TL;DR - Great if you like wholesome, cute, bite-sized stories with good food art and cute characters. Not-so-great if you do not enjoy repetitiveness and/or are expecting plot progression, overarching storyline, conflict, or character development.
My full review + thoughts: After seeing that an anime of this manga would be coming out, I decided to peek at the manga a little to get a sense of what the story was like. After reading 50 chapters, I can safely say: There is no plot. If you like super wholesome, feel-good, cute art, and well-drawn food, then this is perfect for you! This is a gag manga that
...
has bite-sized stories contained in each chapter. What added the most humor for me is the fact that despite it being a fantasy setting, the characters often do very modern things (i.e. owning a smartphone, riding rollercoasters, going to a ramen shop, etc).
However, from what I have read so far, there is no conflict, angst, or anything in this one. Every chapter follows this exact formula: Tortura tells the princess that it's time for the interrogation -> The princess is adamant about not giving in -> Tortura brings out the temptation -> Princess gives in immediately and spills a secret -> Bonus: They tell the Maou and there is always a reason why the secret is useless and they need to do the interrogation again. It does get very repetitive.
I am going to continue reading to see if there are any plot progressions. This is my first review in a while, so I don't remember if I am able to edit reviews, but I will definitely update if there is any.
