Darkness, gore and absolute dispair. If you like that kind of style, check em out both. Both mediocre though, they're worth watching for the insane carelessness and hate of most characters in both series. Plus Gantz has titties.

Guy moves into a town which holds a mystery that unravels troughout the show. Higurashi has some lighter slice of life episodes, but that's cool because it's pretty long including -kai. Highly reccomend both

The top of the mafia theme, with very skilled fighters and gunfight action.

If you liked Elfen Lied add

...then you might like Higurashi no Naku Koro ni add

cuteness VS killing. both very good but i recommend higurashi.

If you liked Hunter x Hunter add

...then you might like Death Note add

They're both mindblowing good. They have some similarities in psychological thinking and plottwists. They have similar characters who are extremely smart or skilled at stuff. I highly recommend both of them. They both have (almost) no boring ep whatsoever.
