This anime made me write my first review. (Which is another way of saying sorry for potential sloppiness.)
Well... This was a bloody ride and I enjoyed every second of it. If you haven't watched the first couple of episodes, I'd recommend doing that first. Going into this blind is a really fun experience. For anyone who has to be persuaded to watch it, go ahead and read on.
Story (7):
Overall, the story was pretty good. It's not the best out there, especially since it doesn't exactly portray an average path to adulthood as you'd expect from the summary, but a more dramatized, messed up version. I
...
really liked that part, though. The first couple of episodes are pretty mild and cutesy and then there's a moment where you realize that it really isn't as innocent as you thought.
The last episode was a bit all-over-the-place and rushed in my opinion. It did tie everything together in a 'neat little bow,' but a child was the one who tied it. Obviously, it's because the source is an ongoing manga, but the ending really put an abrupt stop to the story.
Art (9):
Now, I'm not an art expert. I don't know anything about art, so when I judge it, it's purely based on my experience watching the anime. For this one, I really liked the mild colors that were used. The characters were also cutely drawn with a slight blush on their face. It adds to the idea of innocence and purity and the soft colors make it easy, even calming, to watch.
Sound (8):
I didn't listen too closely to the OST, but some scenes had remarkably beautiful music in the background which made the entire experience just a whole lot better.
I definitely recommend watching this one if you want something entertaining, unpredictable, messed up, but cute all the same.
Character (7):
I could write an entire essay about this one, describing each character and all of that stuff, but I'll keep it short and simple.
Most characters are really complicated, and it's a journey discovering more about the characters, while they also discover more of themselves. Some parts aren't explained properly enough, though, and I found myself wondering quite a few times what the heck was going on.
Enjoyment (10):
I can't remember one time where I was watching this anime and I got bored with it. The drama in it, the fast pacing, and the different main characters all help to keep it entertaining to watch. I don't know if I could recommend binging it, since it can get a bit heavy at times, but it's really great to watch if you just need some wind-down time.
Overall (8):
Does this anime have its flaws? Yes, of course, but so do most. I would definitely recommend giving this one a try. It's not an anime everyone will enjoy, I'm sure of that, but you don't know for yourself until you give in and start watching.
