Ahh where to start with this... I guess as a Fate fan, this series was the natural "next step" in consuming and enjoying fate media and so it is with great honor that I am reviewing this.
A couple things to know right off the bat:
1. I know that this anime is based on the Fate/ Grand Order game, of which I have played none of. Therefore, some of my Grand Order knowledge is understandably lacking
2. I made quite the movie journey to get to this point, which, now having watched Absolute Demonic Front, I would also recommend you watch if you are interested in
...
getting into F/GO. I am by no means a master at this series but the movies definitely serve to describe and help one understand what exactly is going on in F/GO Absolute Demonic Front. I will be reviewing this anime given that I have watched those movies prior, which will naturally affect how I perceive the story.
3. Henceforth in this review, for brevity's sake, this anime will be referred to as simply F/GO, Babylonia, or F/GO Babylonia.
Lets start!
STORY: 7
This is a slightly lower score than usual, especially considering how I enjoy Fate material. However, there is good reason for this. Overall, this anime is quite good story wise, but it does lack some spice that really brings it over the top. Of course, given that it is an offshoot of the whole Fate Universe gives it a great head start in terms of world building and having the watcher (myself) understand what is going on, but the story itself, or the plot, is unfortunately a bit lacking. To start, roughly 75% of the anime follows a journey like plot, where Ritsuka and Mash travel from place to place collecting specific pieces, servants, and knowledge. I believe there is a specific term for it, often used derogatorily, but I forget what it is. Anyways, the issue with this is that its not interesting really to watch Ritsuka and Mash go from one place to another, completing "quests" in my opinion. The story lacks flavor in this sense and is very linear, too linear in fact. Now, I can understand that this might be based on F/GO gameplay, i.e. needing to collect certain power ups/servants or level up xp, but when translated into a watchable format, it doesn't quite work. In an watchable format, the watcher loses that involvement that the gamer would have, and so the story becomes quite trite.
The other 25% of the anime can be described as "The Bossfight" where Ritsuka, Mash, and their collection of Servants go up against the "Big Bad Boss". At first this was a breath of fresh air in comparison to the questing portion-- there was stakes, development, and interest. But to spend 25% of the anime on it, it really becomes quite drawn out. And when it gets drawn out, some ridiculous storytelling begins: Of which the worst is infinite power ups and all out deux ex machina. I literally lost count of how many times servants died and came back because it was convenient, or how many times the "bad guy" changed and evolved. Once drawn out, things just become a slog.
The resolution to this anime is quite good though. Although the bossfight was tediously drawn out, I'm still glad on some level that the boss wasn't just defeated in one strike. At the same time, there was some exploration of societal themes as well, so overall it wasn't like terrible. It's also enjoyable in the sense that there is action and lots of fate plot devices going on too so even though I complain a fair bit, I still enjoyed the story.
ART:10
I've been notorious with art, especially for telling myself things like "Nothing will ever rival Fate art" and then switching to "Nothing will ever rival Ufotable art and animation", but I must begrudgingly add this specific anime to my venerable list of "Nothing will ever rival [x]". The art is just fantastic, and I can't say anything else. The backgrounds are great, art is crisp and sharp. Animation is smooth and even the more intensive fight scenes don't fall apart. This was one of my gripes with the Art for Fate/Apocrypha, is that a lot of the fight scenes at the end definitely fell off HARD in quality, but that is definitely not the case here. I will say the decision to use CGI for the final boss is an interesting choice, quite out of place, but its not horrendous. Besides that though, color choice is good and reflects the sort of fun action story that this is. The Art style as well is fantastic and nostalgic, it really reflects the style of the Fate/ Stay Night franchise that is generally highly rated. So overall, the art is not groundbreaking but it is excellent.
SOUND: 9
Now usually I don't give a rats bottom about the OP or the ED, but damn for this anime, I found myself enjoying both a fair bit. The OP is quite quick and upbeat, although it strikes a minor chord, so its quite nice as an upbeat starter. The ED is a bit more melancholy but in my opinion it fits the story like a glove.
But the main reason for this high sound rating has to be the SFX in the anime itself. They are amazing. They do really well to convey impact and ring, and overall just fit all the animations super well. Especially in the fight scenes the sounds are really well placed. Solid scores for those.
The VAs are well chosen, nothing out of the ordinary, simply good as expected.
CHARACTER: 8
Personally, I liked most of the characters in the anime, and this is one of the points that makes this anime so good. Many of the characters benefit from being well known in IRL history, so they already have points of connection for the watcher. Although our esteemed Saber doesn't quite make the cut, all of the characters that are shown are good. Ritsuka in particular is quite a refreshing character after rethinking Shirou from F/SN, but I personally feel that Mash is underdeveloped. Besides Mash though, I think all of the main characters really show development, and movement from being one person into another which I vastly appreciate in this character rating. In particular, Ishtar is well done in my opinion, not really losing too much of Rin's personality while also showing her own impetus and growth. And of course, seeing Gilgamesh in a different light is also nostalgic and refreshing.
