Akatsuki no Yona

Both anime share a lot of common traits. They're stories focused on the break of a trio of friends, very close since childhood times. There is the girl who has an important political/religious role in their society (Yona / Sasha); the strong warrior who protects her, being in lower hierarchy (Hak / Tenma); and the fragile corrupted villain (Soo Won / Alone). While the plot of Akatsuki no Yona follows her journey to find her warriors (the Dragons), Lost Canvas focuses on the fights between the warriors (Saints) of Sasha and Alone themselves. Of course, there is much more involved. Yona happens in a fictional ancient Korea. TLC, on the other side, happens in Greece/Italy in the XVIII century, few years before French Revolution. You'll find GREAT character development in both series, also stunning animation and amazing soundtrack. The storyline itself is very well made (both have female authors). Not to mention the awesome mythogy behind the manga, since one is quite original (with some elements that resemble Fushigi Yuugi and Avatar) and the other has Kurumada's Saint Seiya as base. Those are two epics I highly recommend to anyone interested in a breath-taking story, with charismatic characters and great anime adaptation. If you're a fan of one of those series, then you must watch the other one. (Btw, I'm 100% sure Shin-Ah's master is Deuteros <.<)

Both series share the same premise: a group of warriors have to protect a girl of divine nature. In Saint Seiya those warriors are called "saints", who figh according to the occidental constellations, as they serve the incarnation of the goddess Athena, Saori. In Fushigi Yuugi, they are called "seishis", fighting by the chinese constellations, in order to protect Miaka, god Suzaku's proxy. While Saint Seiya focuses on the battles themselves, Fushigi Yuugi's attention is driven more to the characters drama. All have epic fights and memorable characters, who often have to fight another deities warriors. However, they may contain some disturbing scenes as well.
