Little Busters, like its predecessors (Clannad, Kanon, Air), is a comedy-romance based in school life. The story revolves around a teenage boy (who is a somewhat chick-magnet) Riki Naoe who suffers from a sleep disorder, Nyarukolepsy. What generally happens throughout this series is solving problems for each female character (as seen in Clannad as well).
"A lot of people seem to blatantly hate it for the fact that it doesn't follow the original source material or won't even try watch it based on other people's hate towards it or because it's adapted by J.C. Staff and not traditionally KyoAni." - Veniamin
Indeed, I agree with Veniamin. Unlike
...
its predecessors (which were animated by KyotoAnimation), Little Busters were animated by J.C Staff. Personally, I don't see why people actually hate it because of that, J.C Staff has adapted a lot of the best anime out there, for example Kaichou wa Maid-sama!, Hidan no Aria, Shakugan no Shana, Toaru Kagaku no Railgun, and as well as Toradora. Its not really the studio that adapts the anime that matters, more like how the anime is produced as the result. J.C Staff has done a great job with the animation of Little Busters, producing work of high quality.
Not only did the anime excel in the animation, but the music too. The opening theme (composed by Jun Maeda, who also contributed in other anime which has the best songs, such as Angel Beats!), is reused in the anime as it was in the visual novel. The choreography in the opening theme demonstrates a breezy, happy atmosphere which carries the message of 'hope' and 'Keep looking forward!" in it. Also, the opening has some introductory features to the characters as each character turn around to 'greet' the audience with such pleasure. Other than that, the soundtracks used during the course which undertook during intense scenarios are what I call, 'top-notch'. It is because of heart-aching soundtracks like "Lamplight" and "Town of Incessant Rain" I am constantly depressed. Anyway, the soundtracks and the opening theme deserve a big score, achieving a 9/10 from me.
However, even when the animation and sound quality has given a lot of potential to the anime, it all came crashing down for the storyline (atleast in my opinion). The storyline wasn't as captivating as it should've been, as well as it's inconsistency in keeping me engaged. It was a bit too slow in terms of reaching the rising action and the climax, spending its sweet time on character introduction, BASEBALL and a wee bit of fanservice. That being said, the anime DOES know how to make an audience cry, after all it is a Key Visual Novel. Unfortuantely, storyline (structure) is a no-go for me.
Although, I'll admit that spending alot of time on character development was worth it. Each character was well introduced, and each had their own personality and history. Voice actors and actresses had contributed the most in this department, this can be seen with the level of 'kawaii-ness' with Noumi Kudryavka and Natsume Rin. And so, character development is basically the highlight of the anime, along with sound quality and animation.
Overall, this anime was definitely worth watching, it was enjoyable yet intense at the same time. I recommend this anime for people who love the school-romance genre, or people who just want to kill some time or even for lolicons. Another thing, I personally think that the anime isn't something people would want to 'anime-marathon' on.

If you're expecting a comedic and happy atmosphere from this anime, I'd say you've come to the wrong place my friend. The idea of Amnesia originated from a H-game, where you set flags on routes and achieve a certain ending. This anime is target at young female viewers so if you're a guy, you might have a hard time following. Amnesia is told in a first-person view which, in other words, you basically have no clue what is happening throughout the story until the very end. I enjoyed watching this anime not because I love the mystery genre, but because of it's originality/plot.
Firstly, lets talk about
...
the making of this anime. The reason why I started this anime was mainly for it's art. I was interested in how each individual character was drawn to be significant to the symbols of a card game such as hearts, diamonds, clover, etc. Other than the artwork, I was also impressed by the opening theme song of Amnesia, which I believe was sang by Yanagi Nagi. It helped prepared the right mood in the beginning of each episode mainly because its catchy, but thats my opinion after all.
Now that we're done with the artwork and sound production, lets move on to the creation of the characters. The main character of this story is the heroine, which was never given a name throughout the ENTIRE series. If I had to describe her character, it would be plain, weak, inferior, clueless, airhead, doesn't have much of a personality at all. But that's acceptable once you forget who you are. The fact that she's lucky to experience dating with four attractive dudes won't change. Throughout the story, the heroine is always clueless of her surroundings. The background given to the heroine was that she was childhood friends with two boys named Shin and Toma. As the story progresses, you'll notice quite a few changes with this heroine, well technically to be more specific, she's able to communicate more comfortably with her surroundings.
The very first arc of the anime begins with Shin. I'd say that Shin can be compared to an ice cream, because he gives out a cold impression and yet he's sweet and kind. He is mostly shown at the exposition of the story and seems to have a deep relationship with the heroine. Nearing the end of his arc, he becomes more forceful and impatient with the heroine. His symbol is the heart.
The second arc leads on to another male lead, Ikki. Ikki is more of the idealistic boyfriend and is perfect at everything, especially on the looks. The heroines first encounter with Ikki is when he helps her make some kinda ice cream thingy (iunno what its called). It is rumoured that every girl Ikki dates with always breaks up after 3-months because of the competition between fangirls. His symbol is the diamond. In my opinion, this was the most BORING part of the story, reason being it was dodgy and unreliable to the main concept of the story, as if it was there to take up three whole episodes for no reason.
After Ikki's arc is Kent's arc. Kent is definitely not the ideal boyfriend and shows no emotion/affection towards the heroine. Throughout the story, Kent becomes more 'open' to the heroine and is able to express his affection towards her. His symbol is the clover. I really liked this part of the story because I liked seeing the character development of Kent.
The next arc, which was my favourite, is Toma's arc. The reason why I loved this character is because he was the first yandere male lead I knew. The behaviour Toma takes whenever he's near to the heroine is quite over-protective. Throughout the story, Toma shows his affection towards heroine is by confining her in a cage to protect her from "antagonists". Nearing the end of the story, the heroine discovers her true feeling for Toma and eventually forgives his actions. This arc in particular was the start of the rising action of the story, holding up a tense feeling.
Lastly, the Ukyou arc, which is the climax of the story. Ukyou is first seen in the anime when he saves her from what could've been a car accident. What specifically interests me about Ukyou is that he has a split personality which is quite a mystery throughout the story. One that wants to kill the heroine, and one which wants to protect her at all costs. Ukyou seems to have some knowledge of why the heroine is passing through parallel worlds (spoiler). Ukyou is known to have interest in photography, but to be honest, I don't see what this has to do with the plot at all.
After watching this anime, I can tell that a lot of effort was put into making this anime. I was always looked forward to what would happen in the next episode. I really recommend trying out this anime because you don't know what you're missing out on!