ENJOYMENT: 10
The most subjective part of a review is the enjoyment, and since I gave it full marks, I'll have to preface this by saying that I am a BIG fate anime fan, so this is obviously biased because of that. But personally, I think this anime is fantastic. Its enjoyable to the fate fan, and it feels like a fresh take on the grail war. Of course, a first timer with little background might find themselves lost in the details of this anime, but personally I enjoyed it vastly. It was like a smorgasbord of Fate plot devices and a mash up of old and new characters- equal parts exciting and new as well as old and nostalgic. The fight scenes are jaw dropping and the choreography is organic, and of course the art in my opinion is absolutely stunning. And so because of that, I thoroughly enjoyed this anime, I can't give it less than a 10.
OVERALL: 9
Overall for me, this anime is a 9. Essentially it comes down to: this anime does everything for me as a fate fan, but the story still lacks just a little bit to push this to an overall 10. Like I mentioned before already, the art is fantastic, the choreography is fantastic, the fight scenes are amazing. The characters are enjoyable, multifaceted, nostalgic. But the sort of game=like influences on the story just don't do it for me. Also as mentioned, the story really becomes drawn out in all aspects, which unfortunately makes it so I cannot give it a 10.
So if I math it out: 4 for enjoyment + 3 for art/animation+ 1 for the characters + 1 for sound =9 overall
Peace.

I usually don't write reviews about anime that are like this (i.e. old, and not seasonal), but I felt like I had to make an exception here due to my ambivalent feelings about this anime. My basic thoughts on this anime are: a little good art never killed nobody.
STORY: 7
Honestly, the story is good enough. The setting is idyllic and rustic, and gives off a medieval vibe throughout. The names seems to hint at the location being in Spain, which is a welcome change for an anime. The premise, although not entirely believable, is good enough and the sort of twisting of the witch
...
hunts of the dark ages is interesting and captivating enough of a story foundation. However, a few points are knocked off (at least for me) due to the nature of some of the conflicts within the story. Most of them are rather contrived, and after time end up being trite. Most are solved when a MC dons the armor and slashes the villain one time, without much building. This is especially true in the first 10 episodes, which I found to be the worst episodes of the series, and of any series for a while back. However, despite this, the story overall is still very good, the following 14 episodes definitely save it some. If I had to describe it, its like a looping rollercoaster: kinda fun the first time, but the loops are all the same.
ART: 5
Probably the worst rating I've ever given art in an anime, but honestly I was going to give it a 4 if it wasnt for the second half. I was honestly expecting much more after finding out that the studio behind this anime was MAPPA, but I guess my hopes were short lived. The animation is rather chunky and not smooth, and the art itself in terms of lines and details, seems shoddy and rushed. Especially in the first half, I feel like my eyes actually suffered watching it. Anything that looked good was basically CGI, which even though I'm not one who hates on CGI, its just so jarring given how the rest of the anime is drawn. As for the art style, I'm gonna say it: it sucks. Its horrendous in my opinion. The Main characters look like half baked pokemon and the eyes are pretty unusual. I'd say unique if I was unbiased but honestly I don't think I've ever seen such bad art. And I know art is subjective but damn. Definitely not my taste. Anyways, putting the art style aside, I still found much of the first half to be shoddy, and even parts of the second half too. The second half is animated much better and definitely saves this rating from a flat out 4, and the animation does take a step up. However, the art style is the same, in other words, unenjoyable.
Sound: 6
Overall the sound is okay. Nothing crazy good, nothing crazy bad. Some of the VAs are mediocre, which bring my score down a bit. OP/ED were weird, slightly different from the norm, which isnt bad, but definitely isnt good either. Overall, 6 sounds about fair.
Character: 9
The redeeming quality of this anime is it's characters. Even though I bitched about the art style, I can still recognize decently good character when I see it. Most of it comes down to character development. the two main MCs go through a refreshingly large amount of character development, which is always great to see. they are multifaceted instead of flat, and work well together in the story. It even follows a slightly epic version of the character with a metaphorical death and return. I definitely enjoyed this portion of the anime.
Enjoyment: 5
Why is my enjoyment so low? Well, to me an anime is definitely a weaving of story and character and art, but its also largely the art and animation. We watch things with our eyes and what we see is the art and animation. Sure all the other factors play in, but the major factor, at least for me, in terms of enjoyment is the art. And so suffice to say, I can't rate my enjoyment any higher than the rating of the art. Its almost a baseline for enjoyment, the visual aspect of it. Like, the word anime is literally short for animation. Unfortunately for this anime, the art detracts from the whole experience, bringing my enjoyment to a 5
Overall: 7
I'm pretty ambivalent about this anime, it has some bright spots but also one of the major aspects of the anime bring it down for me. I think a happy average of 7 works out for this anime. Now, did I write this review just to bitch about the art? Yea kinda lol. I got nothing else to do right now. But honestly the art and the animation are huge aspects of stories, especially visual mediums like this. This is why a-list movie actors get paid so much and they don't even do their own stunts half the time: because visually, they are appealing on the big screen, whether that be looks or their acting chops. They know how to look good (and not just by beauty standards, by acting standards). Its the same way with anime: looking good and appealing is a baseline for an anime. If it doesnt look good how can one enjoy it? at the very least, the enjoyment could be higher if the art was better.
