This story is so beautiful to me, i have seen it so many times. upon first viewing i didn't understand or appreciate it because i was too young, but coming back after a few years I was able to see it in a different light. what i love about the story is that despite it being an allegory for something that happened in the 40's the themes present, like greed, power, and corruption especially at the hand of the government are still so present and hold up. making the movie timelessly relatable. In addition the art work is a gold standard, the amount of detail ... especially being hand drawn is astounding and will always be iconic.

honestly, this was a manga I had read years ago and revisited because I noticed it was finally finished. that being said rereading it the second time at an older age I realized how weak the story line and characters were. I also not a fan of harems tbh. but i think the character development was super rushed and unfinished, the MC sucked but every few chapters somehow new girls fell for him and he would act like he was in love, but in the first few chapters he even got called on it and still never changed his ways. the girls were also very ... 2d and shallow and obvi only were in the story to boost mc ego. they built up this weird storyline with impotence, alluding that maybe if MC loves the girl he hooks up with he will be cured which couldve been a little cuter and made the MC's love feel less shallow, but no they made him fuck the girl whose dating his brother, while supposedly loving the other girl? and there were no repercussions for him cheating on her? the length could be a reason it feels so rushed and open ended but at the same time, i found myself wanting it to be over, i just felt it couldve been interesting if they focused on one relationship rather than introducing a ton only to drop them a few chaps later.

This story was soo good, around chapter 70 I was worried about the story ending abruptly because I noticed there were only 90 chapters but I'm so glad the story isnt finished, I just hope that new chapters will come out soon, because I really wanna see more from nomiya and the three musketeers. they were my favorite characters. I def didn;t expect to cry as often as i did with this series but they way they depicted each characters trauma and their resilience and persistence to overcome their obstacles was so powerful, the shiratori arc with broom made me bawllllll T-T as did Nomiya ... at tryouts. def one of my new favorite series. also the art is amazing. nomiya was looking hot as fuck when he popped up on takahashi and showed off his 6 pack lmaooo. im also very interested in where the storyline will go between nomiya and the girl.

I think overall the series was really good. I loved the korea japan cross over and found the story to be quite refreshing from the typical gang manga. if I were to rate the story it was great up until the final arc. The authors story line went to shit at that point. he started killing off people left and right and left major characters storylines completely open and unanswered like the graves at the end.. I also don't understand why they felt the need to add a major betrayal like 5 chapters before the end... so rushed. ... Him giving her all the companies and money in the end made me mad. she literally did nothing but hurt him, she betrayed him and indirectly was the reason many of his close friends died. she was selfish as fuck
