*cracks fingers* Hah, seeing the score, it is high time someone told you that Fairy Ranmaru is a modern masterpiece.
If you are a straight guy that doesn't like this because it's got naked men who have some homoeroticism... Change that about yourself? Like, get some glasses? Rethink why you find a good series to be appalling? See if you don't have some biases about gay people or """girly"""" things.
Ok, now that we got that out of the way, it is time to talk about why Fairy Ranmaru is amazing.
First of all, it is bonkers. Amazingly stupid. The actual plot starts quite late
...
into the story, but it doesn't matter. What matters, is that the journey to that point is actually very fun and entertaining.
On a more serious note, I really give props to this anime for at the very least touching on subjects such as sex work, being gay and in the public eye, family issues, overworking and much more. Every episode seems to touch upon such a theme and it is something quite interesting to see. I especially liked the episode about the pole dancer, it was amazing to see such a person presented in a good light.
But coming back to the actual great things about Fairy Ranmaru. Well. Big mommy milkers. Thicc thighs. Juicy assests. Gay angst. And if you don't like it because it's guys who do this... Well, read the first part of the review again.
The animation and music are actually very good for some reason. Like holy fuck someone genuinely put effort into this glittery dumpster fire. Like that deserves mad respects.
So, yeah, watch it you cowards. Although, I might add, you need a big IQ, and an even EQ, to genuinely grasp the nuances of Fairy Ranmaru. Get them.

I will start by saying that this is what "The Fault in Our Stars" should have been. Yeah, yeah, they don't treat the exact same subject, but the difference between Kimi no Suizou wo tabetai versus TFOS is that one of them reads more as a kind of suffering porn (idk the exact term, it had one but forgot it), while the other one feels more like a gut wrenching story about finding yourself through someone else and then tragically and unexpectedly losing them. They seem like the same thing, but one is executed pretty well.
KimiSui has a pretty interesting story. It is sort of
...
bland at its surface, but the concept is interpreted and delivered, and I like that the characters and their personalities didn't overshadow it. And I think that this is the beauty of this movie. It is not about the characters. It is not about how exciting they are, it is not about what they go through. It is about what their relationship means, it is about how their opposite traits blend into each other and are probably the same. A beautiful movie, even though it had pretty mediocre characters and story.

The Eccentric Family could be described as a modern fairytale, since it has this fantasy plot set into a city-life installment.
This anime is nothing more or less than a fun ride. It's a pretty laid-back series, in a good sense, because it allows you to immerse in this fun world without being too attached to it. In this universe, there are three kinds of creatures that roam through Kyoto: tengu, tanuki and humans. The story is centered around the Shimogamo family, with a special focus on Yasaburo, the third son and the most laid back one of the family, and his weird adventures. Even though
...
this unusual family tries to live a peaceful life, the death of their father still affects them up to this day.
The first 10 episodes do a great job at fleshing out the characters and their relationships. We get an in depth perspective at what drives the characters to do the things that they do and why do they act in a certain manner. Some characters, such as Benten or Kaisei, are still keeping a mysterious aura around them, which enhances, more than anything, their appeal to the audience.
I have to say that the last episodes, which are more tense, fell a bit flat to me, since I had never had the feeling that there was a real danger for the characters. Even though the laid-back and fun atmosphere fits the first couple of episodes perfectly, this atmosphere doesn't go well with the rest of episodes, which posed a major drawback. Nonetheless, I still found those episodes to be highly enjoyable, but I would have liked something more mature and dark.
In conclusion, The Eccentric Family is a great anime series if you want something light and enjoyable, and I definitely recommend it to anyone who has time for it.

If you've seen a romantic comedy, you could say you have seen them all. Most romcoms tend to be repetitive, to the point where you can't tell them apart. Most of them have the same plot, and overuse the feared, predictable love triangle and misunderstandings to create conflict and drama.
That's where School Rumble says: "fuck you".
This series is unlike any romcom I have ever watched. I could go as far as calling it a romantic comedy deconstruction, since it takes the concept of a romcom, smashes it into pieces and twists it. Basically, School Rumble is to romcoms what Gintama is to shounen series.
The
...
love triangles and misunderstandings, which are sources of drama and conflict in romcoms, have a new purpose in School Rumble: to create laughter. It's so hilarious to see characters getting through so much shit just because they misunderstood a name or a situation.
And speaking of characters, this is maybe the strongest feature of this show. I wouldn't say it is my favorite cast ever, but I have had lots of fun with them, and I could easily name them all, since everyone had a distinct characteristic at least. There are some characters such as Akira or Imadori that fall flat, but there are more seasons, so I hope they get more screen time. I like how characters change so subtle during this series, and how their relationships develop.
The character designs and the overall audiovisuals are pretty mediocre. Minus points for horrible CGI, but it was made in 2004, so at least it has an excuse. It doesn't affect the overall quality of the show tho.
In conclusion, I strongly recommend this anime if you are looking for a different romcom, that actually makes you laugh and has memorable and enjoyable characters.