Mathematically, as I like to do, I'd give it a 4 for story + 5 for characters -2 for art gives a total of 7.
peace.

Havent done a review in a while, but this anime prompted me to put some thoughts down about it, since I have some pretty mixed feelings about it. Death parade gamifies the judgement process after death, and at the same time explores some basic philosophical questions about life, humanity, systems, and of course judgement itself. Lets get into it. (No spoilers)
STORY: 6
The story is probably the most polarizing aspect of the show for me, and thus it would be easiest for me to explain this by breaking it down into two sections. The first section encompasses episodes 1-8, and the second 9-12.
Episodes 1-8: Overall,
...
I was unimpressed by episodes 1-8 by storytelling standards. These episodes do minimal backstory and worldbuilding, and tell the story of four pairs of dead people. The episodes failed to intrigue me and most of them were basic rather predictable. In addition, most of the action in these episodes was based on false tension, as the characters stake their lives on the game, but they are already dead. The characters themselves could be interesting case studies but are too predictable to be worth the effort. I found this first section to be repetitive of the story and only really showcases the abilities of Decim and his bar. To be honest, they could have easily squeezed these 8 episodes into 5 due to the repetitive nature of the judging process. Rating episodes 1-8, I would give it somewhere between a 4 and a 5, though leaning more towards a 4.
Episodes 9-12: Coming into episode 9, I was ready to drop this anime for the reasons explained above, but luckily episode 9 was a turning point in this anime. (okay, I wasn't actually gonna drop it. It was so spectacularly boring up to this point that I had to finish it to see where it ended). From episode 9 on, I'd characterize the story as...meta. I enjoyed the last 4 episodes quite a bit and was left wondering why it took so long to get to this point. From here on, basic philosophical questions were posed and answered, which is not usually my cup of tea when it comes to anime, but it was cute and not a bad thing to think about. The characters became more emotional and showed more motive and purpose, which I liked as opposed to the first 8 episodes. Story wise, it was much more enjoyable than the first 2/3rds. I'd rate this section between 7 and 8, though closer to an 8. Theres also a bit of OTP romance thrown in at the end which I am a bit of a sucker for.
Overall, given these two sections I rate the story at a 6. I think episodes 9-12 are fantastic even if they do pose the most basic of philosophical questions, but episodes 1-8 in my opinion were tedious to get through. I think that if you haven't pondered these philosophical questions before, then the anime overall could be more intriguing with it's story and meta-story, but for me it failed to challenge any of my beliefs in any meaningful way. Because of this, along with a dull 8 initial episodes, I cannot rate this story overall at more than a 6.
ART:8
From an unbiased point of view, the art is fantastic. The lines are crisp, animation is smooth, and every episode is consistent. The colors and backdrop are well done and the color palette they chose matched perfectly with the theme of the meta story and the elements of the storyline. The cinematography wasn't the best but it was definitely good enough. I did point out that this is from a more unbiased view, and that is because the character design and art style are not exactly what I like personally, but as it is the art of the show, I'll try not to let that overshadow the obvious effort that went into it. I rate it at an 8, simply because it did not exactly blow me away for it to be 9, and 10s for me are reserved pretty much only for Ufotable stuff. So 8, very respectable score from me.
SOUND: 8
OP and ED are great. VAs are well chosen, consistent, and match the mood of the character quite well. I'm not a huge sound buff so I can't comment on this more than what I have already. The background music is nice, especially in complementing the jazzy bar mood of the Quindecim.
CHARACTER: 7
Again, judging the characters in this anime follow a similar pattern to what is described in the story. For episodes 1-8, there isn't much that was truly intriguing, and most of the supporting cast was rather predictable. The two main characters, Decim and the Black-haired woman also are predictable in what they do. There is some character development, but it is minimal. However, I won't doc too many points in this section since I feel like this lack of development is characteristic and situationally correct. Moving into episodes 9-12 I started to enjoy the characters more. Many of the characters provided development as well as emotional scenes, which although are rather trite, are still emotional and good at making you feel something. So overall, better than the story, but only by one point or so. 7
ENJOYMENT: 6
Once again, this is an amalgamation of episodes 1-8 and then 9-12. If I were to judge these separately I would give episodes 9-12 a solid 8, but I found it difficult to enjoy episodes 1-8 with their triteness. I think that the story is interesting but not intriguing enough for me to enjoy it fully, and so I couldn't rate my enjoyment of this anime at anything higher than a 6, maybe 6.5. Again, a lot of this does come from myself though, having already done some thinking about these more axiological, metaphysical, and epistemological questions. For someone who has not done much thinking towards that end, this anime could be more enjoyable and thought provoking, though in the end no more than a springboard into the watcher examining his/her own philosophical underpinnings.
