I'm going to start this review by saying that I will NOT being comparing this to Jun Maeda's previous works. This anime has been under a lot of fire for not holding up to the standard people set from his previous works, but I believe using bias from an artists previous works is not how you rate an anime.

Overall, this anime is NOT as bad as a lot of people make it out to be. In fact, the first few episodes are superb. The story does fall off a bit in the latter half of the series, but once again, it's not as bad as ... people make it out to be. Comparing this anime to the average anime, it is definitely above average. I also give it some bonus points in for pulling it off during these current world events.

In my opinion, the strongest part of this anime is that it allows the viewer to experience feeling of emotion. Even during the parts of it in which a lot of viewers disliked, I felt feeling of anxiety and such.

I think that this anime is best to watch without any previous biases of Jun Maeda's works. As I said at the beginning of this review, I don't wish to compare this to his other works, so I will keep this part brief. This series does indeed feel like a standard Jun Maeda work in how the series flows and such. It can be frustrating as in that sense, it lacks some originality. However, I feel like a new viewer who hasn't experienced his works may be able to enjoy this anime more than someone who has. (I know I said I was going to keep it brief, but this part ended up being the longest part of the review, LOL)

Overall, I round this anime up to an 8. For me, it's a middle-high 7. However this is not a bad score. In my book, it is an above average anime. I would definitely recommend giving it a watch, as it's one of the better anime that came out in 2020.

Now, I'm not going to say this was a masterpiece, but after watching 11 episodes (soon to be 12 later today when it comes out on CRoll) I can tell you that this anime was a fun ride. When it first came out, I was hesitant because I wasn't sure how well they would adapt the novel. It really does a good job at squeezing out the more entertaining parts from the 3 novels it has covered into a 12 episode series. Personally, I believe that it is one of the best new anime this season. I would suggest it, but I have to warn ... you, the first episode really made me and quite a few other fans nervous, as a couple scenes really didn't make the anime look promising. I would say after the first episode, it has a been a very smooth ride.
