Life-changing anime. (Spoiler Free, TDLR at bottom)
Of 13+ years watching anime Sousou no Frieren is the first, and perhaps only anime ever to make me write a review.
The story is about a very old Elf and her adventures with mostly humans who live only a fraction of her age.
Although this season of the anime takes place over a few years, the 28 episodes feels as if 1000 years of in-depth story is told.
The author tells the story in a beautiful manner. It does not feel rushed despite having such a vast amount of content and world building.
The story unfolds very naturally, with almost every

character you meet being explored in a touching way, with each character being unique and adding to the story.
Excluding the story, the animation follows the story in paying attention to small details. Small objects such as earrings glistening, grass and flora, characters in the background are all animated. It is as if the animators were working on this for 20 years.
The music also suits the anime very well, with some of the arrangements being quite beautiful on their own. This is to be expected from hiring Evan Call.
For those who don't like the show that is OK. I did not like Shakespeare's works in school. But after watching this show, I finally got some understanding as to why his works are regarded as masterpieces.
TLDR: This show is like an amazing fantasy book, but you get to watch it with quality animation and music by Evan Call. If you ever feel lost in life, simply watch this show and look for a character you can relate to. There is no guarantee, you might get some meaning out of life from doing so.