OVERALL: 7
I liked the ending of the show even if I dislike how I got there. And so all things considered, I rate this anime as good, but not like amazing or anything. I think I would have enjoyed this more if episodes 1-8 were more action packed and paced more quickly, and maybe more time was spent instead building the world that the arbiters live in. Of course, I would have also enjoyed this more if I had watched this like maybe 6 or 7 years ago, before I had built a strong personal philosophical foundation. I like the ending a good bit, satisfies my OTP tastes while leaving the story open ended. Overall doing the math thing I always do, it would be something like 2 for story + 2 for art/sound+ 1 for character +1 for episodes 9-12 +1 for the ending itself = 7.
But honestly its more like 1 for episodes 1-8 + 6 for episodes 9-12 = 7 overall.
Peace.

If you've ever read any of my anime reviews, you'll know how they usually go. But this one is gonna be slightly different. Kinda because of how bad it was, and kinda because I am lazy.
The main problem with this anime lies in the animation, the plot devices, and the characters. Which is basically the whole anime. If you don't know the gist of this anime, its basically the OP MC genre. And I've watched hella OP MC anime. I enjoy OP MC anime. But this particular anime really just doesn't offer anything story wise. So lets go through that.
1. Plot devices- The
...
main plot device, and one that I hate after watching this, is the MC's forgetting art which basically forces the people around him to completely forget that he is extremely OP. However, while this provides some logical backing to the other characters not seeing how OP he is, it really is infuriating that the MC has to do this, essentially making every plot movement redundant and as if it never happened. Without any movement, the story doesn't go anywhere and you get an extremely boring story. Even in other generic OP MC anime there's some form of plot advancement, usually centered around the OP MC slowly being recognized as overpowered. However, with this forgetting art plot device, there is none of that in this particular anime. Which for me constitutes a huge problem in how the story is allowed to flow: its basically not.
2. Characters: The characters themselves are also relatively bland, and the MC himself is a prime example of this. The fact that he has to keep his powers sealed (despite them leaking out) makes for a very poor character as there is again, no movement with his character. The supporting cast is entirely static, or makes little progress in terms of character. The MC himself is also poorly done, a completely nihilistic and unlikeable MC.
3. Art: although the art is relatively good, the colors sound (albeit slightly bland), the animation and action scenes are sparse and poorly done. One thing with OP MC anime is that they do get carried by the animation and really good fight scenes because OP MC anime already have pretty basic storylines, thus they have to appeal to the audience in different ways. And of course, one of the things people like to see with these types of anime is how the MC is going to smack down his opponents. However, there is almost none of that in this story, which leaves the audience feeling empty without it and makes the story visually boring.
Other notes:
- The music is good, nothing to write home about though.
- The world-building is pretty good though, the city and the back story is good.
- the fourth wall breaking humor, although slightly overdone, is not too bad and is relatively good taste.
- This anime is done completely in Chinese, and as someone who speaks Chinese, this didn't bother me in the slightest. However, worth noting if you're expecting JP language.
- This was so unenjoyable in fact, that i watched this in 1.5x for about 10 episodes. unfortunate for someone who really does enjoy the OP MC genre.
OVERALL: 4
Grading this, it would be 2 for world building +1 for art and + 1 for comedy for a total score of 4.
I would avoid this anime, or at the very least be very apprehensive about trying it. It does hook you in well, but after the 2nd episode it does nosedive in quality and enjoyment.

Lets see. Its been almost 5 years since the last season was released, and I have been fervently waiting for it since then. The last season felt like it had many fans, and as an anime-only watcher, I think this season does not disappoint as a sequel. It is not without it’s faults, but after waiting a long ass time for this season to drop, it’s definitely satisfactory. As the last season really struck me as one of my favorites, expect a slightly longer review on this one lol.
STORY: 8
The story itself is not fantastic, so I can’t give it a 10 or a
...
9. However, it does do a good job of making out a story with all of it’s basic dramatic arc pieces. It definitely lacks somewhat as in terms of being revolutionary, but thats hardly a fault in itself.
[+]
1. I think this anime does the job well story wise, presenting a somewhat compelling arc without the too technical jargon that plagued the first season.
2. Not having to world build definitely left some extra room for the story to grow. The story makes sense, and there isn’t anything that really drags it off course. Overall, its easy to digest.
