I started watching ReLIFE expecting nothing from it since I didn't really know anything about the source material.
But hell, I'm gald I watched it. The show quickly became my favorite this year (we are in August) and one of my favorites anime of all time.
If you are a fan of shows like Toradora, Yahari Seishun and Kokoro Connect, you're gonna love ReLife, since it's a rommantic comedy with realistic characters and of a lot of psychology mixed in it.
I would say it's not as complex and as deep as Yahari, but it doesn't need to be; the plot is still very enjoyable and creative. The
...
characters are all wonderful. It's one those anime that you wish you were there, hanging out with everyone in the show.
If you're around 30 years old, you're gonna enjoy it even more because there's A LOT to releate with the main character (at least that's what I felt). Even the ending credits... All episodes have a different song as the ending, and they're all songs that the main character would be listening as a high schooler in the late 90's and early 2000's. And yeah, several of the songs and bands the main character used to listen to were also stuff I used to listen back in days. That was REALLY freakin' cool (though, this will only impact you if you used to listen Japanese music back in those days lol).
Overall, excellent show, great characters, nice sound track.
ReLIFE is one of those anime you're gonna make you fell nostalgic right after the last episode, even if you watch everything in one afternoon like I did. Hell, at least we still have the manga to follow.
