At first glance, this might seem a strange suggestion, but I have never found a another series more similar to Haikyuu than Chihayafuru! Both series center around characters who love a sport, and you can feel their love for it! In Haikyuu it's volleyball, and in Chihayafuru it's the traditional card game Karuta. Every match is thrilling and suspenseful, and every time the characters adapt and learn from their opponents, whether they win or lose. But the strongest similarity between the series is the incredibly amazing characterization! Every character, even the smaller roles, are portrayed with great care. If you love good characterization, you are sure to like either of these series!

In both series, a group of characters are traveling with no food, and have to resort to making food from the lifeforms around them. In Dungeon Meshi it's monsters from a dungeon, and in Astra Lost in Space it's whatever lifeforms inhabit the planets they travel through. Also, both series have a strong comedic approach. Though they also have some occasional darker moments, it's mostly lighthearted fun! So if you enjoyed one of them, you might also like the other one!

In both these series we have a main character (Kafka in Kaijuu no.8 and Yuuma in World Trigger) who joins a military-like Defense Force, while technically being the enemy that the Defense Force fights against (Kafka is a Kaijuu and Yuuma is a Neighbour)! And there's also that other main character (Ichikawa in Kaijuu no.8 and Mikumo in World Trigger) who learns about the secret and helps the other to cover it up. Also, Kaijuu and Neighbours are monsters that no one expects to be humanoid, at first. Despite this very similar premise, both series handle the situation in very different ways, so if you enjoyed one, you will likely also have fun watching the other!

These shows have such a similar mood, that if you enjoyed one, you're very, very likely to also enjoy the other! * Post-Apocalyptic World; * Adults keep a group of school children isolated from the rest of the world; * The children Disappear/ Die/ Get Sick for mysterious reasons; * "Fiends" and "Hiruko" are very similar monster concepts, but saying why is spoiler-ish. * None of the main characters are straight! * Other certain similarities that are too spoilery to describe, but that are very fun to compare!

Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint
|
These two series might sound incompatible, but there are some fun similarities between Detective Conan and Omniscient Reader: * The protagonist loves a certain novel and references it all the time; * He emulates or impersonates his favorite character on occasion; * He makes lots of snarky commentary in his head, but not out loud; * He is always thinking a dozen steps ahead and pulls some very complex gambit pileups; * The protagonist keeps this huge secret from his allies and has to lie to them all the time; * There's a girl in the same situation as the protagonist, and knows about his secret. She also has a somewhat evil personality; * There's this one character who is just as likely to help the protagonist as to sabotage him; * The antagonists are an organization that seems so untouchable and impossible for the protagonist to ever defeat, but he has to if he ever wants to live a normal life again.

Both World Trigger and Kaijuu nr.8 have a strong sci-fi-esque ambience, and if you're into that aesthetic, I recommend checking out either series! But that is not the only similarity! In both cases, the city is in constant danger from monsters appearing, and the protagonists are specialized in defending the city. Well, that's a strong similarity! But wait, it gets even stronger: while the standard weapons depend on the individual's abilities and creativity, there are some rare personalized weapons, that require the user's compatibility and that are made from other people's sacrifices. So, if any of those aspects captivated you in one series, you might enjoy it in the other title as well!

Despite the obvious difference in genre and levels of violence, both Pyramid Game and Surviving Romance share some key-aspects that you might enjoy in different settings: * A predominantly female cast, that you get to know one by one, at a slow pace; * The protagonist starts as a new student/ outcast and knows nothing about her classmates; * Being apart from the group, she has to first gain the others' trust, in order to protect herself (and also the others); * Very high stakes!

In both these series, the Female Protagonist uses her cleverness to repeatedly outsmart a much more socially powerful mastermind, who is threatening her livelihood. And she does it while maintaining her calm, cold-blooded demeanor! If you enjoyed that aspect in either series, you might get the same delight out of the other one!

Barely a chapter into Night of Shadows I was reminded of the Sweet Home atmosphere, and I believe that if you enjoy one of them, you might likely enjoy the other! I, for sure, am delighted to find another title similar to Sweet Home! Both series share: * An anti-social protagonist; * Disturbing, grotesque monsters that kill and/or eat humans, and are very difficult to kill; * World-wide Monster Apocalypse;

If you liked any of the aspects mentioned here in one of the series, you might like the other. Both have children as main characters who get involved in a situation that by far surpasses what they are able to do. While trying to survive (Infinite Ryvius) or trying to accomplish what they believe in (Gundam Wing), they are labeled terrorist and make enemies out of those who they belong to or those who they want to protect. Both series share politics and human emotions/actions as themes, even though in different scales: Gundam Wing is more focused on the philosophy of politics and human ideals, while Infinte Ryvius is more focused on lack of rules and human behaviour in extreme situations.

Code Geass: Hangyaku no Lelouch
|
Maybe it's CLAMP's story telling way that makes me think this recommendation is a good idea. In both, Code Geass (especially the R2 part) and X TV: * The main cast chooses their role in war to accomplish what they believe in, and both sides are simultaneously "right" and "wrong". * The main character risks everything he has to make sure the people he loves will have a future (Kamui, for Fuma and Kotori; Lelouch for his sister Nunnally). * The future, human emotions/actions and wishes play a very important part in the story. * A tragedy waits to happen (and does happen). If you liked any of those aspects in one of the series, you'll probably enjoy it in the other, too.

Durarara!! and Steins;Gate share quite a few interesting themes: * Both start off with a slow paced "slice of life" ambience that, very subtly, foreshadows the following... * ...Jump into a neatly intertwined plot. * Insane characters; * Norse Mythology references; * A sprinkle of metaphysics: Time Travel (in Steins;Gate) and Norse Myth Fairies (in Durarara!!). If you liked any of these aspects in one series, you'll most likely also enjoy the other. Also, there's the "same voice actor" bonus: Mamoru Miyano and Hana Kanazawa.

While the plot and storytelling-ways differ quite a bit, both these manga give off similar feelings. Along with the beautifully detailed art, a few disturbing themes are mixed in, and a great scale conspiracy seems to lure around the corners. But, even so, neither are excessively dark stories, triving more on lighthearted humor and fleshing out the characters. Also, both stories feature a prince and his sidekick on an adventurous quest, even if that's really all the main characters share. It's not certain, but I'd say there's a high probability that if you liked one, you'd like the other, too.
