How beautiful it is to just press pause and stop this chaotic world for just ten minutes. In the complete absence of thought I found myself appreciating what I was looking at, a beautiful piece of art. Art doesn't always have to picture a realistic portray of the world, but this time it does just that. You look at the background imaginary and you see yourself finding similarities with places you have been to in your life. The color of the sky, the houses, the streets, everything reminded me of pieces of the world i experience daily. Never before I had felt this sensation watching
...
an anime. This is where you understand the director's meaning behind this little film, he wanted to paint a world where you can breathe freely and that at the same time leaves you breathless.
How beautiful it is to find peace for just ten minutes. What a privilege it is to watch the work of an artist. I can't always call an anime director an "artist"because it wouldn0t be the correct term to use in this community where art becomes a mere product. But little gems like this are worthy of all that trash. Don't waste your time, watch Rainy Day.
(Not to mention that the story is pretty emotional, Shelter doesn't even come close.)

Do you enjoy seeing kids cry and suffer? Me too!
Made in Abyss is an anime you definitely should watch right now. It's good. Go watch it now, you don't need to read the full review, it's so much better than 99% of anime. The staff that worked of it did a masterful job, everything is treated with such care that it's almost impossible to not be charmed by it.
This is my score

You may notice something weird. Why the hell is the overall only 6 when the mean of the other scores is 9.5? The answer is simple, it's because I am a piece of shit, I like to point out everything that doesn't sit well with me about this anime, and I'm gonna do that now.
The negative sides of Made in Abyss are pretty obvious as soon as you start watching it, the kids are written in an inappropriate way, with sexual innuendos surrounding them that reflects japan's inappropriate interest in pedophilic themes. I found myself being disgusted by that so I can't ignore it. The second reason why my score is only 6 is because this anime is about a journey into the abyss, which only just started, so basically we end the season at its start point. I have to rate the season as a whole, i think they should've done 24 episodes at least to go a bit forward into the story.
Now onto the positive sides. The story was crafted with care, love and passion. The world of Made in Abyss is complex, fascinating and beautiful. The characters feel genuine, they have natural bonds and act in a coherent way with their characterization. This anime is without a doubt a superior product compared to other anime, if I had to rate it without taking in consideration the negatives it'd be a 8, and I tend to keep my scores low, so trust me when I say you will enjoy this without a doubt.

What a nice feeling it is to see these two losers managing to have an healthy marriage. This anime might be incredibly cathartic to many anime fans who are not used to be in love or in a relationship. Usually anime as a medium shies away from talking about intimacy between two people, we always see neet who have their "2d wifus" but we never get to see a marriage between two real people. This anime is short and lovely because it tries to pass the message that you don't have to change yourself or your hobbies to be in a relationship, you don't have

to be like everyone else, you can just be yourself. This anime also has one of the most beautiful episodes ever, despite being only 3 minutes (which is episode 11 if i remember correctly) that paints being single in your middle 20s in an almost perfect way.
It had his bad moments, at a point i wanted to rate this a 1/10 for a stupid joke that was made and that i hated it to disgust. But i can overlook those all thanks to episode 11 and the ending of season 1, which was beautiful. I stll haven't seen season 2 and I probably won't because this season ended at a perfect moment and i'm scared it'll be ruined.
Animation, sound, and art were all pretty basic since this is a 3 minutes show.

How the hell do you write a decent review for an anime that is perfectly written? Nisiosin created the zaregoto novels when he was 21 yo, the same age as I am right now, and in comparison I feel like a kindergarden kid. Before starting this anime I was brainwashed into thinking this was not a mystery story and that the mystery parts were just a facade. That is not true, this is a mystery story. I don't know how the zaregoto novels progress because I didn't read them, but the anime was definitely a mystery, and an impeccable one.
...
You will be exposed to the mentality of the different characters. The key word here is "twist", how do we perceive reality? do we blindly accept everything we see as true or do we go deeper? do we have the curiosity to go further and is there even a reason to do that? what can humans accomplish if they point all their focus towards a goal? what does it mean to be a genius? As I said, the mystery is not only in the plot, but also in the way these characters relate to life. I can't say I was satisfied with the ending and I'm deciding if I should or should not read the novels, I can just say that for now the romance elements were completely pointless and annoying, and that was probably what they were meant to be. The more I think about the way the romance plot was developed the more I get angry, I was left with a conclusion I can't accept, it goes completely against my philosophy in life, and I decided that if an anime makes me think outside of my comfort zone then it did its thing. The second thing that annoyed me were the shaft shots, which I find particularly irritating.

Let's start! The thing that I found really precious in this anime is its pureness in showing the relationships between the characters. Love flows everywhere, and it flows easily. You won't have the tension where the characters struggle to decide to put a name on their feeling. Male MC knows he's in love in episode one, and because of his love we get some of the most hilarious dumb shit i've ever seen in anime. This one is truly funny, it reminded me of Tamaki Suou's level of idiocy. He fails at everything he attempts to do, following the traditions

of classic comedy movies of the past. The plot is non-existent, this is a slice of life anime after all, the only plot there is are the two romantic storylines. At the end, we can't really call this show a proper romance, but if you are looking for genuine heartfelt interactions between two characters of the opposite sex then this is for you. The art is pretty, it feels like 2017 anime in general have this new thing where all the characters are drawn in the american shot, which is extremely weird to see, but the effect is not as bad when you get used to it. The sound is nothing exceptional except two or three lines in the op. The characters were wonderful, you take every clichè in the genre and you deconstruct it, what you get is Blend S. It's a deconstruction of the Cute Girls Doing Cute Things genre. We do have Cute Girls Doing Cute Things but.... The tsundere is and inept, the loli has a really mature mentality, the idol is a ### and we have two guys who they have romantic storylines with. Which ends up being hilarious.

Clearly the best part of the anime, it starts as a mystery and all the loose points get tied up in the end like a magic adorable ribbon. It goes too much into absurd at times, which is in contrast with the storyline, which is really linear in the end. Anyway, seeing how it ends it's really satisfying, almost every episode ends in a plot twist.
Decent. The colors are pretty and the rooms of the house are pretty detailed. One thing i don't like is the character design, but that is just personal taste. Animation is not very fluid.
The opening

is catchy af, the rest passes by.
I loved them by the end, they were all my little cuties friendies patooties pretty cuties. At the beginning they almost had 0 character traits and you knew nothing about them, BUT. As the plot progresses the characters progress with it. Very interesting thing that I haven't seen in othe animes.
The difference between this anime and the others is one: it takes you by surprise. The peculiarity of it makes it original, and because of that i can't help but rate it 10.
