The execution is good sometimes, but its general idea is horrible.
Although I think that common tropes do have to be subversed, the idea of a book that cures vampires just doesn't click. It's not well-explained, at least in this first season.
There are some good fights though, and the steampunk worldbuilding is great. I like some characters, especially Joan. I also the protagonist, how direct (or tête-à-tête, to use a fancy French term) he is. He doesn't pull any punches, like most Shōnen protagonists do.
But not every episode is good, and I don't feel invested to keep watching, mostly because I don't like the idea
