until episode 30+ that he stops having a mental breakdown and begins doubting himself the moment something goes wrong. The antagonist character is quite annoying. Antagonist characters can be terrible people and still likeable at the same time, which makes for some fun antagonists. This is not the case. The antagonist in this is very easy to dislike, which is kind of a dull bit, given antagonists can be very fun characters when written well. Other than that, the other characters are likeable.
Music: It was there...
Art and Animation: Majority of the art and animation was great. However, they reused the exact same sky scene so many times within a 15 episode timespan that the image is now burnt into my head. That was just lazy.
I will watch the next season as I did enjoy the season. For those who enjoy sports anime, you'll probably enjoy this, cliches included. Though, be prepared for the enormous amounts of flashbacks and unnecessarily large number of monologues in the second part. I really wanted to give this show's first season a 7, but the second half of the season really just was nowhere near the first half. The second half was a bit of a struggle, but I wanted to see the results, and preserved through this slow section of the story. Since I too, like the athletes had to struggle to finish....I'll give season one a 6. It was fine, as it wasn't necessarily good.
Lastly, another reason why this won't be getting anything beyond 6 is because by the end of the season, it is a cliffhanger, which is completely unnecessary given the race should've already been over. I don't mind the cliffhanger; it is 2024 and I can watch the next season immediately. The reason this is off-putting is the fact that this arc is STILL going despite the fact that it should've been over by now and should instead have ended on a cliffhanger that was gearing towards another goal.

This anime started off strong and continued that way throughout the series until the finale. I felt really let down by the ending. For viewers who want to see a horror anime or vampire anime, this is probably a good choice, but sadly it just fizzles out towards the end. I liked it, but it certainly fails as the story progresses.
The pacing become a bit too fast and so does the storyline. Not only that, but some of the things presented aren't fleshed out enough to consider it truly enjoyable. I'd certainly rather watch "Another", even with the lower episode count, as it actually fleshes

This anime certainly wasn't one meant to deliver much of a story. Yes, there is a plot, and yes, it does explore the plot, but it more so explores the cast. The first tag is comedy, and that is pretty much all it was meant to be. The "plot" is mainly just there to serve as a basis for the jokes and comedy that comes with it.
What makes this show funny is just how weird the cast is. The main character, Yuuko, is in extreme poverty. When she learns of her family's history from her mother, she accepts what comes with it. Oddly, even
...
to her, is how easily all her friends take it when she's telling them why she suddenly has horns and a tail. One also nonchalantly mentions how there's a magical girl in the same school. Even the main character is perplexed at just how odd things are.
Part of what makes it funny is just *how* odd the cast is. None of them act as if anything supernatural is out of the ordinary, and embrace it.
Rather than battling her enemy, Momo, a magical girl, Momo essentially tricks her into becoming friends with her. It would be difficult for any of this to be a spoiler, because it is easy to tell from the beginning how everything will go.
This is purely meant to be a comedy. As stated, yes, there's a plot, but I think that is mainly to establish a basis for the humor.
Art: 7/10 - Good, but fairly average. I won't label below 7 because these days most art in anime is pretty good.
Music: ??/10 - Not really there...
Voice actors: 9/10 - all did a great job at elevating the characters' voices. The mother I especially find to have a voice that greatly fits her character.
Plot: 7/10 - The overall plot is just a way to establish the humor, but it is still a funny and good plot. Pretty average I'd say.
I suppose how much someone would like this depends largely on their sense of humor, because that is what this show is primarily about.

