Where do I begin with? I was doing a search on pinterest for some traditional media pictures and some fanart of chinese illustrations and some pictures with long haired guys that looked like anime images would pop up again and again. So I finally decided to do a reverse image search. And I can't believe what a gold mine I stumbled across!!
This anime... first and foremost there are breathtaking landscapes in almost every frame of each single episode. I kept on imagining how ancient China must look like before its modernization but I feel that most part of China (probably the central parts) might
...
still be as breathtaking to look at as they have been depicted in the anime. The backgrounds in this anime are simply heavenly!!!
The story... It has a solid base- an action, adventure, fantasy story, very good pacing and very good narration. For me, watching this story was like imagining the lives of ancient people of China even though there are lots of fantasy elements. But the way the towns, or transportation, the temples and school ground has been shown, there's something really captivating about it. A jolly troublemaker protagonist, the hardships he goes through and how in all this he's unconsciously drawn towards someone again and again. It's just a treat to watch. The story of Wei Wuxian's past has been animated in these 15 episodes. In this how, he's sent to study the cultivation arts, what tasks are given to these young students where they can use these arts to slay the dark forces is shown.
The animation and sound... It's really lucid. CGI used in this anime doesn't disturb the scenes. The background music throughout and opening and ending songs are beautiful and have traditional Chinese musical instruments in it of course. Very harmonious. The voice actors have done a very good job. Since this is the first time I've heard dialogue in Chinese, I can't really say much, but I liked hearing how each person spoke. Their way of saying sentences reminded me a lot of how Korean is spoken.
Characters... The most important in the anime after the story and the best part all male characters are long haired handsome boys and men!! <3 <3. The two main characters, Wei WuXian and Lan Wangji have been fleshed out very well. They both are really adorable but I must say I like Lan Wangji a tad bit more than Wei Wuxian. Simply because he's such a tsundere character who deeply cares for Wei Wuxian. If you read the novel you'll probably fall deeper in love with this character. Since this anime is going to have another season, maybe we'll see more character development for other characters as well.
All in all, I can;t get this series or the two main characters of this series out of my head. And am impatiently waiting for S2 (schedule in July 2019). Please do see these 15 eye candy episodes and also read the manhua and novels.

Giving this show straight 10s in all aspects. In all honesty, stories based on historical facts need to be made in this manner. And I strongly wish more of such stories are produced in the future too.
Story: This show is based on the life of Oda Nobunaga and you all can guess from the title. The first thing that caught my attention when I started watching this show was how much close to historical facts this show was. Though the story starts with a guy accidentally time traveling to the Sengoku (Warring States) period, everything from that point on is purely about happening in the past
...
and not some wired mix of modern times with that era and such. The story telling is very focused, showing Saburo's growth into the legend that is Nobunaga in Japanese history. All war tactics are very interestingly showcased.
Art: I'm not sure why the animators decided for a CGI animation for this show. The movements of the characters feels a bit weird but please don't give up just because of this. The story will catch your attention despite the sub-par animation. Background art is minimal but blends in well with the atmosphere of the story. The way most characters are drawn in the original manga resembles painting of the olden times and adds positively to the impact of the story telling.
Sound: Have you heard the OST of this show yet? No? Then go listen to it now!! It is EPIC!!! When I was finally able to listen to the main theme background music "Nobunaga Concerto -how-" after desperately searching for the OST for a long time, tears just started falling. Each background theme is brilliantly made and fits the atmosphere perfectly. It's a amazing blend of some traditional Japanese instruments with violins and piano. All voice actors have done an awesome job of bringing each and every character, main or supporting, to life.
