I am genuinely curious as to what happened here. I assume there was a drastic budget cut, or maybe Studio Deen with bankrupt? Are they saving their pennies for another production? Regardless, it's just shameful what has become of Nanatsu no Taizai. The quality took a giant crap, and it's truly painful to watch. The story is fine, but the animation is just.. Suzuki Nakaba, what have they done? Did you sleep with someone's wife to earn this retribution?

I mean, I'm not telling you not to watch it. You've come this far, you might as well, but gird your loins because it's bad.

This is an anime to watch when you aren't really sure what to do with yourself. You have time to waste, and nothing better to waste it on. Although Index is in the title, she barely has anything to do with the story, this continues throughout the series. I am not sure what the point of having her is at all. Touma is the whitest knight in all the land, and it gets old. It has gotten so old as to be eye-rollingly expected now that I have moved onto the third series. Why am I watching this if I hate it so much? I ... don't hate it, I just don't really like it a lot. There is very little about it that is able to hold my attention, which means it is great to put on as background noise or when I am painting my nails. As the series progresses, it becomes almost entirely fan service and the plot is more and more jumpy and confusing. It is almost impossible to become immersed in the story. The art is decent. The sound is fine, nothing amazing. My husband has gotten tired of hearing the noise it makes when Touma uses imagine breaker, "they must have gotten a good deal on that sample". On the note of the famous right hand, it is nonsensical. If his right hand can negate his luck simply by virtue of being attached to him... you know what else is attached to his right hand? The rest of his fucking body. He should be able to tap something with his toe and use imagine breaker. As I write this I am debating lowering my rating to 5.. and I am questioning why I have continued to watch this for as long as I have. Ah yes, because there is nothing else to watch right now, and I have watched enough that I am at that place where I feel like I might as well finish it. Foolish.

Premise is decent. It could have been good if they gave a shit about the story, or the pacing, or the animation, or anything. Vague spoilers ahead.

Look at another anime, now back at me. I'm fantasy. I'm action. My story is going slowly. Look down. Back up. I'm a witch. I'm a serious plot point. Where are you? Werewolves. Look at the sky, now back at me. I'm losing my virginity to a questionable fellow. I think I smell chicken. Do you smell chicken? You're in love. Where the hell did that come from? What's in your hand? A desperate need to free your homeland. ... What happened with that? Look up. Look back. You're on a boat. So much blood. You're in a bloody Juicy Fruit commercial.

I'm on a horse.

Edited to add wtf was with those swinging arm wolves in the last episode. I spent the first half of that episode frowning, and then left the sound playing but stopped watching half way through and just let it play out. How this was greenlit for 24 episodes is mind boggling. Anyone who finds this enjoyable, please enlighten me. I must be missing something. What a steaming pile.

One day I woke up and thought, you know what my life is missing? Weekly uncontrollable weeping.

The animation is beautiful. The story is fabulous. The character development for Violet is incredibly well done. Through the letters she writes, she grows, and so too does my pile of used kleenex. The ending was incredibly well done.

I had my doubts when I started this anime because I am usually drawn to very specific genres. Something about the name and the initial imaging drew me in. I don't regret it. Truly though it will wash you in an ocean of feels if you have any semblance ... of a heart, so be prepared.

I feel like if you subscribe to the 3 episodes and then bail mentality you will be losing out on this one. The story and relationships therein are built up gradually with each episode. There is mystery involved that I am only really starting to unravel now in the 18th episode. I find myself progressively more stoked when another episode is released. I'm quite interested to find out how this ends.

I see reference to the use of CG. I personally greatly dislike CG. What was used is subtle and scant.

The reviewer who stated something to the effect of this being like watching 2 shows in ... one was accurate in this description. There is the greater story that you progress through, and every few episodes seem to cover another story at the same time. I think this is helpful to keep you engaged as the main story is a bit slow going, but progressively more interesting in the later episodes as the relationships are more established and you are more invested in the characters.These sub-stories are also helpful to build character depth and give you insight into the greater story.

I've laughed, I've cried. There's suspense and intrigue. I recommend.