If you like the show, you'll also like the manga. You'll also find the movie adaptation in vol 7, 8, and 9. Since the series never got a full anime adaptation, you'll need to read this if you want to find any kind of conclusion to the series. That said, a *true* conclusion isn't necessarily...fully there.
While there is a conclusion that leaves enough information to fill in some of the blanks, sadly the ending really didn't answer many things. (Not really sure if that is a spoiler??) It answered a few questions, but ultimately much more is still left unanswered. The ending itself literally
...
feels like an unfinished chapter/episode/whatever. It feels as if the story could pick back up at any moment with the given ending, but it never did and was deemed complete.
Whatever the case, if you want to know more beyond season 2 and the movie (which yes, is canon), then you'll most likely enjoy the manga. The story continues similarly to how it was in the anime. Usually whacky antics mixed in with some slice of life, crazy alien/time traveler stuff, some closed space stuff, etc. And yes, what happened in the movie that was left unexplained is shown in the manga.
I have no complaints about the art or pacing really. It seemed to fulfill its role. Although, an ending or more stuff explained would've been nice...
This would certainly be a good read if you're looking for something with a little bit of slice of life, some comedy, supernatural, and romance and action sprinkled in. It is an odd mix that somehow fits cohesively together. If you haven't seen the anime and don't know anything about it, then I can assure you there are plenty of aspects involving time travel, weird events that one would consider either magic/supernatural/alien. There are also plenty of fun moments between the characters, and a subtle amount of romance. There's a little more action than there is romance, but overall those two categories are the one's most lacking. They still all come together though.
If you're juggling between reading and not reading it, I'd say go for it.

Time looping done right.
It can be tricky to pull off time loops without being too repetitive, but in this case each time we are presented with new circumstances and information.
I came across this anime without much expectations, because I didn't even read the synopsis. It was on my "plan to watch", but I had completely forgotten about it being on there. Anyhow, I certainly do not regret watching this.
The art and music weren't particularly anything special, but the story and how it was executed was done very well.
Each of the main protagonists are easy to like, and there is plenty of
...
screen time for each of them.
The story revolves around the main protagonists looping through a series of events based off of the main character's ability to go back in time in order to try to prevent what is supposed to happen at the end of the loops. This is learned on episode 1, so I don't think that counts as a spoiler...
Anyhow, as stated, despite it being essentially a time-loop type anime, it avoids being repetitive and boring. Keep in mind this is a 25 episode show, so it certainly couldn't repeat the same stuff constantly. Anyone who saw the "Endless Eight" portion of Haruhi Suzumiya knows what I mean...In this show, each loop is pretty different in one way or another, and you're constantly being fed more information. It doesn't get repetitive or boring because of the looping.
The tags of mystery, supernatural, and suspense are indeed true, but it isn't a horror anime, which seems to have confused some reviewers, despite it not being labeled as horror.... It is dark in many ways, yes, but it isn't a horror anime, nor is it labeled as such.
This is a solid show, with a well executed story, and doesn't fall flat during the climax or ending of the show.

I'll leave just a short review...
It was okay, but certainly had more potential that was not lived up to. If the story was paced differently and executed differently, the idea would've made for a good show. Unfortunately, it did not execute properly and had a rushed and lackluster finale to say the least.
The story itself was decent, just poorly executed.
The characters were likable, but like the story, fell flat due to execution and pacing. Things were too rushed to really get much out of the characters, especially given how little they were developed in such a time span.
Wouldn't watch again nor recommend unless you're
...
very bored.
Starts off good so you don't realize you've wasted your time until the last two episodes or so...So, you may enjoy it for the first half, and even well into the second half, but the last few episodes fail to develop the characters and story in a way the makes it worth the watch, and ultimately falls flat.

Before I even watched the show, I already have thoughts as to how I thought it would be. I always try to push past those thoughts, because that is how I have found some of the best anime I've seen. Sometimes there is much more than meets the eye.
Initially I thought the art would be the hardest to accept because I have a massively hard time enjoying an anime that has animation similar to a video game.
Interestingly, I realized that I did really enjoy the artwork, as well as the special effects. Usually anime that have game-type animation aren't my style to say the
...
very least, but I ended up enjoying it to my extreme shock. Some may find it to be the same for themselves.
I felt that it brought a lot of interesting material to the table. In season 1 you learn bits and pieces of things, but the way everything is played out gives me a decent enough reason to give a good score for it's story line.
In many ways it holds similarities to Tokyo Ghoul. The character must learn to cope with something he never had to before, he has to isolate himself from the world, especially cops, AND lastly, though he tries to remain "human" for the most part, he has lost what makes him human. In both shows, the characters must adapt to a new form of life.
Back onto season 1...Season 1 was interesting in my opinion. The pacing was right, the characters were interesting, and the art was pretty good. I am hoping season 2 is a bit more exciting, but the show did manage to keep me entertained enough to finish it quickly.
Just make sure to watch it in 720px or 1080px because I imagine that the art would look pretty rough in a lower quality...
