Both are slow-paced, slice of life with adorable, warm characters. Himouto! Umaru-chan is more of a comedy than flying witch. Both involves the theme of growing up and has a good sibling relationships.

These animes share the same concept of samurai's during the Edo period or also known as the feudal era. In Brave 10, Sanada Yukimura gather 10 warriors to aid in his fight for what's right, as for Mushibugyou, Jinbe and the Insect Magistrate fight against insects attacking the town. Brave 10 has a light and comedic plot that follows Saizo Kirigakure. It also involves the supernatural, bishounen guys, and the art is beautiful. For Mushibugyou, the plot is also light so far but with a more darker feel as it involves the supernatural.

First off, I love the art in both of these animes and not just because there are many bishounen guys in both of the series, but also because of the scenery and the rich colours that were used. Both of these series revives back Japanese mythology and since I am not Japanese and knows little about the country's myth, I enjoyed learning about them. Hiiro no Kakera is light and it's directed more towards romance while Hakkenden has a darker feel because of each of the character's past. I prefer Hakkenden since I love the supernatural mix with a mysterious vibe. When I watch the series, the plot made me stay up until 3 am and left me wanting to know more of the character's story.

Both animé involves demons and the supernatural. The main characters have powers and skills that are yet to be mastered. They have the same dark but also light atmosphere, in Makai Ouji's case and in Ao no Exorcist, that has characters that relieve the tension. Both has its funny moments as well. Although William Twining is an elite who is born to a prestigious family and possess above average intelligence, Rin Okumura is the opposite. Both have an interesting plot that I would watch again and again, so I would definitely recommend if you like the concept of demons.
