Japan S(t)inks is probably one of the confusing animes I've watched in the recent years.
Contains spoilers.
Story (1):
The story first shows promise on the first episode, then quickly goes down the drain. Many parts of the story are quickly thrown in just to thrown out (people falling from the sky).
The anime tries to add many themes (culture, family, earthquakes); however, with only 10 episodes there was no way to expand on these themes so it all becomes a convoluted story.
Murphy's law was also in play in this anime. Characters quickly introduced would be just as quickly killed off.
Art (5):
Sometimes the animation becomes
...
terrible and laughable. The art style is similar to other shows from Science SARU such as Ping Pong the Animation.
Sound (7):
Some OSTs were really good, however I feel some were out of place. Cheerful music would be used after a character dies and serious scenes throwing off the mood of the scene.
Character (5):
Some of the characters were really annoying and their motives were confusing.
Go, one of the main protagonists would keep throwing in random English words in his speech, sounding like cringe weeaboos using Japanese words like desu, senpai.
Ayumu another protagonist was also annoying always complaining about something.
Kite, the number 1 YouTuber suddenly decides to join the protagonists without ever knowing knowing the reason why.
Haruo was one edgy kid who barely talks in the anime, having a sudden change of personality half-way through the anime.
Enjoyment (3):
I spent a good amount of time laughing at this anime, despite it supposedly being serious. I couldn't take it seriously as I did not feel any emotional attachment to the one dimensional characters.
Overall (3):
If you turn your brain off and do not take it too seriously you'll enjoy it. I should've dropped it after episode 3, but it was so bad I had to keep watching it to see where the ending would go.

tl;dr: Very pretty animations with a mediocre plot and terribly written characters.
Contains spoilers about the movie.
Story: 5
The story is pretty generic and cliche. A girl is able to transform into a cat because of a mask from a fat cat and finds the love of her life. She tries her best to be cheerful around him because he seems to be going through some hardships; however, the guy takes it for granted and tries to ignore her for the majority of the story.
After watching the first 30 minutes, you can easily predict where the story is going.
Art: 7
It was nothing special, I would
...
say it's pretty unique.
Sound: 7
Nothing special, there was a good song in the movie.
Characters: 3
Almost every character in this movie was terrible and unrealistic.
The main character Miyo is probably the biggest simp ever. The things she does for a guy that tries his best to ignore her. She decides to jump off a bridge of the school headfirst into a tree to tell the 2 bullies that assumed Hinode was cheating on exams, because he was suddenly getting better grades. Later on, she decides to transform into a cat after deciding he'll probably like her more as a cat without ever considering the consequences (other friend that loves her and even cried when Hinode rejects her and that her family will probably miss her).
Hinode was the biggest asshole ever. Just because he wanted to be a tsundere, and ignore all the advances of the girl. However, when he's with Taro (cat) he tells how much he loves the cat and that's his "real" emotions. After rejecting Miyo and her feelings she spent all night writing in a letter, in just 1 week he suddenly changes his mind and decides he loves her.
Enjoyment: 5
Aside from the unique artstyle and easy to understand story, there was not much I enjoyed about the movie.
Overall: 5
You may enjoy it if you enjoy a simple and cute story, however I did not. There are probably better romance movies to watch with a supernatural theme.

tl;dr: Good premise and amazing beginning and middle, only to be concluded with a terribly rushed ending.
Contains spoilers about ending.
Story: 6
What started off as a strong and seemingly realistic slice-of-life with some romance elements turned into one of the worst and rushed romance shows ever.
Our MC, Rikuo spends his days working as a part-time worker still crushing on a girl who has already rejected him once.
After 10 grueling episodes of a terrible love triangle, Rikuo and Shinako get into a relationship, and after dating for 3 months off-screen with no progression (even hand-holding was off limits), they eventually realize it would never work
...
and break it off.
The last 5 minutes of the show showed Rikuo crawling back into Haru and supposedly having a happy ending, and Shinako crawling back to Rou. Miraculously it is assumed even, after 3 months the Haru would still be interested in Rikuo and would end in a happy relationship.
Art: 8
Very good art, where the unique art style helps depict the slow pace of the anime.
Sound: 7
Pretty good soundtracks here and there, nothing memorable though.
Characters: 6
Almost every character is unbearable to deal with except Haru. It amazes me how around 24 year olds act like they are still teenagers. Rikuo should have given up his relationship with Shinako after she initially rejects him, yet he continues to pursue this toxic crush. Shinako being the nice girl she is, being unable to confront Rikuo, keeps teasing a potential relationship. Rou is an obsessed teenager over his childhood crush despite her being a teacher. Haru is the only good character in this show, carrying this show hard. Her maturity and attentiveness towards characters was amazing and she shows she truly cares for the characters, as she was able to notice the smallest change in a character's personality and digs deep. Aside from Haru, the side characters were way better developed than the 3 main cast, as there was little to no character development from episode 1 to 12.
The characters feel so shallow, as none of them ever confront each other for any of the mistakes they make, making the show feel like a ticking time bomb.
Enjoyment: 7
The ending left a bitter taste in my mouth, but I really enjoyed the first 6 episodes.
Overall: 7
Had it not been for Haru being the amazing character she was, this show would have been terrible.

