Hey! So I wanted to give my perspective on this as someone who never watches Idol Anime.

I thought it was good, the music was fun to listen to and thought the characters were easy to root for. I got the sense that these guys were really close friends and had been through a lot together. Looking at how hard they worked as idols without a company was pretty endearing. I liked how they were so kind and courteous to the people who owned the venue and seemed to really respect the opinion of their fans.

Toward the end when they realize that not everyone can ... be happy was kind of sappy. I mean...idk, maybe it's just me. But all of that seemed obvious to me. But it got the group to join the production company so...whatever.

All in all a good special and I'll be checking out the other shows in the franchise.

This is mostly gonna be short because I watched this way back in the day when I had to watch anime on Youtube in 3 parts! Wow, that was so long ago.

Anyways, this review is mostly from memory (I might rewatch it) but I remember liking this anime. I thought it was fun. Yes, the plot is really...out there, like if you really think about it it doesn't make such sense. But 12 year old me thought it was fun.

The 'seme' and 'uke' dynamic is played pretty straight here and while I'm pretty...over that whole thing nowadays (I'm 23) at the time it was new ... and rather interesting.

Anyways, this anime is probably a 4 or 5 but I would have to re-watch it to be sure.

Now this is what I had wanted from the first movie.

Story get a 7 since I think it did good with the characters, continuing their bond and all of that. Gin is my favorite of the trio this time around. She's very cute for a sporty type of girl. There's not much else to really say about it. Cute girls begin cute.

The art gets up to a 8 for me, mostly for the fight scenes. I think the animators did really well with the fights and blending CG and 2D animation. I could hardly tell, and when I could it wasn't all that noticeable, I ... just have good eye for that kind of thing nowadays. I think it works really well.

The sounds is fine. Nothing made me cry really, but it's all good.

The characters are where this part does well with. Building the girl's friendships and what I do really like is the fact that the girls do act like little kids. It's not. Except for the fanservice. Yeah still bugs me.

I think this is a solid entry in the YuYuYu series and I'm excited for the final movie.

So I will say that my score of 6 is really because I didn't expect this to simply be the first part. I dunno, the ending really left me cold. I wanted more, but not because it was so good. This may have come from the fact that I knew a bit of the story already so had expectations that weren't met.

One thing that I really did like about this movie was the character development. Especially for Washio (Tougou). I still want to know where exactly her nationalism came from since she's just as nationalistic as she was in YuYuYu. Like...did she learn something that ... sparked it, or was it something that came from the family she lives with? It's odd since literally no one else seems to feel the same way she does.

Her relationship with Gin and Sonoko is great as well. I do like how she wasn't sure if she could trust those two, especially with the way they act. But through the course of the movie she see their strength and talent. It was a really nice touch and watching them blossom into real friends with them.

I'm not an animation expert but I think the animation here is really well done. Maybe even a little bit better than the animation in YuYuYu, at least in the transformation sequences. I do hate the fanservice on these 12 AND 11 YEAR OLD GIRLS!! It bothered me a lot, but they don't transform all that much really. I'm still salty about it though.

All in all very enjoyable and I'm glad I watched it.