Character: All characters are historical figures, so all already have a huge presence in each episode. But what is the highlight in their character building is their interactions with each other. This might seem obvious, but since this show is based on history, one has to be very careful when writing the dialogues, as one has to be creative in how each one would have been conversing with the other in those times, given their personalities and positions. There aren't any dialogues which stab you right in the heart (like they might do when watching Fate series) , but their actions do.------> spoilers ------- I was especially moved to see the scene were Nobunaga (Saburo) bids farewell to his educator Hirate Masahide or when Nobunaga tries to reach Saito Dousan to fight alongside him but is unable to. <------------
Enjoyment and Overall: Overall, a brilliant show which deserves a season 2 10000%. The story of this show might be too romanticized/ idealized as generally also happened with most stories based on historical facts but still it is well worth watching and re watching many many times. The story in the anime is incomplete and hence the concerto of the two protagonists isn't fully realized. But fortunately this story also got a drama adaptation in which the story is completely shown and with again very nice character development. So I;d recommend this anime as well as that drama for a good dose of history.

Ah. What can I say? You see that high rating right? This show very much is of that high quality. And all those soft romantic moments <3 Japan you have to make more of such sweet anime for older audience!! Be it any genre, the romance between the characters has to been this soft and sweet and expressive as between Yuri and Victor rather that the always awkward patterns shown still in most anime:3
And now a word of caution- there are BL elements all over the place. So people who don't like that stuff might not be enjoy it 100%. Also, I personally though
...
that people who are 16+ might probably enjoy this show more. But still you just have to watch the skating sequences!
Story [10/10]: Solid story build up. And really one season is not enough to show a sports story. Very well choreographed skating sequences. Just watch them. You'll enjoy them.
Art and Animation [10/10]: My god, Victor has such a seductive, slim and a very well toned body!! I also liked the drawings in the opening song of the show. If you are a girl, you'll have a feast for your eyes watching Victor ;) Very nicely drawn and a nice flow of animation there. All characters and scenery are also well drawn and distinctive. All skating sequences have an excellent flow making it easy to see the choreography for the most part. Probably it was because I kept reading the subtitles too during these sequences, that's why I might have missed some things. And I must must mention all the sweet moments like Victor and Yuri hugging each other just before Yuri's performance or their tiny gestures here and there that were so so cute and full of love. Love watching such animation sequences and I really wish Japanese animators will do more of such in future shows as well.
Sound [8/10]: Opening and ending theme songs are very catchy. Yuri on Ice song of Yuri's free skate program is THE BEST!!! They could have done original instrumental songs for the other characters' skate programs too. I didn't enjoy the other songs as much so a slightly lower score for sound. Voice actors as always have done a fantabulous job and a thousand salutes to all for putting life and uniqueness into each and every character. Get the same feeling while hearing any anime show actually. These voice actors- just how can they sound so so accurate each and every time!!?
Character [10/10]: The most important part of making Yuri on Ice such a superb show. Each character has a unique personality. Yuri, Victor and Yuri Plisetsky's interactions with each other are really the backbone of this show. Victor has a very pleasant personality, Yuri is that typical awkward guy character who surprisingly does some bold things sometimes. Yuri Plisetsky is a typical arrogant teenager also having some soft spots beneath that attitude. Other than that I liked Mickey and Sala's character development too, though there's wasn't a very long appearance. The 3 skating otaku kids of Yuri's friend are quite funny. I'm glad that even though there are so many BL undertones in this show, the animators didn't go too much over board showing them. Else it would have spoiled the mood set in each episode by all the skating sequences.
Enjoyment [10/10]: I enjoyed this show to the max. Excellent skating sequences in each episode, very nice character development. And very very sweets moments in between. Highly highly recommended to watch!! :)

Before going into the review, just a message- this series is for age 16+ audience primarily as has been rated by NETCOMICS. I'd personally give this a rating of mature due to some contents shown repeatedly in the story. Reviewing this based on the 7 volumes I've read till now. Could contain a few spoilers**
Story [9/10]: I loved the concept! This story is a chronicle of a being who has lived for hundreds of years and how his presence is intertwined with the world of this story. A depiction of what happens when humans get too many things in their hands and how that brings
...
about changes in their world is what all these vols. show. The story starts with a fantasy world. But slowly over these 7 vols. the location of where this story is set are revealed- very effectively too. The mystery of how this world is surviving is well maintained.
