Ok so before I read the original manga, I had watched all three of the Korean, Japanese and Taiwanese drama adaptations.
They were fun to watch, but I didn't really think to highly of them- so I wasn't expecting much from the manga.

This manga... oh my god. good shit, good shit right there.

The original work is !!!far superior!!! than any of the drama versions that have been released. The story and how the plot unfolds is handled *way* better in the manga.
For example, in the manga, Izumi knows that Ashiya is a girl from the beginning- and ... the reader is made aware of this from the start. In the PIECE OF SHET dramas, the viewer is completely unaware of what Izumi knows, even though the end reveals that he knew all along. This makes the experience far less enjoyable for the audience.
This is just once example of many times the dramas' plot has been changed for the worse.

Btw Izumi and Ashiya are SO cute together hihihi

This anime... wow. Just wow.
This anime has become the oxygen that I breathe- I am only alive because of its existence. It has (almost) restored my will to live.
Every morning, I only open my eyes because I know that an anime like Glass Mask exists. It is the EPITOME of what the anime industry has to offer and it will n e v e r be beaten in terms of its incredibly well-written story and extensive character development.

Seeing Maya's growth throughout the series was so satisfying, and I was never once bored when watching the show. The series also did a good ... job on creating a rival, Ayumi, that was not lazily represented as an enemy, or the 'bad guy' (like a lot of anime and other forms of media do).

Also the romance between Maya and Hayami was 👌👌

However,,, the ending FUCKED ME UP™.
It's one of those 'go read the manga endings' 🙄 I sat through *51 EPISODES* for this B U L L S H I T?? FUCK OFF M8

This anime is THE SHIT™. 10/10.
Initially, I wasn't going to watch it because the art looked like cancer, but I'm so glad that I eventually did.
I've heard many people say that 'the art is bad', and that 'there isn't enough romance'. SKIP BEAT IS A SHOUJO ANIME THAT CENTRES AROUND THE DEVELOPMENT AND GROWTH OF THE MAIN CHARACTER, KYOKO MOGAMI.
What people don't seem to understand is that, despite being a shoujo, the anime isn't just about Kyoko's relationship with Ren, or any other male lead. It's purely about Kyoko's growth as an actress and as a person, and her realising that revenge may not be ... the only thing she wants in life.
Another critique that I've often heard is that 'the anime is too short', or that 'it doesn't end properly'.
This is purely because of the manga being very long and still ongoing. The manga had begun in 2002, and is still continuing today. The series is yet to have an actual ending, so this would have been virtually impossible to achieve in 25 episodes of the anime.
Having said that, I highly recommend Skip Beat's manga (I prefer it to the anime) to those who disliked the anime's abrupt ending.
