Oretama is a borderline hentai comedy anime that revolves around the life of a 19-year-old virgin Kouta, who unfortunately gets involved in a battle between angels and devils and comically get's a high ranking demon stuck in his balls. We experience Kouta's wacky life as he tries to maintain abstinence for the next 30 days while getting involved in the highest number of sexual situations in his life.
Story 6/10
The story of Oretama is extremely raunchy and funny. It's basically just the author doing his best to include varying sex scenes into the manga. While the writing is sloppy and unbearable in some places, I find
...
the plain dialogue forgivable because it is easier to read fast and bad explanations of some plot points forgivable given the length of the story. I will say the story, while novel and enjoyable, is pretty basic in terms of writing strength but is one of the stronger points of the manga.
Characters 6/10
While Kouta might be a bit annoying at times, I found his character to be acceptable. The cast of main characters are pretty basic but funny in their way and new characters are always introduced to keep things lively. The characters certainly weren't stellar but had their quirks to them which I found quite humorous.
Art 6/10
It definitely could have been better but there are no real complaints here.
It was a bit too raunchy at some points, but it had to convey the story somehow.
Enjoyment 6/10
As filthy as this manga was, I found it somewhat enjoyable and comical at some points. While reading slowly and paying attention to "detail" towards the end was not my goal as I was just trying to get it over with, I found the ending satisfactory (given how much time I'd invested) and thought it was ok.
Overall, Oretama was a decently enjoyable read. It had a unique story and some enjoyable comedy. 6/10

# SPOILER ALERT
This review is my first and was written only after my first watch. I do not consider myself to be a very attentive watcher or sound critic of art forms as I usually get absorbed into them and pay attention neither to the story, nor details such as names of the characters, but rather to the feelings conveyed in each episode by the characters and use that to understand what is happening. As such, this review might be quite shallow. I don't expect anyone to read this anyway.
I wrote this review right after watching it so a bit of recency bias
...
might be at play here but honestly in this case it's well deserved. I found this anime to be extremely emotional because of the perfect synthesis of the story, the music and the animation.
not only because of the plot and the unrequited love but also because of the overall effect of the beauty of the music, the story and the animation.
Story 10/10
The story, or at least my interpretation of it, is about a boy; his life without colour, depressed, lost and with a drained passion, and how he finds someone who lifts him up, takes him out of his slump, reignites his passion and shows him the truth, the beauty and the sound of music.
It is one of strife, rediscovery, and growth. It shows us that the obstacle is the way and also shows us how extraordinary we can be through consistent effort. We see this in the parts where Kousei is abused by his mother and loses the ability to hear himself play. This was an obstacle which, through effort, Kousei took advantage of, granting him the supernatural ability to express himself, his thoughts, emotions, wholly through music without having to dilute his message through songs or notes. To experience something like this is really motivational and inspirational and leaves you with a feeling of purpose, energy and a belief in the ability to make a dent in the universe. We also see the struggle, the gret, the loss of hope in those that didn’t make it.
The romance theme of this anime consists mainly of heartbreaking unrequited teenage love. We basically have a situation where Tsubaki likes Kousei, Ryouta likes Kaori, Kaori likes Kousei and Kousei ends up liking Kaori. Nothing too complex. This is not to downplay the depth of the relationship between Kaori and Kousei which ends up making the ending all the more emotional.
Art 10/10
I really have a thing for springtime animes and I love the colour pink and just environmental art in general. Especially the works of Mikoto Shinkai where even just the environment and its transformations are enough to make you cry. I also love the contextual meaning of springtime and how it hints at the time of blooming for our protagonist.
Sound/Music 10/10
The music was excellent. I have truly not connected with any piece of music as much as I have in this anime. Each note, each chord, says something so deep and profound and communicates with the listener on a deeper level than words could. Couple this with the prose and the animation it made for an incredible coalescence that was just so deep and beautiful.
Characters 10/10
In all honesty, beyond Arima, Kaori and maybe the contestants, the character development wasn't that great. But where it truly mattered, it was wonderful.
Growth and hard work were really strong themes in the lives of Arima, Hiroko and Takeshi and were excellently tackled. Arima went through a lot to become as good as he did and had to break out of his former monotonous unloving self into a vibrant human being with a true love for music. Hiroko and Takeshi had to go through a lot of training to compete with Arima. Music is no easy ordeal and increasing in skill level takes an extraordinary amount of practice but these characters devoted the time, effort, sweat, blood and tears required. There are also strong elements of character growth and development in Nagi whom Arima tutored.
Enjoyment 10/10
I really enjoyed this anime unlike any other. It was just the most perfect combination of sound, story and animation I have ever witnessed.
Overall 10/10
Your Lie in April is a masterpiece animation about music, self-discovery, hard work and romance. It is definitely a great watch, has nicely fleshed out protagonists, a good story, and amazing art and music to go with it.

