Whenever I find a manga that qualifies as a masterpiece in my book, I feel the need to write a review. It is a silly compulsion, purely because I have little to say save "It's perfect".
The story and its development are smooth and natural, the characters are complex and lifelike. The ones which are not-so-human manage to capture the essence and ambiguity of what it means to be a human being. Eternal Sabbath is complex and simple at the same time, and it poses an eternal moral dilemma - is anybody born good or bad?
I loved everything in this manga. The sensitivity of ...

Keep Out (Manga) add
Preliminary (8/9 chp)
It actually does happen. I did not believe it was possible. But it is. This manga is so beautifully drawn that I really paid no heed to the story or the characters. The ethereal beauty of Kisaragi Hirotaka's art made everything else just fade away into insignificance.
Frankly, I don't know what the story is like, because I did not care. I suppose it's mediocre, because it did not disrupt the visual pleasure. It might even be good. Same goes with the characters. i was swept away by the beauty emanating from each page, I did not even stop to think about psychological development or ...

In short, this manga is sketchy. The characters have no depth and their motivation and behaviour are silly and mostly unprovoked. The art is in my opinion rather bad and it has no flow, no feeling. The story seems non-existent. What I resent the most is the fact that there is no chemistry between the characters, which is unforgivable. I guess when characters have no personality and they are set in a story that is completely bland you just can't expect chemistry.
It's bad.

Turning Point (Manga) add
Turning Point tells a story about a relationship between a young man whose future is undecided, and a man whose life has taken a wrong turn. It's definitely the best work by Takanaga Hinako I have read so far. The main characters are interesting, the art is great, and the story about their relationship and the problems they encounter is very good and convincing. Sakuragi as a character into which we have most insight is really amazing and realistic. Although Imamura does have a certain feeling of 'familiarity' and cliche about him, he still works perfectly in this manga.
What I enjoyed the most was the ...

Mimitabu no Riyuu starts really good with the first chapter, and in my opinion it should have ended with it. Going through the second chapter of this manga is tolerable, but all the subsequent chapters seemed unnatural and unnecessary, and the characters became a grotesque representation of what they were in the chapter one. Chapters 2/5 are pretty much identical, except for that feeble attempt at changing the point of view in chapter 3, which delivered the finishing blow to Yamaguchi's credibility as a human being. I think the mangaka attempted to make seme seem less of a seme, and uke less than an ...

Bannin (Manga) add
A lot of series of oneshots blend into an indistinguishable mushy substance after a while. I promise you, each of the stories in Bannin will remain perfectly separate and identifiable. The stories are memorable and each has a certain special little something that will leave a mark. Despite the fact that some characters 'look' alike, they are so nicely portrayed, that there's no chance you'll mix them up. The stories are original, disturbing, and they deal with the psychology of the characters and the nature of their (weird) relationships.
The last story, Meguriai Cosmo, is weird and at the same time hilarious; however it still ...

Preliminary (1/? chp)
This 44 pages long oneshot has more characterization, more depth and more psychological insight than most multi-volume mangas. The story of this manga centers on the psychology of the main character, and it does so magnificently. Tadayoedo Shizumazu, Saredo Naki mo Sezu is only incidentaly yaoi. Primarily it deals with psychopathology of a messed up teen who thinks he's just fine, but is all but.
The flaw I found with this manga lies in my greed – I wanted more. I just wanted a few more pages, I wanted to read more.
Regardless of my voraciousness, it's one of the best psychological oneshots out there, and ...

This collection perfectly combines the simple beauty of art with the intricate complexity of the stories. There's a lifelike equilibrium in these stories, that makes you hear the flutter of the wings of the butterfly. Bitter-sweet mildness intertwined with dark intensity is present throughout all the stories. Characters are unrelenting - they offer no explanations – they are who they are.
It astounding how a work of art can feel so profoundly real, and yet still be somehow celestial. Chou ni Naru Hi is like life – harsh reality interspersed with freckles of heavenly beauty.

Mucha Kucha Daisuki starts off just fine. With a kiss between a country girl and a guy from Tokyo. That's pretty much where it stops being fine and goes on to being pretty much disastrous.
I'm a sucker for shoujo mangas. I admit it. I don't mind your usual passive girl, and a tough cool guy jumping through panels to save her. As long as the characters are consistent and likable, and the art is good, I don't mind that it lacks in realism.
The main female character in Mucha Kucha Daisuki is a moron. I mean, she must be, because she gets played around like an ...

When you read the synopsis for Kimi ga Koi ni Ochiru you'll probably think that it's not worth the while, especially having in mind Honami Yukine's Rin. But it is.
The development of this seemingly generic story has a really nice flow. Nothing in this manga feels unnatural. The shift of love interest is not arbitrary, and it makes sense. The characters are not archetypes and they are, in all their actions and emotions, real and convincing.
Aside from that, it has another great thing going for it and that's Takanaga Hinako's art which conveys even more feeling and beauty than the story does.
Kimi ga Koi ...