I could picture Araki Hirohiko at the end of the third part of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure hurdled up in a chair and thinking about his other random ideas buzzing into his head, as if they were telling him that the Joestar family isn't done showing off yet. But what else could he tell about this story? The climax has been already reached in Stardust Crusaders, with DIO being finally defeated and the survivors getting back home. Dead end.
I could actually picture him walking through his town, asking himself "what if...?". What if we replace the standard shounen antagonist with someone we simply see in the
...
crowd. No special charisma, no flashy clothing, nothing that could ever drag your attention to him. What if, instead of the world ending threat that has been present in JoJo up to this point, you get to see a silent city with deep scars taking its revenge on the crimes that a certain nobody has committed? What if, instead of those friendships that form between people in need, we see just a group of friends that get through some hardships, but really enjoy themselves and want to spend time with each other, be it chasing a serial killer or hanging in a cafe.
You get a hell of a series.
"Diamond is Unbreakable" is, in my opinion, the best part of JoJo up to this point. It was successful where the other parts failed, and it is so satisfying to see Araki grow as both a better drawing artist and story crafter.
The animation of this part happens to be inferior to the other three parts, but it makes up for it by using an eyecandy of a color palette. Seriously, the colors were so bright and beautiful in this series that I didn't care about how weird Jotaro looked. I could understand why David Production had a hard time animating this part of the manga, because it was a crucial point for Araki too. Was he ready to give up way too massive for their age boys for the ones that had a realistic body that wasn't 90% up of muscles? He tried. And he was successful, because from this part onward, JoJos look fucking human, not just like a walking mountain with (arguably) personality.
But god, in terms of storytelling, it is far superior. One thing that I loved about DiU is that it doesn't feel like it's Josuke's story. Or Koichi's. Or Okuyasu's. Or Rohan's. It's Morioh's story. Over the course of thee 39 episodes, I enjoyed seeing a group of friends having fun, chasing a villain, encountering an alien, things like that. Yet, I have never felt that the focus was on Josuke especially, even though he is the JoJo of this part. He got to shine as a crazy diamond, and those moments are blissful. But Josuke was designed to be a teenager, and so he is. He doesn't have the care of a primordial being destroying the world or an immortal vampire that is after his family. Seeing a JoJo acting like a teenager is somehow relieving.
The supporting cast of this part is well rounded as well. It's not like every character is just a tool or a motivation for the protagonist to pursue the villain and defeat it. Heck, the villain doesn't even show himself during the first half of the series, letting us get immersed in this town's life before introducing the villain. I really loved every character, especially Josuke, Rohan and Yoshikage Kira, and generally felt more attached to this cast than the one of Stardust Crusaders or Battle Tendencies or Phantom Blood. The fights got even better, because a considerable part of them weren't just show offs of physical power, but battle of wits. You could expect anything from this battles, and it every fight is memorable and interesting.
One theme that is recurrent in this part is fate and fighting against it. During the second half of the story, it all becomes a fight against fate. Kira Yoshikage has been constantly carrying a fight against his fate as a serial killer. All that time, he just wanted to blend into the background and fade away, living a peaceful life while killing women for their beautiful hands. And when fate finally catches up on him, he is struggling to escape it, and he is not the only one.
In conclusion, the fourth part of this masterpiece definitely deserves a shot, as it is well rounded, interesting and engaging. It presents us with a large cast of magnificent characters, that are sure to give the audience a good time.