Art [6/10]: Art is good. But I have a few complaints- why does the girl need to be in the skimpiest possible clothes when all other girls and women of that world have long full dresses? Why do the eyebrows of all the characters have to be so crooked? Pretty unrealistically drawn. Why do every characters lips have to be so exaggerated? Other than that characters are well drawn. So are the backgrounds for the most part. The backgrounds do manage to create a proper image of the world in the story before your eyes. All the male characters are shown to have well toned bodies. The women have also be generally well drawn.
Character [7/10]: I found the female protagonist extremely annoying in the first couple of volumes till her back story was revealed. In that she really was such a good character by nature. For most part she keeps tormenting the male protagonist terribly. I felt bad about this- but the fact that one feels bad means the author has succeeded in creating the character personalities. This author does have a pattern in her manhwa though, where the guy protagonist is always tormented by the girl protagonist- to give the story an overall angsty shade. The other guy protagonist in this story is also well crafted. My only complaint here again is how forceful each male character becomes suddenly towards the female character. Also the start of the physical relationship between the main protagonists is really uncomfortable. I wonder if the relationship development between the protagonists could be shown in any other way. Maybe this was shown to spice things up a bit, but it feels annoying sometimes.
Enjoyment and Overall [8/10]: I found all the volumes enjoyable, especially the back stories of all the protagonists. Action scenes are well projected throughout all panels and messages are very clear from their depiction. Would definitely recommend these books to anyone who enjoys action, adventure, post-apocalyptic stories.

A very well made special 9/10 overall.
As it is, the end of Kuroshitsuji made be cry even though the ending is completely filler even now. Ciel's circumstances and his interactions, especially around the end of the series, with Abberline and Sebastian were such a mass of contradiction! I felt the same sort of contradiction from the dialogues between Ciel and Sebastian in this special.
Sebastian came out fantastically as a demon who toys with Ciel's thoughts. He says things which would be considered good advice and yet he'll also force Ciel to accept the point of no return that he has already crossed. And
...
a truly clever idea for using Hamlet for the play to portray these contradictions. The cheering from the children in the crowd during the play simply added to the highly emotional atmosphere. That made me cry the most probably since I had just completed watching the series and Ciel's end.
All in all, a totally recommended special to watch. This show itself forces you to think of the concept of good and evil especially because of the way the demons and angels act in it. This special adds a nice support for highlighting those concepts.

I'm being a bit more critical in rating this manga series. It's a really great manga though. So its definitely recommended for anyone who has seen the anime and who want to see a closure to the story.
Story [10/10]: The base of the story was wonderful and perfect to weave a long story including people associated with the zodiac. The main concept that keeps the story rolling is the fact that each person, who is possessed by an animal spirit associated with the chinese zodiac, suffers from emotional hardships because either their own parents won't accept them or society wouldn't. The one causing them to
...
suffer even more is their head of the house who is constantly mentally pressuring them to obey whatever he tells. And the one who comes to ease their pain is Tohru Honda. Interactions of each zodiac member with Tohru and a change in their attitude and stance against their own curse and the head of the house is what makes up the full 23 vols of this series. The story is heavily based on human emotions - mostly negative on the part of the zodiac members and a mixture of both positive and negative on Tohru's part. I also should add that the manga is not all comic, as the anime was for most of the part, as the series progresses. From the point in the manga equivalent to where the anime finished, you'll get to read a lot of negative thoughts and emotions. Sometimes while reading the manga, it really made me wonder- is this the manga of the same story as the anime? Overall though the story gets quiet dark , there are also lots of good comic situations- most really well executed in the anime. Since the series has a lot of volumes, the story isn't rushed. We get to read about the family background of most of the zodiac members is quiet a bit of detail. Each character's story makes a definite impact on the reader. Their gradual acceptance of the situation they are in and attempts to break free of all that emotional trauma of years is smoothly conveyed.