3. Tatsuya’s OPness: no punched pulled. Which I love. Keeping Tatsuya at the same level of “OP” really does make the story move.
[-]
1. The story itself is a bit... rushed i think. If you have watched the previous season, I think that they really nailed the pacing there, with three roughly 8 episode arcs for a nice 26 episode season. Here, I think they tried their best to replicate that but i think that effort was lacking. Although this was one arc, realistically its more like one and a third. Which sort of works counter to the pacing. The first arc centered around the gang and Lina, and then a small arc surrounding the New Breed Front. There isn’t much cohesion between the two. The “first arc” is a bit too long and missing key moments that stand out because of that, and the “Second arc” becomes too rushed and lacks substance.
2. Tatsuya’s OPness is way too overlooked. You’d think that by this moment, people would know by now and try to at least acknowledge him, but none of that exists. Thats just too much boneheadedness for me.
ART: 9
The highest score I can give to any anime not named “fate/stay night UBW”. But in all honesty, the animation is crisp, the colors are fantastic and really match with the first season so nothing is lost there. No changes in style and the characters also look great. If you liked last season’s art, you’ll like this one. There is definitely less CGI in this season, which I also appreciate. But, besides that, very above average art that you’d expect from a good anime.
SOUND:10
To be honest, I’m not really a sound critic, nor am I a OP/ED listener, but I did find myself enjoying the Opening song more than usual. The sound does get bonus points for really bringing back the nostalgia of the last season, which I described as being EDM-ish, and I’ll back that again. Great sound overall. No VAs out of place, so there’s continuity there as well.
CHARACTER:9
Overall characters are great. The new one, Lina, is really well done and the story for her is well developed. We got to see characters grow and each one added their own imprint on the story. There weren’t many non-impactful characters, which I like.
One negative that keeps it from being a 10
1. Tatsuya’s position: what really made the previous season pop with their characters was Tatsuya’s lack of status, especially in relation to other students. Since this season focused less on the school and more on outside factors, this gap factor is lost and Tatsuya’s character also loses something important about it.
ENJOYMENT: 10
Nothing short of a 10 here. There’s a huge nostalgia factor here, but the whole anime is a great trip and truly does bring that same feeling that the first season had. I love it and enjoyed every second of it.
OVERALL: 9
Lets see, I think I really addressed everything above. Overall this is a 9 just on averaging the scores. The story could have been better and the season could have been longer to include more material, but overall its good as a successor. So overall, its a 2 for story + 2 for characters+ 3 for enjoyment +1 for nostalgia +1 for visuals =9 overall. I’m really happy with this season, but definitely sad that it’s over. Hoping for a third season.
Peace

I don’t really know why I picked this up, I think it was for the art, but in the end, this was really just another middle of the pack type of anime. But, here I am writing a review of it after finishing it, so it can’t be that bad right?
STORY: 7
If I had to describe the plot of this anime with one word, I could, and that word would be: coincidence. The plot is so heavy on the coincidental meetings of our two main characters that it really becomes the only plot device that advances it. It’s pretty ridiculous, and in my opinion pretty
...
poor writing. Too predictable, and too contrived. Definitely negative remarks there. Moving on though, the rest of the story...is not too bad. It’s not entirely new, more of a repackaging of stories in this sort of fantasy/magic/harem genre. So nothing especially new here. I was going to give it a 6, but I’m going to bump it up a point because of the potential. As an anime-only watcher, I am excited to see where (if) this anime goes. The build up in season so far is great as a build up instead of a story. If taken in the right direction this could be a story that I would greatly like to see, and would be something that not many stories can successfully pull off. But until then.
ART: 8
Basically it’s the highest I can give it. A 9 would have to be exceptionally above the norm, and I don’t give 10’s anymore. The colors and the sharpness are great, the art style is rather appealing as well given that it does have a uniqueness about it. Nothing particularly garish, and the designs of the characters are good.
SOUND: 7
Again, not something that I watch or listen to on the norm, but I guess its ok. Nothing special to write home about. OP/ED are forgettable, and the in-anime sound complements the action as it should.
CHARACTER: 7
Characters are slightly one dimensional, there is some development, but not much. As I pointed out earlier in the Story part, this has a lot of potential to be a gorgeous story with some exciting character development, but as far as this anime goes as a season, not seeing it yet. The characters themselves are again, middle of the pack, nothing special about them, and nothing that really sets them apart. But again, the potential is there.
ENJOYMENT: 8
Overall enjoyment of this anime... well, I did enjoy it somewhat, but honestly not that much. I wouldn’t really recommend this as a top-of-my-list type of anime, but its good enough to pass the time. There isn’t much more to say here, its definitely not compelling enough in my opinion to warrant enjoying it.
