Nobunaga Concerto

Both series take place in Ancient Asia (Kingdom in China; Nobunaga in Japan) and depicts the journey of one man looking to conquer and unite the whole of China/Japan respectively. However, Kingdom pays more attention to actual battles and strategies as it's main character is a boy looking to become a legendary general, not the King himself. Nobunaga does not have enough episodes to afford doing that. Both are great historical animes.
