Depression over what? The boy's mother died when he was 3 and he was sent by his father to live with his teacher with occasional visits from time to time. Those years of his life afterwords are barely explained.

I know a 3 year old girl whose parents died in a murder suicide after her father went on a rampage and killed her mother after mutilating her brother with a knife. That child has no one to rely on and she is most likely going to be sent to different foster homes for the rest of her life. She is not going to have the pleasure of living with a sexy alcoholic and her pet penguin to cook food for them. That is something to be depressed about

I am of the opinion that there are much worse shows out there like Kaguya Sama or Wandering Kenshin but Evangelion gives me the most negative reaction.
