This is the Rick and Morty of anime. I thought it was really deep when I was 15, but the nihilistic message is a bit immature (for lack of a better word). There are some pretty good fights between the mechs and the angels and some great designs, but you'll spend a lot more time sitting through annoying characters and cringey sex jokes, especially in the early episodes. It's just not really my cup of tea anymore.
The movie is pretty good though, just watch that (Or read Devilman, it inspired Eva and is way better if you're looking for something that'll scratch the same
