Both shows are about cute young girls who start from the bottom of the idol world and try to climb their way up. There are some similar archetypes such as the main characters have never practiced before but have some talent at being idols, and both shows have an elegant and mysterious popular idol that the newcomers are aiming to reach.

GA: Geijutsuka Art Design Class

Hidamari and GA are both about a group of girls attending art classes at their high school. Hidamari focuses a little less on the art asepct, but the shows are still quite similar. GA is kind of like the middle ground between Sketchbook and Hidamari, so if you liked those, you'll probably like GA.

GA has more comedy than Sketchbook, but they both are still very similar. Both shows are about a fairly normal girl surrounded by odd people in her art class. GA is kind of like the middle ground between Sketchbook and Hidamari, so if you liked those, you'll probably like GA.

Both are extremely pretentious as far as the story goes, but somehow their animation and music forces you to sit through it. So maybe if you actually liked one of these, you'll also enjoy the other, considering I feel they have almost the exact same failures!

Toaru Majutsu no Index

To Aru is basically SnS with magic instead of swords or the other powers and a bit more comedy. Animation is quite similar, due to the fact both anime are by JC Staff. Not that it matters, but the openings are also by the same person. Overall, To Aru simply gave off a similar vibe to SnS.

Shigofumi

Both series contain "mini plots" about only certain characters for each episode (occasionally in Shigofumi, 2 episodes) but have a character that knows about them (Tsugumi and Nojima) and play a continued role in the story. Jigoku Shoujo is more about the actual killing of people, whereas Shigofumi is about delivering the final words of the departed. However, they both feel quite similar despite the differences.

Innocent Venus

Hmm.... where can I start with this one? Maybe the fact that when I saw a magazine ad for Innocent Venus, Sana reminded me of Eureka. So I went to look up the series, and found out they have the same voice actress! Now besides that, I'd say the design of Sana is somewhat similar to Anemone as far as physical appearance, and Jo is almost an exact copy of Dominique's appearance! Both shows are about a girl that everyone's trying to use for her powers, mechas, and changing/saving the world. Oh yeah, and don't forget the rebel group of pirates. I guess you could say Shiba is similar to Holland, and Hee Jin to Talho, at least as far as personality and position in the show. Anyways, I basically see Innocent Venus as Eureka Seven's sibling who has fewer episodes and isn't as complex and love-y.

Sola
|
Air is so similar to sola it's not funny. I can even compare them and say this character has the same personality as that character between the shows. Both are also about the sky in some way. In sola it's about being able to stand under the sky, and in Air it's about being in the sky. Both shows are very similar, and I highly recommend if you've seen Air you should see sola and if you've seen sola you should see Air.