OVERALL: 7
Overall, this anime is a 7 for me. Yea, I’m still reviewing it even though I usually only review anime’s that are exceptionally good or horrendously bad. But, its a seasonal anime, and I’m down for reviewing those. So, in sum, not that great to be honest. Definitely a very average anime, with a very coincidence-heavy plot. A lot of my praise does come from seeing this anime’s potential though, I think that the story so far is great as a setup, and it could lead to greater things in the future. Hoping for a season 2, but not really sure that it will get one. If they had paced things a bit quicker at the expense of weaker character development, it could have worked. Anyways, breakdown of the 7 score is 1 for story + 3 for potential + 2 for art + 1 for enjoyment= 7 overall. Yes my score is heavily reliant on the potential future avenues this anime could take, but hey, the possibilities are there and they excite me, even if this anime as a standalone season did not.
Peace.

Heya its yaboi ecchiman back with another review. Came across this anime on my instagram feed, decided I’d give it a watch. Its surprisingly good for a netflix anime to be honest. Since it’s quite new, I decided I’ll give it a review, even if it ain’t ecchi.
STORY:8
To be honest, not a bad story at all. It could be slightly reused, but each arc (4 in total) were thoroughly entertaining and fun to watch. It doesn’t really bring anything new to the table, but it does add something quite... nice to the table. The comedy is pretty well done, although its not quite the

comedy that will make you guffaw, the action is done pretty well, and the story is very enjoyable. It made me go “nice” quite a few times, even if I wasn’t “wow”-ed by everything. Some plot holes but overall a nice score of 8 for a good story.
ART: 9
The art is amazing. Its definitely different from any other anime i’ve watched and its definitely different from the traditional Japanese anime. The color palette is great, the character designs are great and the drawings are great. The color palette is actually quite well put together, works well to symbolize the events in the anime. Animation is smooth as butter, simple and clean. Action scenes don’t look to miss a beat, and the backdrops are amazingly designed as well. The only reason it’s not a 10, well, because 10s only exist for one anime, and this one doesn’t surpass that anime (unlimited budget works). Also missing the bare titties and ass as always. But alas the search continues.
SOUND:9
Both the OP and ED are catchy and have a good groove to it. OP is nice and quick, creates good tension to capture interest in the events to come. Art that goes along with it is nice as well. ED is slightly slower, not bad either. Jazzy, with cats, so not much amiss. Sound track within the anime fit well, nothing bad to write home about. Music was driving when necessary, James bond/mission impossible vibes all around. The voice acting is also amazingly done, and there was really good care given to the Chinese voices in the story as well. As a mandarin speaker, I could really appreciate the Chinese accents and language in it.
CHARACTER: 10
Honestly, wavered a bit here, would give a 9.5 but that rounds to a 10 more or less. I think the characters here all have great backstories, slightly repetitive on the theme of tragedy, but nonetheless shape each character well. Each main character also goes through a good deal of character development, which is an absolute plus in my book. Great character writing throughout honestly, providing quite faceted, nuanced, and realistic characters.
Enjoyment: 10
Throughly enjoyed this anime throughout all 23 episodes, pacing was great, events were sequenced well, and the storytelling was superb. Each character felt real and 3-dimensional. The story was engaging enough, nothing super thought provoking or philosophical, just enjoyable. The comedy... is there. Its there. Kinda. Its nothing absolutely show-stopping but it’ll elicit a chuckle once in a while if you like that type of humor.
OVERALL: 9
Story is slightly lacking which takes away from the full 10 score. Also the art and sound were great but not extraordinary. Loved the characters, enjoyed the plot. Overall, I think a 9 or 8.5 is quite fair. Once again, this isn’t going to be some sort of existential or philosophical film, its an action flick with some comedy. It just also happens to have some great characters that are written well. So, breaking it down as always, Id have to say 4 for characters +2 for story +2 for art + 1 for enjoyment = 9 overall.
Peace.

Not gonna even front, I started watching this cus I saw clips of Uzaki’s noice bust on instagram. But hey, can’t blame me can ya. Its pretty sugoi, as her favorite shirt suggests. Its also one of the few ecchi animes for this season, and I def want to review the ecchi here as well. Ill do that at the bottom.
STORY: 8
The story is pretty straightforward, pretty simple. You have a girl who wants to hang out with her senpai, have some fun, and talk/eat/drink. Throw in a lil romance as the story progresses and they spend more time together, have some comic relief
...
characters and yep, you got yourself a nice mellow happy slice of life story. The writers did well to make it diverse and have each episode be unique, and each episode tackled a different subject, which I liked. There was variety, even if the general theme/arc was the same.
Art: 8
Gave the art an 8 since that’s my default rating for new anime art. With it, you expect it to be at some standard, and this one meets it. Theres nothing superb about it (which would warrant a 9 in my book), but it gets the job done. The animation is good, the colors are good, and the character styles are good as well. Nothing super amazing, but again, nothing done wrong either.
