Too many irons in the fire
The Russian flirt, the mysterious childhood friend, the sister flirt, the powerful family interfering (with ninjas lol), the student council election. I wouldn't be surprised if they get isekaied to a fantasy world next.
The author probably wanted to make the story progressively more complex, but clearly something went wrong, every new element that gets presented doesn't fit the tone up to that point and comes off as weird and unnecessary. Moreover every new situation is introduced without fully resolving the previous one, killing the sense of progression of the plot.

Imagine going to computer science and pretend to write novels. Even if you're the best novelist ever, it still makes no sense.
Just like in Mashle, a kid without magic powers attends a magic school, however there are subtle differences. First, the protagonist doesn't try to hide the fact that he cannot use magic, yet he is allowed into the school because "it is fun" (a.k.a. lazy writing), and, most importantly, the show takes itself way too seriously. You can build a fun comedy on top of stupid premises, but a tragedy needs solid and believable ground, to create empathy with the viewer. Characters are so stereotypical that, ...

No one in their right mind should ever copy Arifureta, yet they did, and managed to make it worse.
I remember laughing hysterically at the first dragon in Arifureta, but the truth is that even the worst CG you can get used to. Not this time tho, this one is painful, as the PS2 level CG is alternated with some good hand-drawn frames, as a constant reminder that you are watching a terrible show. The characters don't help either, everything is very confused, the same backstory is told five times, but each time differently. No one seems to make sense, and it all feels like a mess of ...

It is bad,
the story is that of any trashy isekai anime, same goes for the character designs and the animation is bad too, however, once I got past episode 1, I was pleasantly surprised. It is obvious they were on a budget, but they almost always manage to stay within their means, avoiding flashy stuff and using many tricks to make fights easier to animate, without resorting to ugly cg. The result isn't a masterpiece but a respectable anime with good timings, good flow, that is overall enjoyable (except for episode 1, that's very trash, I don't know what they were thinking).

The protagonists of this season are tables, with chairs as the side characters, and cups of tea as plot twists.
This show is a big giant meeting, everyone explains things over and over again, and episodes end with hooks to fool you into thinking that something will happen in the next one. Everything is fine, but the writing is crazy bad
There is a scene where a fire started inside a theater and our main character, Elise (of a very high ranking family, second only to the imperial family), tells some nobles not to breathe the obviously toxic smoke. Well... the show, out of thin air, pulls a nobles vs commoner girl cliché, and they start ranting about how they are nobles and superior and she is no one to tell them what to do, all this while breathing the smoke and coughing. It was so absurd that had me laughing, however, the other times this happens are not so ...

Starts fresh. Falls into already seen narratives.
The thing I probably loved the most about this show, was how characters were mostly developed through natural dialogue, a very intimate solution, that made me interested in their stories as if they were friends of mine. But then, the annoying cliché flashbacks kick in... and with the intent of getting the characters closer to each other, they, instead, manage to get the viewer far away from any involvement with them. That, of course, is just one example. More generally, the show progressively replaces its extravagant, yet original ideas, with dull, unoriginal ones, and flattens its finesses one by one. ...

The anime is technically decent. But the characters personality and traits have been completely changed, so that you can barely recognize them.
I enjoyed the first season mainly because of the huge hype that got built around the main character who always looked powerful and mysterious. The hype was build in a crescendo, in such a way that you were pleased to wait 3 episodes to watch the 2 minutes of him kicking everybody's butt. In this season though everybody gets to be overpowered for no reason whatsoever. The E class students, who were nothing more than decent, are now on a magician soldier level, and ... |
