I am actually really pleased with the improvements made between the two seasons. The animators have definitely gotten better with replicating Aida’s art style and there are a lot less mistakes than there were in the first season.

It is also great to see that they ended up adding in the Three Clock Keepers Arc since it was skipped in season one. I was originally worried since that the order of the arcs was already messed up they would not be able to fit it in, but they managed to make it flow together pretty smoothly.

They captured the new characters personalities really well and the casting ... choices are great. I felt a bit iffy at first when I saw the cast announcements for the newer characters because I was unsure of how they would portray them, but they actually did really well. Hanazawa voicing Shijima is something I will never get over just because of how great it is.

I cannot wait to see Lerche continue animating this series and I hope to see it improve even more once it goes on.

I do not know what my exact thought process was when I decided to watch this without looking into it beforehand. And oh boy did I make a mistake in doing such.

After seeing a post about it on social media and reading the anime’s title, I figured it would just be another romance anime with some spice here and there. What I was not expecting however was for it to just be a straight up hentai.

It kind of has a plot… but it does not really go anywhere. Not sure what else you would expect from something compiled of three minute episodes. One of the ... reoccurring themes throughout this is non-consent and while I do not normally mind scenes like this in series, when it is used to the point where it becomes one of the main themes of a story it is just really unnecessary.

I guess if you go into this knowing it is a hentai and what kind of stuff is going to happen you might enjoy it, but it was not my cup of tea and I do not see myself recommending this to anyone any time soon.

Overall, watching this and leaving this review was a complete waste of an hour that I could have used indulging in something way better than this. Do not make the same mistake as me and go use your time to watch something better instead. (Trust me there is hentai that is much more well-written out there.)

When it comes to older magical girl series, the original Cutie Honey is easily one of my favorites and is a great example of a show that helped set what truly makes a magical girl a magical girl. Its popularity and impact has led to multiple spin-offs and movies. But amongst all of the series to come out of the franchise, there is one that I don’t see as many people talk about, which is Re: Cutie Honey. It’s an OVA based on the 2004 live action film. It pretty much tells the same story as the movie, the only differences being that there’s nudity ... and additional character development that the film did not have, and though it may not be for everyone, Re: Cutie Honey is easily my favorite thing to come out of this franchise.

The shortened plot is a lot easier to take in and since it’s only three episodes long you don’t have to worry about too much filler, as a lot of the things that take place influence the story in their own way. The pacing is also surprisingly well for only having 3 episodes to go through everything that takes place in the movie, and they still had room to add more character development that wasn’t in the film originally.

One of my favorite things about this adaptation is the art style. The animation is very fluid, and the vibrant colors give it a unique feel. Gainax and Toei did an amazing job with this.
The character designs are also enjoyable, and the way that Natsuko Aki’s character was done is amazing. Originally I was worried that I would not enjoy Natsuko’s character due to how different she is compared to other adaptations, but she ended up being super well-written.

The relationship between Honey and Natsuko is drastically different from other series in the franchise, but if anything I prefer their dynamic here over the others. It’s a relationship that isn’t too rushed, and it’s fun to watch how Natsuko gradually warms up to Honey and eventually gains feelings for her.
