RK and FoR are both written in the 90's and are both the same genre, so the storyline is similar. Both have a silly main character who's serious when he needs to be. Rurouni Kenshin is based on legend, and Flame of Recca has historical references involving the Hokage, so they both have sort of an old-style feel to them, even though Flame of Recca is set in modern times. Both main characters have the ability to make friends with their enemies, who help out unexpectedly. They are both longer than average series, and both include the slapstick and crude humour that is universally found entertaining. Oh, and both of the stories' main characters, Kenshin and Recca, have a scar on their left cheek. XD