This, my friends, is what I call the anime of the year. No, when you say omiai aite blablala, you say *bold* anime *bold* .
And by that I mean that this is hat your friends think you watch when you say that you watch anime.
I have to say that it was enjoyable. I, as an individual, find this sadistic pleasure into enjoying hentai plot. Yes, the tagging system is shit, this one is hentai. A mild one, but still hentai.
The story is pretty much... let's say unrealistic, in lack for a better word. Like, there is this teacher, she dates a young man, who
...
happens to be her student, and he is actually the brother of the guy she was actually supposed to meet. Happens to most of us from time to time.
The story could have been interesting, exploring the age gap between two characters that have deep and complex personalities, and how could they solve their misunderstandings and develop an intrigui- nah, better let them have sexy timez every darn episode, like who the fuck cares if the girl gives her C O N S E N T or something. Sorry, she is actually a woman, a teacher that has graduated a college, has a nice body, BUT IS STILL A VIRGIN SOMEHOW. I mean, really now, she is so stupid that it's impossible that someone hasn't taken advantage of her. Actually, I bet they stopped halfway through, reconsidered their lives up to that point, and left, probably blue-balled.
And seriously, how could she fall in love with that freaking jealous fuck. That guy should have had green eyes or something. HE WAS JEALOUS BECAUSE SHE FELT TURNED ON WHEN HOT WATER POURED ON HER PU--VALLEY OF WONDERS. I crapped myself laughing.
In conclusion, is this a terrible anime?
Definitely.
Do the characters suck?
Balls.
Should you watch it?
Hell yeah. It makes for a good laugh, and you can feel less ashamed by anything that you do. At least you haven't spent your time working on this anime.

Mod Edit: This review was original posted for Sayonara Bye-bye and has subsequently been merged into Bakemono Recchan/Kinoko Takenoko: Asano Inio Tanpenshuu.
Ever since I read Subarashii Sekai, Asano Inio became my favorite mangaka. He has a gift for short and emotional stories, and I love that.
This one-shot is about a neet brother and a fushoji sister, who don't seem to get along. The sister is married to a good man, but he has politic views that differ from that of her brother's, and that's why he can't stand his sister's marriage.
This one-shot focuses on an episode of their life after the brother trashed the
...
house. They have a little chat about politics, her mother's mental state and the sister's husband. What can be so great about it?
What makes this so good is that it is so real. The characters do seem to have a life beyond this one-shot, and Inio makes it seem so with little effort. That is what makes Asano Inio one of the best mangaka I have ever come across, the fact that his characters seem so three-dimensional in a span of one or two chapters.

It's been a while since I have written a review, but I felt the need to do so for Baccano. It stands out from the crowd due to it's disjointed action, but I like how everything makes so much sense in the end.
Story: 10/10
Baccano isn't just a simple anime. It is a puzzle. You are given different storylines, and you have to figure out how these are intertwined. It makes Baccano really hard to recommend tho, because it is hard to say what this anime is about. Baccano covers so many topics, and, sadly, some of them remain undeveloped. The narrative is Baccano's strongest feature,
...
because I guess that is the only one can blend many different stories, without bothering so much with long-ass exposition. The main purpose of Baccano isn't to flesh out perfectly so many different stories, but to make them work together as a greater story.
Art: 6/10
It was...ok? I don't know, I really liked the character design, though it could have been better. The animation is pretty wacky now and then.
Sound: 10/10
Oh my God, this soundtrack is truly amazing. Not only the opening, but the whole soundtrack. Easily one of my top 10 soundtracks.
Character: 9/10
I really liked most of the character of Baccano. Except for Szilard. Fuck him. Most of the characters have unique traits, and there are some of them that show such a great character development, like Ennis, Czeslaw and, surprisingly, Ladd. I really, really loved Miria and Isaac's weird chemistry, and Jacuzzi's evolution. Sadly, there are some characters, such as Nice, Chane and Rachel, that are too left out. I really want to know more about them. And about Claire too. I hope that the specials will show more of them.
Enjoyment: 10/10
Baccano is pretty enjoyable, though it's confusing at first. It takes a while for the viewer to get accustomed with the characters and the strange narrative, but once he does, it is pretty hard not to love Baccano.
Overall: 9/10
Baccano is a great show, with various characters, a great soundtrack and a much greater story to tell. So embark on The Flying Pussyfoot (i still laugh when reading this train's name) and watch how the stories evolve. And try not to get killed.