Sound: 8
Gonna give it an 8 as well, sound is good. Again, similar to the art, the sound was fine, nothing special in either a positive or negative light. I did like the VA choice, i felt like they did a great job bringing the characters to life, and imbuing personality into them. The OP/EDs didnt strike me as anything special, so only listened once.
Character: 9
A surprising score here, as usually your slice of life/ecchi anime usually dont see much character progress, but hey, this one does it... slightly. More so than your average ecchi anime. So a 9 here. Theres definitely progress to be seen, and progress to be made with these characters, but I did enjoy watching them grow in a sense, together. I felt like although small, its worth giving an extra point to.
Enjoyment: 10
I really enjoyed this one. Especially for the story and the antics that each episode brought. I felt like it was a great mix of romance, comedy, and just daily life experiences. It was easily digestible, nothing out of the ordinary.
ECCHI: 4/10
I wanted to write this in, even though it wont factor in (that much) into my overall rating. I guess this anime is ecchi, but like by my standards in the loosest sense of the word. No nudity for one. Barely any sort of sexualization. Very light. Its quite sad imo, seeing the quality and quantity and extent of ecchi go down as an anime like this will be called “too ecchi” by some. Like bruh, theres hardly anything here.
Usually ecchi falls into two categories. You have either ecchi anime by humor, or ecchi anime by art. By humor, thats just when you have a lewd joke anywhere from once in a while to a saturation of them. By art, well thats nudity. This anime has neither. The humor could be categorized as ecchi at some points, but its barely there. Like, barely. The art, same thing. Sure Uzaki has something close to like an H-cup, but like ??? Just because its voluptuously sized doesn’t mean it has to be sexual in nature. Most scenes that could be construed in that sense are offset by the fact that both Uzaki and Sakurai are adults, act like adults and understand that accidents happen. So in my book, this anime is barely ecchi.
Overall: 9
I think this is a fair score. Its a great anime. I recommend it. Its a lighthearted anime that you can enjoy at 3 am. Not much thinking needed. Just relax and enjoy the show. Most of my score here comes from enjoyment. Anyways, breaking down the score id say its something along the lines of 4 for enjoyment + 2 for story + 2 for character + 1 for Uzaki = 9. She’s a great catalyst for the anime as a whole, slightly predictable but very fun to watch.
Peace.

Ya boi ecchiman is back with a review after many moons of absence. This looks like an easy one to do.
I think this anime has gotten a bit of bad rep but you gotta consider why you’re watching this anime in the first place.
Lets start with the title “Misfit at Demon Academy” or whatever. Something to that extent. Where have we seen this title before? Oh, in just about every other OP MC/ fantasy magic school title ever. Now why are you watching it? Because you enjoy dat shit bro. So enjoy it. You already half know what you’re gonna get out of
...
it already. So why front.
Don’t go into this anime expecting some intricate storytelling with an exquisite plot that you already know that its not going to have. Essentially, don’t go into this anime expecting it to fail per your standards, and it’ll be (so far) a damn good ride.
STORY: 7
The story is good. Its not great, its not amazing, but its definitely not bad either. Its engaging, has a decent plot, set up, and atmosphere, and the world thats created feels like, 75% genuine. So pretty good. Of course, where it fails mostly is that its not anything new. We’ve seen stories like this before, and we’ve seen the progression of those stories. These follow nearly the same standards. But, you shoulda already knew that going into it, its part of that genre. You don’t expect an ecchi anime to be wholesome, or a horror anime to be a romcom. This story, although good, is nothing new. But you knew that already right. So 7 for good plot. If there were uncensored titties I woulda bumped it to an 8. But alas, seemingly devoid of ecchi.
ART: 9
The art is great. No two ways about it. Animation is crisp, colors are great, and they complement the story and each other well. No clashing colors on the same uniform. I would even daresay that the art actually makes the story much easier to digest. Easy to identify characters. It does suffer from the whole everyone-but-the-MCs-look-the-same syndrome, but its not too pronounced. But yea. No complaints here. Except, again, would have been a 10/10 if there were uncensored titties. Or ass. But I digress.
Sound: 9
During the anime episodes, nothing special to write home about. Musical tones and chords supplement the atmosphere and don’t detract too much from the overall story. Helps the watcher piece together/make sense of how one should feel. But its as it should be. I still rate it pretty highly because I actually was vibin with the OP, something I NEVER EVER do. Sorry, I’m a serial OP/ED skipper.
Character: 7
Lets be honest, this is the same schtick as the plot. You know whats gonna happen already. You know who’s gonna be like what already. I mean, OP MC with hidden power? Seen that. OP MC that makes a harem? Done before. So in line with those standards, these characters are pretty good. I would knock it down a peg for the pretty generic harem that springs up around our MC, they’re like all the same WITHIN THE ANIME, WITHOUT REGARD TO OTHER SIMILAR ANIME. So some points down for that. Also, that harem is annoying and doesn’t advance the plot much. But all the other characters? Good. Not much in terms of development, but come on. You didn’t come here to watch development, you came here to watch some foo kick some major ass. I will say though, this is the first time that I’ve encountered a reincarnated demon king that actually cares for his/her surrogate parents, so props to the story/character writing for that.
