Alrighty, first review. Excuse the (noobishness?) of the review considering i've only really read a few others. Just really wanted to get a review out. So yeah, non non biyori.
So I've never been a huge fan of moe-blob type anime. They're relaxing, fun, comedic and all, but I usually find myself rushing to the final episode without really taking time to appreciate the show itself. But with Non Non Biyori, I found it completely different in the aspect of delivering to the viewer with pure enjoyment. With other moe anime such as Tamako Market, barakamon, usagi drop, and the small part of hidamari sketch that
...
I did see, it wasn't even on the same spectrum of Non Non Biyori. I never attached myself to the characters as well as I did with this series. They all have distinct personalities, but ones that are not to stressed to the point of unrealisticness. Now to the scoring.
Story: 8
(+) Each individual story in the show has a very distinct objective at the beginning, but can go a completely opposite direction, which actually surprisingly creates some A-class humor imo.
(+/-) Usually 2-3 different stories in each episode, which for the ones who don't enjoy these types of shows can make the episode feel longer, but for the ones who love it, the lengthening feel of the episodes makes it even more enjoyable
( - ) With the series itself being episodic, you never get a continuous plot.
Art: 10
(+) Beautiful artwork, bright and colorful backgrounds which adds to the atmosphere of the show.
(+) Animation so good it creates it's own comedic situations
(+) Character design done wonderfully, expressions of characters and their interactions with the world they live in work perfectly together, well done Silver Link animation.
Sound: 9
( - ) Though the music in the show is relaxing and really makes you dwell deep into the show, it's not all to memorable, and is honestly pretty forgettable. And I'm not one to forget good soundtracks.
(+) Outstanding voice casting. All the voices fit quite well, but one single individual comes to mind whenever I think of the voices, and I'm sure it's the same for everyone else as well, Renge. This actually surprises me because I despised Kotori Koiwai's voice acting in Charlotte, which actually made me drop the show after episode 2. But hey, well done this time.
(+) A+ Opening with an exceptional ending song to back it up.
Character: 9
(+) As I said in the beginning of this review, the distinction of the characters are immeasurable to many other anime.
(+) The sound and art aren't the only thing to contribute to the atmosphere to the show. The characters presence and how they react to certain situations make the mood joyous and help connect to the characters in ways unimaginable
( - ) Not a lot of screen time for the twins' brother. Even though he was more of a gag character, I would have really enjoyed a skit or two (not even episode) with him leading the stories main character.
Enjoyment: 9
(+) With the tranquil and calm world that Non Non Biyori has and the lively characters it presents, the show never fails to disappoint a great mix of the two and often results in some unbearably funny situations.
(+) Learning about how the characters live and the situations they encounter along with how they deal with them is overall very enjoyable.
( - ) Only 1 or 2 stories I had no real interest in.
Well there is my first review, hope everyone reading it enjoyed.
