Goblin Slayer is a simple anime at its core. There are only goblins that have to be slain. You won't find anything more profound in the anime. But I wouldn't necessarily consider it a bad thing. I'd say that it's something new in a genre all about high stakes.
Story: 6/10
The animation in the Goblin Slayer is not exceptional, but it's also not bad. It feels fluid and satisfying. The soundtrack of Goblin Slayer is something I enjoyed very much, but on that, I might have a bias. Since Mili is the group that made the OP and some of the OST in Goblin Slayer, and I'm a fan of that group. Nevertheless, the soundtrack has the right tone for every situation. It's somber when you need it, and it gets your blood pumping during the essential action sequences.

Characters in Goblin Slayer are simple, but they do develop throughout the anime, so you can't say they are two-dimensional, even though we know them only by their job titles.
Characters: 7/10
For a show that's entire premise is based on slaying the goblins, I'd say it's extremely enjoyable. The kills are satisfying while the slice of life parts serve as a good breather between the more intense sections.

Overall It's pretty good anime, with a decent plot and characters. It's not that dark as whistleblowers made it seem. And for those who say that ”rape scene” ruined the smile for them, I say grow the f**k up, try watching Claymore or Berserk and then complain. The rape scene served its purpose very well. You are no longer sympathetic to a Goblin race, the race that needs to abduct women to reproduce. It made goblins seem scarier than their conventional counterpart. But Crunchyroll is a bit at fault because they rated the show PG-13 which it isn't. Now they put a disclaimer in front of every episode as if anime was the darkest fantasy of all time.