Enjoyment: 10
If i came into this anime expecting it to fail, I wouldn’t be writing this review. But since I came into this anime expecting to watch some dude absolutely annihilate everyone, this is nothing short of a 10 in the enjoyment category. I enjoy the shit outta this anime. Just the right balance of story, action, tension and also a cool sense that everything is gonna be alright.
Overall: 9
“The best part of the vacay isn‘t the end, but what you did during it ”
- Some Dude, idfk. Mebbe its me.
With an anime like this, you already know the destination. MC PREVAILS. Thats the destination. Kinda like every fiction book you read as a kid, adolescent, even young adult. And I’m not talking about some Brönte Wuthering heights book, I’m talking like James Patterson because I enjoy reading books book. The journey is the best part of this anime, like all good fiction books. How does MC get to the prevailing? It just so happens that in this anime, its badass buttkicking. And boy is it some good buttkicking. So overall 9.
I kinda forgot how I used to do the whole math thing with these reviews, but I’ll give it a shot anyways (who’m i kiddin’ of course I remember). Uhm... 2 for art and 2 for the characters that I like, 2 points for the badassery of an OP MC, and 3 points for enjoyment= 9 overall.
Peace.

Damn.
I came into this wanting to like it. Like, ecchi is MY THING (not like exclusively my thing but I like it alot my thing). But I came away from this feeling quite... ambivalent. Sad cus I personally felt like this story/anime had a lot of potential.
Story: 5
This is like even on my scaled up rating for story since usually ecchi animes dont have much story to begin with (in other words, its pretty bad even by my ecchi standards). The main gist of it is: man wins competition. Bunch of women wanna fuck him. Now, that in and of itself isn’t bad
...
at all. In fact, i’ve scored similar anime much higher than 5 for having a similar story. The main reason why I scored it so low is for these fuken NTR vibes. Like, this story had some great art, good character designs, and a perfect set up for some good ecchi action. But the NTR. Bruh. That killed the anime for me. Even someone who generally enjoys ecchi for ecchi, I found myself asking myself, “why am I watching this if I’m so repulsed by the NTR?” I don’t know either. Maybe because I wanted to like it, but evidently, I did not. Sad.
Art: 8
I mean, what do you expect. Each episode is roughly 12 minutes long, its a new anime that takes advantage of all the technological new art advances that come with new anime. Art is good, the style fits the story and genre. It would be a shock if the art was actually really bad. I scored it an 8, knocked it down from a 9 because its very good, but nothing special.
Sound: 9
Now I didn’t expect to like the sound this much, but I did. Almost standing directly in contrast to the story, I actually enjoyed both the OP and the ED, and thats saying a lot for someone who usually skips that to jump right into the ecchi action. But other than that, the VAs are good, nothings out of place. Its not a 10 since it didnt blow me away, but its at least a 9 for having some OP/ED that I liked.
Character: 4
Just a couple of thoughts before the whole analysis spiel.
1. Lisa Alpacas is so hot. She isn’t like waifu material but like “I smash tf outta her if she let me” material.
2. Why do animes use anglicized names like “peter” for their characters? It throws me off so much. Its so weird to see an anime character go “peter-kun” or “Raul-san” lol. But thats just me. Onwards...
The Characters in this story are all flat, no real character development for the MC or the Harem. But eh, its fine, the focus of the anime is the ecchi, so I’m not going to knock it that much. But it did detract from the overall enjoyment of it, so I cant rate this too high either. The MC, despite being strong AF is an idiot and can’t think logically or help himself. The MC’s fiancee is so brain dead the MC could cheat while she watches and she still wouldnt understand whats going on. Flat. Bad. Moving on.
Enjoyment: 5
I really wanted to enjoy this. I mean theres so little ecchi anime coming out these days, especially like those from the past (i’m talkin full frontal uncensored nips anime like HSDXD or Freezing or Sekirei etc. etc.). But this anime really didnt do it for me. It wasn’t fun to watch and half the time I was so fucken worried that the MC was gonna get caught by his fiancee for smashing other chicks. Like bruh. I dont wanna have to worry about the MC when I’m trying to enjoy some mindless ecchi. Really turned me off.
Overall: 6
Overall, this anime had alot of decent elements, and alot of potential to be a good (not great) ecchi anime. But the fuckin NTR is such a turn off. Like if you dont care about that, and you like ecchi, great, you’ll love this. But for me, this was simply unenjoyable. I cant give this anime anything higher than a 6. Breaking it down, id say 2 for sound, 3 for ecchi and 2 for the art, but -1 for NTR. Like damn. So much potential just wasted.
Peace.
