This one's surely wasn't under my radar only. Every now and then we get a glimpse of great piece of media brought out within the anime and manga world.
The story starts of with two young main characters living in a world that seems like that of a survival world where most of the people are dead or live under difficult circumstances created by great danger. It's very interesting to see how amazingly the characters are presented and introduced and how great the storytelling immediately is ultimately catching the viewer that hence get's invested in the show. The art style is amazing too with showing ... landscapes in a great way absolutely fitting to the story and the surroundings shown.
It's note worthy that a great premise, a great start to an that also feels fresh(!) like something that you haven't seen before even if there's quite some piece of work within the survival theme. The pacing feels also perfectly fitting like there isn't any moment within the first 3 episodes that seems out of line everything to the last shot feels somewhat perfected. The soundtrack also isn't lacking the quality that this anime has in the other points mentionend fitting the atmosphere very nicely.
Until this point it definitely is a great show and is definitely not talked about enough yet. This will surely catch many people's attention throughout it's airing time and hopefully fullfills the expectations that this anime up until now created itself.

This is a really tough one to be honest cause I finished the show with mixed feelings. The first season of Hamatora was pretty mediocre when you ask me it lacked many things that would help the anime standing out in front of others. The storyline was really not that clear in terms of understanding as well as being confusing at points. To conclude my little foreword about the first season I really didn't have high expectations about the second season so maybe that is the reason why I enjoyed the second season much more.

Story: 7/10
The story is actually split up as I ... would call it because although you get left with a huge cliffhanger at the end of season 1 the second season tells it's own story or maybe you could call it a successor. This really bothers me for the sake of the first season that we as the viewers didn't really get a conclusion about basically anything. Regarding the second season it feels a little bit similar in many points but surely not in the extent as in comparison to season 1. The reason I found the storyline good this time apart from not few cases is that the story followed an idea that was executed solidly and left me in really enjoying how the next episode could possibly look like or what happens next. Also keep in mind that it's a huge improvement in comparison to the first season which also weighs heavily on my impression.

Art: 6/10
Regarding this I don't think that there could possibly be much to talk about but I think the Art was quite nice but again not outstandingly astonishing or something in those categories but still pretty decent. In some scenes it seemed to me that the Art is cheaply made e.g at cutsences although they probably wanted it to appear like that.

Sound: 6/10:
I really only gave six out of ten for this one because the music altogether wasn't bad but in a certain extent also wasn't appealing to me. Nevertheless, I think the music matched the Anime pretty well and I also want to point out the openings and endings at this point that are really nice sounding tracks that also have a supportive character for this Anime

Characters: 7/10
I think all in all there were enough characters to be one the one hand despicable and on the other to be really likeable like our Hamatora crew that really united a variiety of different chacarters and also each and every other character who was fighting e.g for his or her's goals and ideals. Admittably said there was not that much character development which isn't even bad because many things in the storyline had many connections to the past so there was no reason for the characters to develop to a certain extent.

Enjoyment: 7/10
If you managed to keep up and decided to watch the second season after the rather mediocre season 1 and also hopefully don't have to high anticipation chances are you really enjoy the second season to a certain amount.

Overall: 7/10
Last but not least, do I recommend watching this? As written under Enjyoment you have to watch the first season to get to the good part which is this season but I think the normal Anime audience will have some fun watching this.

Through pure coincidence I found out that this promotional video or what I thought to be just a fanmade video on youtube (yeah I watched this ONA a few years ago) is actually in the database of myanimelist. I thougt ''Why not let's rewatch this 11 minute thingy and''... yeah it's nearly exactly as I remembered it to be.

It's just a promotional video for entertainment reasons with some comedy and funny things going on in a mansion which Chip and Sonic enter as a shelter from the thunderstorm that is going on outside. I guess it's primarly made for a younger audience but you ... won't regret giving this episode a try especially when you're a Sonic fan and actually have played Sonic Unleashed (played it for the first time in 2011). There's nothing much to point out despite the outstanding and awesome artwork and animation which to my surprise really dates back to 2008.

So... is this ONA worth to be watched? Sure why not give it a try but don't go in it with high expectations... really it's just a promotional video which fits the energy of those cutsences and clips from the game itself especially when it comes to comedy and entertainment.

So overall for me because I'm a Sonic fan since my childhood to this day and also think Sonic Unleashed is one of the best Sonic games out there this rates for me as:

This review at most contains maybe a few minor spoilers here and there but I try my best to avoid them.
So This is actually the first review that I write on an anime but I think I have good reasons for this one because for me personally this anime was not worth the time watching. Remember this is an review but also my own opinion so you might not agree with me even in the slightest but that's alright.

Story (3/10)
While I found the story relatively poor and despite still having hopes after the 3 and 4 episode that something might start hapenning I was ... basically smashed in my face by how the story turned out to continue. Don't get me wrong an anime and it's story doesn't have to start out right in the beginning to a point where it is unbelievably intense and interesting but the problem that I had was that I didn't really had an idea what the story and the idea of the anime was. This leads to the point for me that I still don't get why only in the last episodes there are scenes that contain really much of a story but in the beginning everything that might help in understanding the story line and what the characters are doing is lacking completely. And again I'm not considering the lack of information about the characters and how they actually came into this world problematic but rather that for me personally they are just thrown into some scenes where they fight those goblins where I started thinking alright I already get the point that they are weak and stuff like this but this was rather difficult to watch due to the fact that it really didn't lead to anything. In essence I'm trying to say that there was potential in e.g showing more of how they got their abillities rather than the really resembling hopeless and helpless situations regarding the fights with the goblins over and over againg. All in All it resembless the first season of sword art online where the potential for a really nice storyline was just thrown away by skipping the probably most interesting parts and in Hai to gensou no grimgar there are for me really parts that are lacking and parts that are shown way too much which really make the story uninteresting and not really worth watching at the end of the day.

Art (6/10)
The art is actually quite alright nothing overly good but also not bad I think it just fits the setting and emotion and also probably this theme of a party with different characters filling different roles so on this Aspect I wouldn't say it's bad nor it's overly good. Just fitting art to the anime itself

Sound (6/10)
Same goes for the soundtrack of the anime. It fulfils it's role and is really nice in certain emotional moments and also in fights and in between it's also enjoyable but again it's nothing extraordinary where I would say you definitely have to listen closely because e.g it's really connected and attached to the scenes I would rather instead say that the soundtracks and sounds are helping this anime together with the art to make it more enjoyable for us viewers.

Character (4/10)
Without going too much into detail it definitely is one of the main aspects along with the story that really makes this anime not enjoyable for me personally. There's some really enjoyable characters on the one hand but on the other hand characters that really left me in disbelief on how bad they were regarding their personality. I assume the majority wasn't disturbed by the fact that some characters and one character espacially are really disturbing the story. This and other reasons regarding the characters in the story itself are the reason for my bad rating regarding this aspect although there still are really enjoyable characters

All this aspects left me really not enjoying this anime all too much at the End but still it's a personal opinion and I can understand why many of the people who watched Hai to gensou no grimgar enjoyed the anime to certain points.
