I picked this up blind so I didn't know what i was getting into.

I typically dislike ecchi shows, on the grounds that all they have on offer is boobs and not much else, which makes it a very boring watch.

IR doesn't suffer from this, as it offers comedy. A very dirty, smutty, absurd comedy, that has some subtle elements of seriousness that would be missed by those turned off by the raunchiness.

Its world building is more fleshed out than a typical ecchi, not too exposition heavy, with characters having more personality than some MC of titular shows.

The ecchi thematically fits in, due to how they're ... reviewing brothels. Unlike battle or romance ecchi, which detracts and distracts and is very ham fisted, in IR it enhances, because at it's core, sex is the focus.

It's a comedy anime, with thematically correct use of ecchi, doesn't take itself too seriously, and most importantly: is just fun.

The score before the rise was sitting at > 7.5, which is already good territory. (i think anything below 7 isn't worth watching). As typically ecchi do not go above 7, this is pretty unprecedented. Seems people were enjoying this

The recent 10/10 spam really follows the spirit of how fun loving this anime is, well until it all went toxic as it started encroaching on #1 spot. Which is expected, puritans and degenerates are two sides of the same coin, and are fiercely defensive about their taste, so completely expected outcome. Throw in other anime fans and bandwagoners, it's a shitshow.

Personally, it's an 8. However it's a 10 in pure enjoyment on how it subverted my expectation of what an ecchi anime can offer, especially one that's almost hentai.