Art [8/10]: The art throughout the 23 vols is not having the same style. If you open the first vol and the last vol. and look for any character, you'll see the huge difference. I somewhat felt let down by that. But never mind since its the story that matters the most. other that the obviously changed style of drawing characters, the art is clean. Backgrounds are well drawn. Body proportions are also reasonably well drawn. Panels are not cluttered.
Character [8/10]: Another strong point of the manga. All characters have distinct personalities which you won;t be able to forget. All the characters have quiet a bit of dark streaks to their personality mostly because of their surroundings and the hardships they have had to face all the more fuelled by their twisted head of the family. The head of the family is abusive. This is one thing I didn't enjoy personally. But its also what drives the other characters to behave the way they do. The other thing that I didn't personally like was the way Haru and Rin's relationship has been portrayed- a little bit too involved for their age. Similarly, Akito's relationship with his own relatives also seemed a bit uncomfortable for me. I'm only explicitly mentioning this since this manga has been rated Teen (13+) by Tokyopop, so I wasn't expecting mature natured interactions between the characters. Apart from that, none of the characters are annoying and their gradual change of perspective of things believable.
Enjoyment and Overall [8/10]: Its easy to go berserk when you've been put in unpleasant surroundings or situations repeatedly. But to not break down in those situations and still enjoy today and look forward to tomorrow is what the protagonist of this series tries to convey. I think people today need such motivation more than ever. Overall, it was a fun long read. The plot was attention grabbing and the storytelling smooth. Recommended!

Giving this series a 10/10 for everything- story, art, character, enjoyment.
Its a story full of angst, forbidden relationships and unrequited love. Each character is doomed to suffer emotionally for life. And the protagonist Cesare has the worst share of them all.
Story: The story is well woven with historical facts (can't say how much percentage though) + heavy dose of supernatural elements to it, similar to how the Hakuouki anime series has been made. It gave me a vague idea of what kind of struggles must have taken place between France and Italy which was really interesting to read, since I haven't really read much about
...
their history. And Hetalia series has ruined me XD. Alexander VI's ascension to the seat of the pope, the internal struggle and grudges between the cardinals, scheming and manipulation by Cesare for avoiding French to capture Naples and finally pull the strings to unite Italy under the jurisdiction of the pope- all are very well written. The only thing I felt was a rushed ending. After vol 10, I was expecting that I'd get to read more of Cesare's prowess on the battlefield. But sadly that doesn't happen.
Art: The art is simply gorgeous!!! Cesare and Chiaro are so so so handsome!! Expressions of all characters are very well drawn to convey their intentions. The buildings of the era have been drawn superbly with fine details in most pictures. Battle scenes have been aptly drawn.
Characters: The strongest point of the series. Most characters have a distinct and a very strong personality. It was sort of horrifying most of the times to read how much twisted, selfish and greedy each person in the story is, and the things they do to get what they want. But then again, since the goals have been reached via impure intentions and methods none of them get to enjoy their victories. I especially felt bad reading how the women in the story have been used as mere tools for political reasons. Cesare has an angelic face but is the darkest of all of the characters. The cursed circumstances under which he is brought into the world render him doomed to be hated by his family. He is trapped in a complex forbidden emotional situation involving his own sister and later his best friend. The one person's heart he seeks doesn't reciprocate to his feelings. Lucrezia is manipulated to be married for political reasons. She has feelings for her brother which she tries to conceal. But probably never succeeds completely. Her affair with Chiaro finally makes her happy again but the happiness doesn't last long. Cesare's father has done all he can to gain power. But when he finally ascends to the seat of the Pope, he is forced to be a mere puppet of Cesare. Similar misfortune has be portrayed for all other characters in the story. And its mostly the unsatisfied emotions of all the characters that drives the story towards its tragic finale.
Enjoyment and Overall: The story is very tragic and dark. Heavily political, the story is well paced except for the abrupt ending. The character development is very well done. If you like reading tragedies, then this story is a must read.

