This isn't the first time we get to see the story of an abused female character fortunately finding a man who loves and cares for her despite his "cruel" reputation. So I think it's fair to say the premise and majority of the storyline are quite antiquated.
However, I enjoyed watching Miyo & Kudo's relationship blossom and I love that Miyo finally got to be with people who love & appreciate her. There's a larger political scheme going on so I'm excited to see how that goes.
All of the characters need more development (including our main girl since so far her only personality trait is
...
that she was abused...which is a major turn off for me). I'd like to know more about Miyo's maternal family whose origin seems to play an important part in the story later. I'd also like to know how Kudo garnered such a reputation; Koji's journey to become more assertive; and Kaya as her life really took a turn near the end of the season. I'm also curious about the magic system here.
Apart from that, the art style is beautiful but not distinctive; the music didn't leave much impression on me and the voice acting is generally good.
Overall, this is an easy watch, I'd recommend if you're in to the "girl escaping abuse and finding true love" trope, or if you're into a love story with a little bit of magic. But if you decide to skip this one, I'll say you're not really missing anything too special.

I made a review on this show before but had to update since I've just finished rewatching it after a really long time. And it's so much better than I'd remembered. This show got real serious real fast though it may not seem like it at the beginning. It's truly a must-see imo.
What I LOVE abt this show:
- Most of the CHARACTERs all have their individual and memorable traits, even some of the side ones. This is one show that it's pretty impossible to hate any character.
- Every main (and some of the side) character has their own backSTORY that's followed through to the
...
end. I legit cried a few times over the course of 13 eps. It's very unique yet natural in the way each character's story is unravelled and oh man the twist... Hits me hard every time.
- nice MUSIC, its a big part of the world-building. It gives a distinguished ambien to the show. Some of the songs can be heartbreaking due to their association with some of the stories and their meaningful lyrics.
- great ART as you all can see
What I DIDN'T LOVE:
- it gets a little rushed toward the ending. I recently found out it was supposed to be 26eps but then was cut short against the creator's wishes so may be that's why it felt rushed and a lot of characters didn't have the chance to be explored.
I watched the show during a dark time in my life and it did drag me out of my depressive episodes so kudos to that as well!
Hope this review helps!

This has got to be one of my favorite anime of all time! Every once in a while I'd rewatch and still get the same enjoyment out of this show. If you want a cute, funny, light-hearted anime with interesting characters, you'll love this one.
The premise is pretty simple: girl has a crush on boy, girl confesses, boy misunderstands, and the comedy ensues. Of course there's much more to it than that but you'll have to watch ;)
I'd say this anime both leans into and defies the tropes at the same time. It surprises me almost every time. Just when I think a situation's
...
going in one way, it makes a sharp turn and goes in another.
What I LOVE the most must be the CHARACTERS. Each is unique and I'd say equally funny in their own way and gets a reasonable amount of screen time for me to grow attached to them. Even now when I think about them, they still make me smile. I also like the character design.
The OP & ED songs slap ngl.
The anime only has 12 eps but the manga continues still. I'd still want another season of anime if possible but there are no signs of that :(

Just finished the series roughly a month ago... It was much better than I'd thought. This anime'd been popping up in my recommendations for years now. I paid little attention to it after finishing Hyouka and immediately looked for something similar. To be short, if you like Hyouka, there's a high chance you'll like Gosick:
- the STORY takes on surprisingly serious and dare I say disturbing subjects yet strangely enticing. Each mystery's presented and resolved in about 2-3 eps and they're all kind of connected which definitely helps the world-building become more like a "real" place.
- I didn't enjoy the PACING of the 2nd
...
half, sometimes too hasty and sometimes scenes drag on forever.
- Overall, the MESSAGE of friendship is endearing, I did enjoy the chemistry between the 2 main CHARACTERS and their growth journeys, despite some of the tropes. Most of the remaining chars are kind of a snooze-fest.
- forgettable MUSIC
- decent yet not too impressive ART. I did like the garden scenes very much though.
Hope the review helps!

I see this anime is compared to Amagami SS a lot. I haven't seen Amagami SS so I won't be able to make that kind of comparison and personally I don't feel the need to since Seiren is an anime that stands alone and should be allowed to convey its story in its own way. I personally enjoy Seiren very much even though I've only finished till episode 9. Really looking forward to the rest of it.
- The ART is beautiful and compelling. The lighting gives you a sense of pureness and warmth.
- The STORY is light-hearted and not exactly the highlight of the
...
series. Nevertheless, the simple story line is to compliment the personality of the characters.
- CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT is very little and isn't what impresses me, but their dialogues are intriguing to me. Their reactions to every situation or to one another seem natural and utterly hilarious.
- The MUSIC is nice enough in my opinion.
I hope you guys will also have a good time with this anime like I did ^^

This anime is very special to me because it was recommended by my brother. Took me a few attempts to actually get into it though. I was discouraged a little at the beginning because of the tropes and tbh I did not like a lot of the characters after the first watch. However I decided to rewatch it (more because of the nostalgia than anything else) and began to appreciate the show more and more each time.
The myths surrounding geniuses and "hard work pays off" will always be fascinating to me. I'm so glad that the STORY explores this topic rather than just having some
...
innately talented characters on the show and be done with it.
What I LOVE:
- The OSTs! May be it's only because of the nostalgic feels they bring but I still listen to them till this day.
- Color palette of the whole show gives of soft, warm, cozy vibes. Kind of a dream-like state.
- The CHARACTERS have depth, enough for me to want to learn more about them.
- Good BALANCE between drama & comedy. I laughed a lot and cried a whole lot too especially towards the end but in my case it's more about the attachment I eventually developed with the characters than any super dramatic incidents.
What I DON'T LOVE:
- tropes tropes tropes. And like I said some characters can be a little annoying and over-the-top sometimes but overall they seem pretty real which makes me like them eventually.
If you're a fan of drama, comedy, slice of life type of shows, I think you'll like this anime.
