Elusive Samurai is a show where is exceptionally shrugged upon and under the damn rug. I barely see anyone talking about it. Easily top 5 of this season of anime (although not many good anime were here this season but I digress).
Wonderful animation, good characters, decent story, and humor that actually caught me off guard. The one thing that was apparent is it’s obvious the animation department is struggling a bit. Elusive Samurai is amazing and has multiple episodes where it rivals Studio Ghibli especially with it’s soft colored and painted art, but you can see when CGI is used, and I think some parts
...
of the anime didn’t cook enough. It isn’t much of an issue though since 80% of the anime is CHEFS KISS. But episode 4 and episode 12 were easily the worst in the animation department, almost fully utilizing still frames and janky CGI. But, I cannot talk ill of the rest.
The characters are good, but there are some that are just ‘there’ or ‘aight’ y’know, it’s a historical Shonen so expect some IRL names portrayed into characters like Dazai in BSD. Symbolisms in the anime were portrayed very well with what would be going on in 1333. The art is versatile too, a lot of sakuga, some stop motion, real life footage, cutout animation, and ofc the CGI. It’s like fucking Gumball.
Suwa is easily the best character~ (totally not biased because of Gojo VA)
They also have a lot of ugly ass characters as villains that gross me out. So thank you Elusive Samurai, I did not need to see protruding eyeballs and ears with teeth.
I wish some characters had development or some relevance, I do like some like Genba, Tokiyuki, and Suwa but everyone else is meh or aight. Hopefully we see more diverse personalities than one-note characters with 1 specific quirk, like Demon Slayer.
The story is well written. Very unique too and is sometimes even fourth wall breaking and can have a few jabs in the modern world as well, delivered by the future seeing Suwa. Times were tough in 1333, that’s for damn sure.

What happened to this series? Well I hardly know myself. Seven Deadly Sins: Prisoners of the Sky is one of the most disappointing anime movies I have ever watched. The excitement from the SDS series put my expectations higher than expected for this movie. I can see why the studio let them go after the movie flopped hard. Anyways, I will get on with the actual review.
Animation- The animation seems decent to me and only heightens when the ending battle begins with Meliodas and Bellion. Though, there were some parts of the animation that seemed not particularity on movie level. The movie seems to be
...
on par with the shows animation (season 1 and 2 that is), but isn't this supposed to be a movie? Movies are supposed to give the most amount of attention behind the scenes because if you are putting it in the big screen, we expect some quality especially the budget with the story and animation. The animation is a 7/10, like I said, it's like the earlier seasons of SDS, but I expected it to be more spectacular, more movie-like, for example, Demon Slayer: Mugen Train, Silent Voice, or Jujutsu Kaisen 0. I just expected it to be more fluid.
Story- Oh boy don't get me started. This isn't even a story, it's just filler. There is no context to the story that translates to the worldbuilding of the SDS series. Besides, even if it is filler and some anime movies are actually filler (MHA), it's some pretty dogshit filler compared to let's say MHA. MHA has 2 filler movies, but they at least try with their source material and translate well into the My Hero verse, but the SDS movie does not and let me explain. SDS Prisoners of the Sky is about Meliodas encountering a clone of him, but not just a clone, a clone that is the OPPOSITE of him as well as some of the cast and go on an adventure to help the sky people defeat demons. For an anime that has gained a good reputation (for awhile), this plot is pretty generic and stupid in my opinion, why add the opposite version of Meliodas? Oh I know why, so the big baddies can come, but if the series is all about fantasy, why would they need the opposites plot so the story can go forward? The big bads can come from a distant country or planet to gain something or anything. The anime is a FANTASY which means any mythical creature or being is already normal in the SDS universe, so why add the pussy version of Meliodas to come along? I don't know that opposites plot just seems to be out of nowhere and executed horribly. Not only that but the story is a slog to go through. The scenes are long and has a lot of exposition. The whole movie was just so BORING that I nearly fell asleep twice as fast as when I watched Fairytale and Pokemon Sun and Moon. The only good part was the ending where Meliodas has to fight the big bad Bellion and the goons when. The story overall is generic and a slog to go through.
Character- Now I know the main characters of the movie because I watched the anime and they seemed fine, I will go through a better explanation of their characters in the 1st season review of the show. Aside from the main cast, I HATE Solaad and Elliate, they entire review I called them opposites because that's all what they are, JUST OPPOSITES. They have no character traits that make them a little more relatable or at least better than "I am the opposite of you, therefore, I will act what opposites do" BITCH, THESE GUYS....ARE PUSSIES. They just get on my nerrrvvvesssss bro, they are too goody two shoes for anyone to enjoy. Their overwhelming innocence reminds me of SPONGEBOB, THEY JUST T- THEY JUST MAKE ME WANNA WANNA- REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE. ahem, sorry folks, that was very unprofessional of me, now lets move on to the villians. Ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Well, the lil goons in the movie are literally nothing like they just die, they just get their asses clapped by Meliodas faster than my grandmas whip. They do NO DAMAGE, now moving on to Bellion ... MAN HE BORING AS SHIT. The amount of times I have seen this type of villian is unmatched, Disney villains' are better than this shit. This smurf looking ass really is just a mustache twirling villain, literally is just doing shit for power like we haven't seen that for the billionth time. The characters introduced in the movie are garbage, case closed.
