First off, Pon no Michi, or Way of Pon, is a show that a lot of people on the first watch would be confused for, but if you stick with it to the end, it's not bad. The show itself is ummmm, obvious about mahjong, but not really. While Mahjong is the main thing about this show, it's more of a refrence that appears one or twice within each episode.
The beginning is a little slow, with introductions for the main cast, but once Haneru (black red hair girl/ qq nino clone) joins in, the show becomes much more enjoyable and fast
...
pace, with a lot of fun parts here and there.
The refrences to Kaiji and One Piece was a nice nod, along with the Death Note style monolgues that happen within the last few episodes. However, the Mahjong Soul ad was kind of, yet not expected.
OP and ED is bop.
Overall, this show is a slice of life, so a laid back experience is expected, but there are some hints of emotion that definitely made the show a better watch than expected. Don't let my score fool you from not watching it, and don't let people say the show's horrible because it doesn't teach you how to play Mahjong.
It's better known as a Slice a Life with Mahjong on the side, not the otherway around.
SLICE OF LIFE WATCHERS REJOICE!

"Tis Time for Torture, Princess" is one of the most fun shows we have this season of Winter 2024.
First off, I will have to share one 50/50 thought: the comedy is subjective as always. If you enjoy the over the top commentary and dramatic animation to describe what the princess is saying (simmilar to Bocchi The Rock), then this will be right up your ally. Otherwise, you might find the humor cringe.
The show has amazing animation, and just like Bocchi The Rock, followed the original source (the manga) but made it even better and took it to a whole
...
another level. The simple plot is what makes it easy to follow along, with a tag line to let you know shit's about to go down. The characters are lovable, from the Princess, to Tortura, and even the Demon King, with their own personal charms that are just enjoyable to watch. AND WE CAN'T FORGET ABOUT THE MUSIC! THAT OPENING AND ENDING IS A BOP! (subjective of course) This show is one of those things you're not suppose to take seriously, and that's got to be due to its fluffy, wholesome fun. It also parodies horrible takes people argue about commonly. (like what part of ramen do you eat first (in the show) and what part of the chicken is more taster: wing, drum or thigh, cereal and milk (in the manga))
Anyway, this show gets my recomendation for a fun, wholesome show to watch and deserves more praises than downplay. (freakin tryhard otakus)
(if you're actually judging the show because it's not serious enough, you need to go outside, touch grass, and make some friends, i'm kidding)
EDIT: JUST FINISHED IT, MY OPINION AND REVIEWS STILL STANDS! THIS SHOWS ROCKS!!!

Loved this show and even bought the manga. Now look, this show is definitely not for everyone, I can understand this.
Cons:The censorship sucks in a show that is suppose to be rated R+, and the scenes that show skin are even that bad, the "sexual" scenes are clothed, and just a little foreplay. Yes, the humor is pretty dry and they skip around from the manga and (personal opinion) if they had follow the order and made it 10 episodes instead of 12, the consistency would be better.
Pros: Opening is a banger, and the animation is pretty decent. The character interactions
...
are more generic, but have a cute factor to it. The cat makes this better than it is, and at times the action gets more intense than expected. The balance of yuri, ecchi, plot, and humor is something I don't find much in anime nowadays, which this show does not too bad.
MAIN POINT: Overall, Read the manga if you really want to enjoy this and support the author's work (who made To-Love Ru) or go watch one or two episodes and see if it's your cup of tea. You want something to watch when you're bored, it got my stamp of approval.