Its a 10/10 for this series from me.
Its one of the most wonderful series that I got to read. Yes its long but it doesn't matter really. Once you get hooked on reading you'll always be asking for more. And the best part of this series- the humour in the series doesn't rely on anything vulgar. Its purely from the characters and their interactions and reactions. From random internet surfing on the best shoujo anime I had come across this title many times, but was reluctant to pick it up due to the "Host Club" in the title. But I am so glad that I
...
finally gave it a try. It is now one of the top anime in my must have anime collection. Since the anime is so hilarious I wanted to give this manga a try as well. And once I picked up I just couldn't put the book down.
Story [10/10]: The theme of a host club in a high school seems like a dangerous concept. But the Mangaka has handled the subject extremely cleverly to not let it lean towards becoming something vulgar. The story is also not at all shallow though its a comedy genre. In the first 7-8 volumes you read of the host club's daily activities and the heavy interaction between the club members and their "customers" and friends which are just too hilarious. In these you are also introduced to the family backgrounds of each club member slowly. In the later volumes you start seeing the change in the relationship between Haruhi and the other club members. Again this relationship transition is slow and smooth. Nothing in the story feels forced. All the situations shown seem inevitable. While keeping up the goofy atmosphere for most part the entire story gives you some very nice food for thoughts on friendship and family.
Art [10/10]: While the art of this series might not compare to say Arina Tanemura's art or CLAMP's art (well I consider their art that way) where the characters are just gorgeous looking, still all characters in this series are perfectly lovable. The reactions of all the characters and the sound effects in the manga add to the humour nicely. The Ouran High School being a school of the elite is richly drawn in most of the scenes. Even the outdoor locations seemed to have been researched thoroughly before drawing. You can come to know of how most locations or sceneries were drawn from the side panels where the mangaka gives all the details.
Character [10/10]: The strongest point of this series naturally. Each character is whimsical but still extremely likeable. You have the trouble makers twins, the airhead Tamaki, the quiet but still very much attached to his friends Mori, the childish Hunny, the extremely calculative Kyoya and the apathetic Haruhi. Their personalities are so strongly developed in the series that the humour from their interactions comes naturally since people having such personalities are bound not to be together. But the fact that they all are causes all the goofball situations and jokes.
Enjoyment and Overall [10/10]: I enjoyed reading every single volume of the manga thoroughly. Loved the story and loved the characters. Loved all the scenarios depicted in the story and especially the brilliantly they all were executed by the Mangaka. I even enjoyed reading the side panels and extra pages by the mangaka giving all the small details that went into the making of this series in general. Overall a hilarious show packed in 18 vols. Totally recommended and a must have manga for your collection.

Combining my views on both seasons-
A straight 10 for everything in this show.
Story: The topic is difficult. Karuta is not a sport that any of the people outside Japan can relate to. And I don't think even in Japan this sport would be too famous. But this game has an extremely interesting concept of combining the Japanese poems with cards. For any sports anime the matches of that sport need to crafted extremely well for the show to get noticed and appreciated. This show does exactly that. The pacing of the scenes aptly builds up the atmosphere of an exciting match.
Art and Animation: Well
...
drawn characters and backgrounds. And fantastically animated matches. A card game like Karuta which involves fast moves on taking the cards which have poems written on them can be quiet a difficult challenge. If the animators would have tried to bring in too many slow motion scenes in trying to explain the moves, the matches would have looked dull. Also if only fast moves from the players were shown to showcase their skill in taking the cards, then it would have been too difficult to understand the sport at all. This is where narration by the characters from time to time on the moves helps understand their opponents moves. The animation has a very good balance of the fast+slow motion scenes to make the match look convincing and very exciting.
