Of course BONES was the production studio behind this, this is a sci-fi with a complicated looking plot. Or so I thought before watching the series.
It may look like another cool sci-fi adaptation but what's intersting about the story is that while the premise is interesting, the characters relationships seem to be the focus of the anime. This is definitely original - quite a few of the episodes actually have more of a slice-of-life feel to them rather than sci-fi - but whether it satisfies all tastes is a matter of opinion. Think western fairy tail meets ecchi love triangle story and you get Pajama na Kanojo.
A story about a girl who falls into a coma but her spirit is still visible to her childhood friend, who in the mean time is trying to find away to bring her back into the world. Whilst he tries, he keeps running into a series of misunderstandings with the most beautiful girl in his school. The artwork for the manga is very typical with romances, especially with ecchi romances - so expect a lot of graphic drawings. Not going to lie, I picked this manga up while I was waiting for the next chapter of Bakuman was out. Even though I decided I was going to read it, when I saw it had an anime I figured that would be a faster way to decide whether the series would be worthwile.

Unlike most romances that run in Weekly Shonen Jump (classics include I''s, Ichigo 100% and To Love-Ru), this series focuses more on comedy than on being an ecchi series.
The story is not 100% original but that's to be expected since the use of love triangles is a pillar of shonen romances, yet still manages to be amusing and good to read as a general romance. The artwork of course is less "romance" and more "slice of life" and it fits surprisingly well with the story which is made even more amusing by the characters. This manga might not make your top 10 list, but it is ...

Best phrase to describe this series is: surprising.
During these 8 episodes you will be freaked out, sad, laughing and only during the last 2 episodes will you come to fully comprehend the plot of the series. All that being said, the strong points of this anime besides it's ever changing plot are the battle scenes, the display of characters emotions and the general flow of the story. BRS is almost like the Japanese attempt to capture the genre Magical Realism in animated form. How you will react towards the ending is dependant on the individual but as a whole the anime is worth watching.

If I was asked why Bakuman is such a good manga, I wouldn't be able to give a single answer to the question.
Simply put the story is a nice slice of life with added elements of rivalry and overcoming hardships but Ohba and Obata, the duo that brought us Death Note have truly made it a case of "the pen is mightier than the sword." Sure Bakuman might not be as shonen as Bleach, Naruto, One Piece, Toriko etc. (all of which it has to compete with since it's serialised in the same magazine) but way the story, the characters and the artwork mixes is ...

So rather drastic change for Hiromu Arakawa going from Fullmetal Alchemist to Gin no Saji but if you were to consult her wikipedia page you would see that something like this is right up her street.
A story about a boy who moves to the countryside to attend an agricultural high school does seem to fall exactly into the slice of life category but this manga is somewhat different (just like Bakuman). The surprising mix of technical vocabulary or discussions, ethical issues such as euthanasia and a look at agricultural life from a teenager's perspective give the manga something new alongside the usual slice of life elements ...

What makes this manga enjoyable is primarily the characters and the comedy that is associated with them.
Of course the story tends to follow that of any regular team sports story and as with some shounen sports series like Prince of Tennis, we some impossible moves but when reading this manga all you really concentrate on are the well placed cliffhangers and the enjoyment you get from reading how the protagonists prevail in the next few chapters. This is probably the only sports manga I have gone back to re-read at least 3 times, simply because of it's light-hearted style, comedy and art work.

I would just like to say that squall69r should read the guidelines for reviews before rudely commenting on others revews.
The plot which they used from the manga (chapters 58-68) was an important turning point. More than that the OVA made me see this arc from a different perspective, which is great since watching something I have read and knowing exactly how it'll turn out is boring. Yes the animation does seem to have made the characters rather different and well, worse than they are portrayed in the actual manga but when looking at the bigger picture it didn't really matter.
