Having never seen or read any of the Negima stuff, I didn't realize until partway in that this was a show set in the future of another show. That said, you don't really need to have seen negima to feel the connection the returning characters have with each other.

What jumped out at me most was the first episode of this series. If the rest of the season had been like episode one, this would have been an all time favorite for me. I think the story notches down a bit after episode 1, but I still found it very enjoyable. Some of ...

This gets a 9 from me simply because the romance goes beyond the will they / won't they, which already puts it ahead of 95% of romance anime. The characters are drawn well, and the voice acting is enjoyable in the sub.

The MC has no character and is drawn like a wet noodle, but his relationship with the romantic interest is engaging and the background story is interesting. The supporting cast really goes a long way to elevate this series.

The love story is teacher/student and it really didn't need to be, since the story doesn't really leverage this taboo.

It scratches the Isekai itch like a gas station satisfies my hunger for pizza. It tastes bad, but still tastes like pizza so you eat it anyways.

There's not much more to say about it, but MAL want me to write a longer review. The relationship between the MC and his love interest is the highlight of the series, but it gets the least amount of time. Throw in a healthy amount of fan service and blah strategy war scenes, and that about sums it up.

That said, I still watched the whole thing and can't say I didn't like it, but this anime is trash ...