Voice acting, soundtrack, and more- As usual, the Japanese voice actors prove their talent even in a soulless disappointing franchise which is why they deserve the world, making these characters come to life. I have heard the dub sometimes when I am busy and it's mediocre at best, but not so atrocious except some characters, but its passable. The soundtrack is what hits no matter the season or movie, banger after banger from the man himself Hiroyuki Sawano, this man never misses and I respect him for putting in the work. As for other things, most of this review is just my personal opinion so if you like this movie, that's fine, I like to exaggerate my thoughts as well to make the reviews seem less boring as this is my first review. As for remaining thoughts, man this franchise really fell off and when it did is at exactly when this movie came out and ever since then it has been on a downward spiral, I haven't even finished season 3 and I don't plan to. In some universe out there, the franchise is perfect and got the reputation it deserved as well as a better studio. Anyways, I might write another review tomorrow idk, I'll think on it, but as for now, that is it, peace.

A Silent Voice is an emotional masterpiece that can get anyone teary eyed with important lessons. This anime is personally one of the most relatable anime I have seen and probably for others as well. Some just watch it for the hell of it and still enjoy it! Well then, on with the review.
Animation- The animation is spectacular and very colorful. I cannot help but get hungry when I watch anime cooking in detailed animation, HOW DARE THEY MAKE ME EAT A FOURTH MEAL. Honestly, I don't have much to say except I praise its animation for being the best out there, so many fluid
...
movements and expressions with aesthetically pleasing lighting. I cannot praise it enough, watch the movie for the animation alone, you won't regret it. It certainly gives me Your Name vibes, so if you like that movie, you might enjoy this one as well.
Story- The story is written well, with some flawed stuff here and there, but It's only a few. The positives is how wholesome they write the main 2 characters, Shoya and Shouko. The chemistry between them is unmatched, I fall in love with the interactions whenever they come up on screen, even though the beginning says otherwise heheh. The plot is simple to follow and the emotional connections with the characters makes me tear up every time, the heartbreaking love story, the mental health issues that go on in a high degree to this day, the importance of friendship and any relationship is all there! I won't spoil much because for those who haven't watched, I want you to be prepared. It also captures real life issues such as bullying, mental health, and accepting yourself and not be damaged by the people around you, it's just so relatable to many. Now lets go to the negatives, in the beginning we are introduced to the side characters, but they are kids up until the time skip, but really what is the problem is.....the side characters ARE ANNOYING! Some of them are written so hateful that the whole vibe just disappears whenever they are on screen, I'll discuss it more in the next part, but otherwise, the story is easy to follow and may be tear jerking relatable to some as well.
Characters- Some characters are the most annoying ones I have ever seen on screen, I AM POINTING AT YOU MIKI AND NAOKA! They have to be one of the most insufferable characters in anime I have ever seen! I know they are written to be bad characters, but where is the development??? Where is the redemption of these bitches?? I see none, NADA. Well, At least Naoka knows she's a piece of shit and I see SOME development at the ending of the film, but MIKI?!?!?! WHY IS SHE EVEN IN THE FRIEND GROUP. Nah! if I was in the friend group, I would straight up vote against her being in their group, why do they even invite her in? She is what most people call, fake. She is one of those gossipers with a fake smile and I HATE those types of characters and she doesn't even get redemption, she just stays like that. It kind of pisses me off, but at the same time I get why, it is a movie and you can't focus on every character, but I still don't feel pleased when she on screen. The rest of the secondary characters are okay, but I mostly like Yuzuru, Shoukos sister and Tomohiro, Shoyas friend. These 2 characters have to be one of the most wholesome, second to Shoya and Shouko. Now instead of ranting about the others, let me get in with the major positives. I thought Shoya would be one of the most hateful characters due to the beginning, but no I was dead wrong. After the time skip, I have nothing but empathy for him and to see his struggles and inner demons along the way and how he progresses is so emotional, especially the ending, my goodness I was about to burst into tears. Shouko is no better at making me feel like crying waterfalls. Shouko is so sweet and through the entire movie I wanted to hug her so bad. A very tragic character throughout the movie and her arc made me realize myself as well, she is to me a very relatable character, especially since I was having a hard time during that point of my life as well, but until the ending of the movie, I realized what is special and how there is more to this life and that's what kept me going forward. This movie inspired me and others as well and that alone can make me not stop recommend this movie enough.
Voice acting, soundtrack, etc.- The voice acting in both dub and sub is top notch, one of the best I hard, especially the deaf representation through Shouko and how the voice actors captured of what a deaf person would sound like. This is one of the dubs that sound almost exactly like the Japanese version, so I recommend both versions if you prefer one or the other. The soundtrack is so pleasing to hear and makes me tear up, though some songs did not really fit the scene in my opinion, but it didn't bother me as much. As for other thoughts, watch it watch it and watch it, especially if you have mental health issues or want to see a very wholesome romance. This anime changed my perspective in things and in a way, changed my life, I know that seems extreme, but it really did and some liked it for other reasons which is fine by me. Anyways, see you guys in the next review, peace.
