A truly outstanding season from one of my favorite Anime's of all time. (some spoilers)
I'll preface by saying that me giving this anime a 10/10 isn't based on any objective standard that measures every single aspect of a specific series. For example, while I don't believe Karakai Jozu no Takagi-san 3 has the best story and best animation ever, it's still a 10/10 in my mind based on my overall enjoyment.
I won't go too in depth as to why that is (don't want to make this a long essay review), but suffice to say that the blend of a simple romcom plot, characters that you
...
grow to enjoy, as well as some true character development and progress towards the eventual relationship that is 'teased' (pun intended) by the show's fast forwards showing us that Takagi and Nishikata eventually get married and have a daughter, make this anime romcom stand out among the rest. Knowing that they eventually do in fact get together, and not just acknowledging it by way of plot assumption, but actually showing true progress as each episode goes on, makes me enjoy this anime even more than most romcoms that appear to be never ending, or appear to have no true character development or progress.
TL;DR
Karakai Jozu no Takagi-san is a romcom anime that has a beautiful blend of lovable characters, some of the classic romcom anime tropes, as well as actual true character development, in my eyes.

Story and Characters:
Kono Oto Tomare is my favorite anime for Spring 2019.
The story revolves around Chika Kudou, a misunderstood high school student who struggles to find his identity, he has been disowned by his father leaving him with his grandfather a Koto luthier. Through a series of unfortunate events Chika's grandfather dies, feeling guilty, Chika vows to join the Koto club in order to make amends for his mistakes and create a legacy in honor of his grandfather with the help of his club members.
Despite Chika having a primary role in this anime, every other character has an equally important subplot which
...
adds to the overall complexity and completeness of the story. Every character in this anime is interesting and likable.
Art:
On the animation and artistic side, this anime has a very nice blend of very beautiful and realistic style, mixed with a very cute chibi art style. During the musical performance sequences we can see some great attention to detail with the animation. Overall excellent artistic presentation.
Sound:
On the sound department, Kono Oto Tomare excelled thanks to the beautiful Koto pieces played through the season. On the opening and ending department I would say the opening is adequate and catchy, however not the best I've ever heard. The ending on the other hand fits perfectly with this anime!
Kono Oto Tomare is a story that demonstrates how ones internal struggle can be remedied by the power of love, friendship, and music. Every episode in this anime is perfectly crafted in my opinion to demonstrate these qualities.
Overall this was my favorite anime of the season, the story is excellent, every character is complex and interesting, the music is amazing, and the art and animation is beautiful. An easy 10 in my eyes!

Truly a masterpiece in my eyes.
Right off the bat I will say the ReLife is my favorite anime of all time.
The story of this anime really hit me hard. If you have ever felt like your life is going nowhere and that you are at a dead end, this anime will hit you right in the feels. The protagonist Kaizaki Arata is super relatable. All the characters in this anime are a joy to watch. Despite the serious themes that are touched in this anime such as anxiety, bullying, depression, and suicide; this anime still manages to stay lighthearted and
...
very hilarious at times.
On the animation department ReLife isn't really that impressive, however it has a really charming art style, specially with all the cute chibi moments.
ReLife feature an excellent opening, Button by Penguin Research is easily one of my favorite anime themes of all time. This anime has different ending themes between each episode, these songs are all from the early 2000's which combine perfectly with the protagonists actual age in the anime.
Overall this anime is a masterpiece in my eyes. It managed to touch me in a way no other anime has ever managed to do so. The story is outstanding and all characters are relatable and charming. This anime is an easy 10 for me.

Egao no Daika might appear as another generic Mecha anime, and it very well might be; however, there is something charming about it. While the mecha fights aren't anything spectacular, and the story isn't anything ground breaking, I still found great enjoyment from seeing how the story unfolds from the perspective of princess Yuki from the Kingdom of Soleil and Stella Shining from the Imperial Army of Grandiga. Both of these characters are of equal importance in this anime so the screen time is split between them allowing you to see how the war between both factions is impacting both sides.
I found both
...
protagonists to be interesting and likable, most side characters are also pretty interesting and likable as well.
Visually speaking there really isn't anything special, although not a bad looking anime it really isn't the best either. The mecha fighting sequences are also normal, however not very memorable. Pretty basic stuff I would say.
As for sound design the opening theme for this anime is spectacular, I would be lying if I said that part of the fact that I also enjoyed this anime is because of it's opening.
Overall I would say that this anime is pretty good, if you're not into mecha anime you probably won't like this; but if you're like me and you're able to forgive it's short comings it's a really nice anime to watch on the side.