tl;dr: Robinhood the anime.
Contains mild spoilers, only watched 14 episodes as of this review.
Story: 7
The show is broken up apart in different arcs, lasting 4-5 episodes.
After the first arc, viewers will notice a similar formula is applied to each arc, making them cliche and easily predictable. The only thing that is not predictable is how they resolve the issue.
I consider the first arc the best one deserving a score of 8/9, because of how they used the surprise element; however, the magic quickly wears off with each succeeding arc.
Each arc is easily summarized as a corrupt rich person who is caught taking advantage of something,
...
followed by a tragic backstory from one of the main cast as the arc goes on, and ending with the rich person getting conned by our main cast.
Art: 8
Fluid animation, and very vibrant colors.
Sound: 10
Outstanding performance from the sound department. With a jazzing opening to an ending by Freddie Mercury, the anime has outdone itself. Each arc seems to have a different English song associated with it.
Characters: 7
The characters seem to be pretty simple, with each of them having a tragic backstory.
We have Edamura who's the MC that believes in "justice" and wants to do honest work; however, always roped in each crime. Laurent, who's a mastermind playing 4D Chess and somehow always is pulling the strings. Abigail who's a superhuman.
Enjoyment: 7
The first arc was a banger, with twists everywhere; but, as the story started going downhill, I was enjoying the anime less and less.
Overall: 7
Going to keep watching to see where it goes, but even if the story does not improve, the music more than makes up for it.

tl;dr: Great comedy, with a deeper, darker plot near the end making the show from good to great.
- Story (8/10)
A comedic story of how a father is embarrassed of being a manga artist and does everything to hide it from his 10-year-old daughter. Near the end of each episode, it is revealed that everything that is a flashback, leaving watchers intrigued to learn what happened.
Everything is revealed at the last episode, and although it was a little rushed, it tied up all loose ends the show has.
- Art (8/10)
If you watched SZS, it has the same art style. Honestly, the art style unique
...
with the simplistic designs. I do wish the girls would have noses though.
- Sound (8/10)
The OP is a banger.
- Characters (9/10)
Each character was memorable, and had a purpose in making me laugh. Despite their being character gags being somewhat repetitive, I never got bored of the character interaction.
- Enjoyment (9/10)
Really enjoyed this simple story, and the mystery of what happened in the end also helped make me come back every week, trying to piece what happened.
- Overall (9/10)
An underrated gem from this season, that people should check out. The last episode might make you cry, and this was a beautiful anime tying comedy with a hint of tragedy. Even the manga artist believes everyone should watch the show over reading the manga.

tl;dr: If you watch the TV series, this is probably a waste of time. If you have not, it's a pretty cute short movie to watch and to show the beauty of Little Witch Academia. Going to compare TV series and this.
- Story (6/10)
Pretty simple story about a girl (Akko) inspired by a magic show to become a witch. This is basically the same premise as the TV series, and while both series make Akko seem like the worst witch ever, the TV series expands on the reason.
- Art (8/10)
I have a bias for TRIGGER, so I love their art style. The animation
...
is similar to the TV series.
- Sound (7/10)
There was nothing memorable here.
- Characters (6/10)
Because this was a 23 minute OVA, there was not much room for character development. However, you are able to get a sense of each character's personality. In comparison, the TV series was able to expand on each character, being it was 24 times longer.
- Enjoyment (7/10)
It was a simple story, just showing the daily lives of what witches do. There was a conflict near the end, which was easily resolved.
- Overall (7/10)
Pretty good show to remind me of the beauty of Little Witch Academia; however, I would highly recommend watching the TV show if you have the time.

tl;dr: Watch if you like good animation, the most unrealistic hacking, and a super cliche story.
Contains spoilers.
- Story (3/10)
Unrealistic premise, we learn from the beginning about the OZ system which is basically VRChat with customizable avatars, however we learn how it's an important part of our lives allowing us to even file our taxes there. It has the most "advance security in the World," but we all know what happens when a show boasts things like this. So to our surprise, the system gets hacked by an AI, and the way to beat it was to fight it like some MMO.
After the system gets
...
hacked, naturally the people to resolve it would be some teenager who's on his laptop 24/7, and some high school kid who's good at math.
The ending was laughable because all it took in the end was some silly card game, which we never learn the rules too, and of course the AI loses. Of course the AI gets mad and decides to drop a nuke on the MC, which gets resolved with like 5 minutes left, wow!
- Art (8/10)
If you enjoyed Wolf Children, The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, or any movie from Mamoru Hosoda, then you'll enjoy the art.
- Sound (7/10)
Nothing memorable here.
- Characters (5/10)
Despite introducing over 10 characters all in a family the only memorable ones was the MC who does nothing until the last 5 minutes, some edgy kid who's somehow a super hacker, the female MC who has an uncle complex, the uncle which for some reason everyone hates, and the grandma. The characters do the most stupid things such as shunning the uncle for developing the AI, even though it was the military who deployed it as an "experiment."
- Enjoyment (4/10)
I did not enjoy this movie at all, and should have dropped it half-way. Maybe you'll like it if you know nothing about computers.
- Overall (4/10)
Terrible movie, and easily forgettable. Maybe I'm dumb but there was suppose to be a theme of family and baseball or something.