Sound: Do I need to even say anything about this department? I have always experienced that Japanese voice actors express their characters emotions extremely well. The most important characters to voice in this show- the readers of the Karuta matches- they need to have the perfect pitching and tone for the Karuta players to recognize the letters being spoken clearly to take the cards as fast as they can. All voice actors do a brilliant job in voicing the readers. I loved that part in the show where 3 certified reader examiners are examining a reader during a match and under pressure he loses his rhythm. Actually till that point I didn't realize how important consistency in reading would be required for the players in general to focus.
I'll admit here, Miyano Mamoru's voice always catches my attention immediately. He has done a brilliant job once again in voicing Taichi who is perhaps the most complicated character to voice in this show after the readers, since there needs to be the perfect pitching and tone for expressing his emotions throughout the show.
And yes the background music for this show is just awesome. hats off to Yamashita Kousuke-sensei for a wonderful treat for the ears. Plus the OPs and EDs for both seasons are beautiful ! I personally loved the Akane Sora ED
Character: I loved all the character personalities. Chihaya the airhead, Kana-chan the literature freak- I loved hearing to her explanations of the poems! You really do start to like the poems in the show once their meaning is explained so beautifully. maybe some of you can even make out while they are being read if you pay close attention. Komanu-kun's meticulous data collection and analysis of his opponents is another interesting way to build up strategies within Team Mizusawa to beat their opponents. And Taichi- I always felt his memorization skills are out of this world. To be able to keep track of all the poems that have already been read out during the match and then build a strategy for taking the cards was just awesome. I also loved his indirect way of expressing his feeling towards Chihaya. I really really hope his feelings are reciprocated by her someday >.< Arata is also a sweet person with godly skills. His cross countering wne taking cards against the match with Nishida and Queen was excellent !! All the opponents in the show also have unique skills which have been nicely showcased in the show.
Enjoyment and Overall: Though it was difficult at the beginning I loved watching this show for its excellent direction, pacing, animation, sound, some very meaningful dialogues, poems, the characters, the exciting matches and the relationships especially between Team Mizusawa's players. Each player supports their team members wholeheartedly. their were 3 occasions where I was crying like an idiot- When Chihaya suddenly cried after the Concert band gave their best wishes to the Karuta Club via their performance (in ep 07 of s2) before the nationals started 2) when Mizusawa won the Tournament as a team (ep 19 in s2) 3) when Taichi made to Class A (ep 23 in s2). All three scenes showcasing the emotions powerfully and very subtly !!
Overall I had a wonderful time watching this show. And am praying hard that the story will get a closure with a season 3. A must watch !!

WOW so many reviews giving this show such a negative publicity !! Well the show is not at all poor in any sense.
Writing this review after watching 7 eps. and I have to say, I totally look forward to this show every week. In fact its hard to wait for a week actually to see what's gonna happen next.
Story [10/10]: I loved the concept of the show- A girl, who, every time she experiences some kind of shock wakes up, finds her surroundings changed. How she and the people around her respond to it is the essence of the story till now. I loved the
...
direction of this show. The scenes change at a very good pace which keeps the mystery alive in each episode. And especially the last scene cut at the end of Ep. 7. It was so subtle!
Art and Animation [10/10]: Full marks here as well :) The characters are all gorgeous and the backgrounds are well suited to all the scenes. Animation is top notch for me as well.
Sound [8/10]: The OP and ED are both very groovy. The background music isn't too much noticeable.
Character [8/10]: I loved the way the girls character was handled. Her responses to all the things she experiences was very well crafted. As for the guys they are not bad. All are suspicious looking at the beginning but you get a flavor of their personalities with each episode. When the protagonist is in a particular world with one guy, the others dont even appear anywhere. This can be both a positive or a negative point - The former -> since it helps in highlighting the incidents of a particular world where one of them is the girl's partner. The latter -> Since the creators of the show could have added many situation in which such interactions of the girl would be complicated by including the other characters influence to the flow of events. But again I am satisfied fully with watching what I am shown :)
Enjoyment and Overall [9/10]: I am enjoying every bit of this show. Its got all the right amount of mystery to it And the pace of the show is good as well. So completely recommended to watch *thumbs up*
