Typical yet refreshing! I was going to quit on shoujo animes after watching Sukitte Ii na yo but Monthly Girls Nozaki-kun stands out with its simplicity and comedy.
Sakura Chio falls in love with Nozaki and confesses her feelings with totally wrong choice of words (*I am your fan and I want to be close to you :P*). Nozaki, unbeknownst to Chio, is author of famous shoujo manga, thinks she really is a fan ends up handing her autograph and hiring her as assistant. Chio joins Nozaki to help with his manga and finds out every character in his story is inspired by their friends at
...
school. The story moves along as with Chio's efforts to convey her feelings to Nozaki and Nozaki continues to be clueless workaholic. Its almost unbelievable how he writes really romantic manga yet is totally dense about love in his real life.
The best part I liked about this anime that it doesn’t fall into same mold by introducing romantic rivals and unnecessary love triangles. There is very less or almost no crying and whining. Characters are simple yet have unique personality and series paces nicely with funny episodes.
Overall, it’s a recommended one time watch shoujo anime.

Slice of life and romantic animes can be tricky, sometimes you can relate to them and sometimes you cant. Your lie in April is a story of pianist and his journey of returning back to music. Even if you don’t have a lot of knowledge about piano or violin, you can still get through this one. You just need a strong heart that can survive some pain and withstand all the tears!
Arima Kousei, our protagonist, is very convincing artist in despair and "friend A" for the girl he loves.
Even though he is whining for the better part of series, his thoughts are beautifully written.
...
He has hopelessly romantic heart and his monologs are intense and sad, so much that I couldn't watch more that 2 or 3 episodes at a time.
"But of course I'd be suffering. I mean, I'm gonna sail in uncharted waters, right? Both, taking on a challenge and creating something. It is painful, but it's fulfilling." - Kousei
Little by little he finds his strength and learns to endure pain gracefully. After all, the series is about his self-discovery. Kaori, is crazy violinist who likes Kousei's best friend - Watari. She is driving force and inspiration for Kousei. He falls in love with her at first sight. It does makes you feel from time to time that she is trying too hard to be cool but those are all sincere efforts. Characters in this story have so much complicated personalities that I just cannot describe (personal favorite being Watari and Kaori ), that is what I liked about this anime.
But Your Lie in April gets repetitive and never stops leaving you with a sad feeling every episode. At a point I felt like they could have wrapped it up in 12 episodes. Don’t get me wrong there are some really beautiful moments that makes it all worth it (trust me, I rewatched those scenes multiple times! Truly beautiful ). And I think it is all thanks to amazing background score and breathtaking animation (*So colorfull !!!*)
Overall I will say, if you want to watch a hopelessly romantic story that really makes your heart hurt, This is the one!!

Terror in resonance keeps you captivated with its interesting characters but I found story-line rather predictable. Series is small and crisp with no filler episodes or unnecessary flashbacks. And even though there is a larger plot going on about serial-bomb blasting, there is also subtle development in each character of story. For example, Nine and Twelve (our two protagonists) have specific goals in their mind but as Lisa (lonely girl at school) enters their plan, they re-calibrate their priorities and end up developing attachment to her.
Other characters, Five (trained similarly as Nine and Twelve), Japanese Detectives (trying hard to solve bombing case) are equally engaging.
you

should go ahead and watch this one if : you are looking for quick mystery story entangled with politics, government secrets etc.
you should avoid this one if : you have penchant for flashy characters and love happy endings.

While searching for almost-rom-com stories I came across Akatsuki no Yona. It is really lovely series which takes place in old era where princess Yona is on a journey with her companions.
There is nothing really much to the actual story but characters are really diverse and lovable, even the negative once.
Princess Yona grows up being pampered by her father (who hated violence and use of weapons) and on her 16th birthday her cousin Su-won (whom she loves) murders her father. She escapes with help of her bodyguard and childhood friend Hak and embarks on journey to find four dragons (now in human
...
form).
All the characters are funny and overall mood of the anime is somewhat light. Hak is funniest (and sexiest) character of all, he loves Yona and protects her throughout journey but he is also considerate of her feelings for Su-won. Su-won, I think, is also one of the interesting characters. He murders emperor because he hates his -no wars- ideology. He wants to make is kingdom stronger and unite different tribes in his kingdom.
Aside from these two there are four dragons all of them have different personalities, powers and own stories but in the end they just team up with Yona to help her through her mission.
Background score is also impressive, I liked opening theme and 2nd ending theme. Animation is really nice. Thing I liked most is chemistry between Yona and Hak and I want to see how their relationship grows over the time of series. Waiting for season 2 !!
You should watch it if you like road trip, romantic stories
You should avoid it if you don’t like somewhat reverse harem plots

Gintama kind of grows on you once you watch initial 5-6 episodes. It's hilarious and has serious notes in it at the same time (and suddenly they will just poop all over serious parts so they are not so serious anymore ;D).
The series takes place is era where land of samurai is conquered by aliens and carrying swords around is banned. Our protagonist Gintoki Sakata is ex samurai who loves relaxed lifestyle. Despite of fighting fierce battle against alien invasion and being renowned as silver beast samurai, he is just not interested in fighting anymore. Now, he works as "Jack of all treads" with his
...
two companions Shinpachi Shimura (apprentice who wants to learn way of samurai from Gintoki) and Kagura (who is alien with superhuman strength).
There are also very interesting supporting characters such as Sinpachi's sister, ninja assassins of Onibawanshu and my personal favorites Police samurais of Shinsengumi.
There is not very noticeable background score as such in first seasons but Anime has great opening and closing OSTs.
Reasons you should watch: Abstract scenarios with all sorts of weird funny situations. Most of the episodes are not lumped into arcs so can start watching from any episode.
You should avoid this one if : you don’t like too much crazy and randomly branching plots. (But I will suggest to watch it )

Hatarubi no Mori e kind of left me with sad feeling. Maybe I am not mature enough to let go of people who are there in your life for years and believe that they will be happy wherever they are even though you can never seem them again EVER !!
I liked the characters in the movie, specially Hotaru who accepts reality that she can not touch Gin and yet wants to move to small village after graduation in order to be with him. I really thought at some point spirits of forest will figure out way to make him human again. But
...
I guess not all stories have happy endings. By the end of the movie I just could not stop crying, but you don't see Hotaru crying like baby, which I think again shows how rational this girl is.
I had to watch few episodes go Gintama to get over sad feeling :( Over all a good experience.