Golden Boy is a comedy anime that follows the life of a dropout college law student, Kintarou Oe, who, after mastering the law curriculum, dropped out to explore the world in search of knowledge. As noble a pursuit as that may be, he is continuously sidetracked by beautiful women and we get to see the comedy that ensues in each of these situations.
Story 8/10
The story of this anime is pretty good. Even with changing locations and characters in every episode, it’s still very enjoyable. The new environments draw you in with their own stories and characters and provide room for newer jokes. Nothing is
...
ever stale due to the constant change, only our protagonist is at times repetitive. The episodic stories, seemingly disconnected, do come together nicely towards the end albeit in a forced manner, but still enjoyable.
Art/Animation 7/10
The animation is quite good. I like the feel of old anime so I potentially enjoyed it more than the average viewer. I loved the level of detail in the characters' faces and bodies (this you will surely appreciate when watching ;) ) and have no complaints about the background and the animation.
Sound 5/10
It wasn’t great. The OPs and EDs are hardly captivating and are forgettable. Besides that, nothing comes to mind.
Characters 8/10
The characters and their stories are pretty good. The two things I can highly commend the anime on, short as it is, are the characters and story. I didn’t find the story lacking or the characters without definition. They weren't just some mindless husks and had believable backstories. Their dynamics and interactions are also good. A lot of the comedy presented in this show came just from understanding the characters.
Enjoyment 7/10
Honestly, I’m not sure where I stand on this. When I watched it, I couldn’t bring myself to enjoy it as much because as lovable and funny a character as Kintaro might be, he tended to be a tad bit annoying at times. But in retrospect, it seems like a pretty enjoyable show. The ecchi is fantastic and coupled with the comedy and story in a way that doesn’t feel like mindless fanservice and that just boosts the enjoyment rating.
Overall 7/10
Golden Boy is pretty solid. The story, characters, comedy and ecchi are sure to provide an enjoyable experience potentially even more enjoyable than mine was given how you perceive Kintaro Oe.

I was expecting more from this.
I came in watching Maquia with some expectation of feeling somehing or unraveling some deeper meaning but came away bored and uninterested.
The characters are average, the coincidences stem from the weakness of the writer to create more characters or formulate more organic ways for path to cross again. The dialogue was pretty horrible and too simplistic. The story had steady progression albeit slow but suddenly became discontinuous towards the end. Some weak phrases were thrown around with a feeble attempt to sound like words of wisdom. The only one that even came close to words of common sense was "To
...
love is to be alone".
I could have forgiven all this too if it had a better ending but the story was too weak from the start. The animation was good and the sound was bearable but the story left much to be desired.

#SPOILER ALERT
I feel as though I have outgrown this kind of anime.
Ihe story itself is completely horrible. i couldn't care enough for the wimpy kid who decides (or didn't decide as he says) to be an observer in his own world, documenting the activities of others,
or the fucking God of time and space who is about to die so he decides to select 12 losers who keep journals to fight against one another for the throne. I can't rationalize that. maybe because they keep diaries they are keepers of time in their own way?
Anyway, I couldn't really give a shit about the story. For
...
the characters, fucking hated the MC. Only interesting character was the intelligent psychopath Yuno.
I don't really have anything else to say about this anime. All in all i think it deserves no more than 5/10 because that's how bad anime is these days. But for my personal rating I'm giving it a 4/10.

Nothing extraordinarily intelligent happened.
But then again after watching it to the end I realized this series wasn't really about displaying intelligence.
When i first started this series I was expecting something closely related to death note. I don't know why but I thought these smart children would be able to amaze me with their intelligence. Yes there was some thinking ahead and strategy involved but really anyone in such situations who put some time into thought would be able to make these same choices. I did like puzzling out what was going to happen next and the overall effects of their actions but besides that
...
I couldn't derive any more enjoyment from the first 10 episodes of the series. There were no strong emotions displayed and I didn't really feel for the characters.
But the last two episodes is where things really began to kick in. Strong emotions kicked in and really affected me. I began to feel more for some of the characters.
The one person I truly feel for in this anime is the Mother. I feel that the emotions of the children are petty compared to hers. I really sympathize with her and her backstory.
And the music really tied everything together beautifully. If I decide to watch S2, it will only be because of the developments that occurred in the 11th and 12th episodes
and mostly because I'm interested in the Mother's backstory.

Story -> 5/10
I feel like the story of this anime was lacking and there wasn't much depth so I'll give it a 5/10 in that department.
Characters -> 4/10
The characters felt too underdeveloped and I couldn't find myself connecting with them.
I really didn't care for some of the characters. They could have done a better job in that department
Animation, Fighting Scenes -> 9/10
This was the original reason I decided to watch this anime and I glad to say I am not disappointed in this department at least. I personally haven't watched a lot of old anime but I love the old-school vibe it
...
gives off (I doubt everyone will feel this way and I might even be wrong) and I really liked the fighting scenes so I'll give the show a 9/10 in the animation department.