Death Parade is one of those series that basically hits you from the first episode. It has its flaws, as every anime does, but the charm of it is so persistent that it is almost haunting.
Story: 9/10
Without spoiling anything, I will say that this story is interesting and outstanding, and it hits you where it hurts the most. Yet, we don`t get a clear background about the world where the action takes place into. We know that people who die at the same time are sent to Quindecim, which is a bar where they find out whether they will go to the void or reincarnate
...
by playing a game that`s meant to drag out the darkness of their souls. In Death Billiards, which is kind of a prequel for this series, Decim, the bartender, says that there are exceptions. What actually happens to those exceptions? How was the Quindecim built, what happens with the aborted children or people who died too young to be judged by playing a game? How many arbiters are there, what is that valley where Nona and Quin once drank and talked about Decim?
Art: 10/10
The art of this anime is absolutely amazing. There are little mistakes, too unimportant to actually matter. From the peculiar, yet charming character design to those incredibly well done backgrounds, this anime gets a well-deserved 10 for the art.
Sound: 10/10
Another thing that this anime totally nails is the intro. I could never skip the intro because goddamnit, isn`t this one of the catchiest intros out there? The intro just brings out the personality of every character so well, while the outro is often time sorrowful and beautiful, just like ending of the episodes and the series itself.
Character: 9/10
The only bad thing about the characters of this show is that some of them don`t get enough backstory, but the main characters evolve so beautifully, and even the episodic character get a kind of character development that makes them nearly unforgettable, because, during one episode, we get to see almost everything that defines that character.
Enjoyment: 10/10
Definitely one of the most enjoyable anime I have watched so far and it definitely is worth trying out.
Overall: 10/10
I can hope for a new season to clear out some of the mysteries of this series, but, overall, it is simply amazing and deep and insightful, with a great artwork and an amazing soundtrack, wonderful characters and a unique story.

Story: 8/10
The premise is really interesting and cool, but I gotta say that the ending just fucked up everything. It just felt so fake and it did not fit at all, in my opinion. If it wasn`t for the ending, this anime would have had a better story. I mean, if it all stopped at the 23 episode, it would have been better.
Art: 9/10
Just the usual character design and shit. But the Gehenna Gate looked gorgeous and was well animated. It is a great animation, not outstanding.
Sound: 7/10
The second intro is not the first intro. That sums it all up.
Character: 6/10
So, we have a wide
...
range of characters. Some of them are cool and make the story better, while other ones are... just... there...
Rin: Ah, such a nice edgy demon child, isn`t he? Rin is goofy, obnoxious and full of shitty teenage angst that makes him cringy as fuck at times, but when he`s not that annoying, he`s a nice character.
Yukio: Here we have Mr. Perfect, who shouldn`t be such a stiff butt. Intelligent, charming, coy, Yukio Okumura is bond to steal fangilrs` heart over.
Sheimi: SHE JUST SITS THERE AND DOES VERY LITTLE JUST HOW THE HELL IS SHE RELEVANT TO THE PLOT? Thanks God there had not been a love triangle between the Okumura brothers and her, because I would have dropped this anime. Shiemi is one of the characters I just can`t stand because she is way too weak, whiny and completely useless. Ok, not actually completely, but, besides Rin and Yukio slightly crushing on her and two or three times when she saved the day, I just find her completely useless. Nice boobs tho
Mephisto Pheles: Dude, I love this guy. He is a bit goofy, but in a stylish way, he has an intriguing backstory and he is one of the most likeable characters of this show. Hell, I would watch an anime just about Mephisto, that`s how cool he is.
Shura: Another great character of this show, this badass hot chick is ready to serve equal amounts of cool fights, comedy and fanservice. Ah,how could one not love Shura. She reminds me of Haruko from FLCL.
Fujimoto Shirou: This dude is BURNING hot ;););) yeee shitty joke. No, seriously, Shirou looks extremely hot and he is another great and valuable character of this show, one of the greatest Exorcist, The Paladin, he is just great.
These are the characters that I liked and I consider to be relevant or important. The rest of the characters are ok, but just the usual gang.
Enjoyment: 9/10
I like the vibe of this show. To me, it feels like watching Noragami, Fullmetal Alchemist and Supernatural at the same time. The only thing that I didn`t like about it is that the first half of each episode is just so boring, while the last five or ten minutes are actually exciting. Just distribute the excitement all over, goddamnit!
Overall: 8/10
It is a very good anime, but it stays into the boundaries set by the shounen genre. Don`t get me wrong, I love shounen stuff, but, after watching a bunch of shounen series, things get easily predictable because oh wow, plot armor. Can you please let the characters struggle a little?
