Mixed Feelings

This show deals with a uncommon topic: rural life. More specifically, the farmer's life. This is very cool, because you don't expect this subject to be dealt with in a romantic comedy. On the other hand, It's not a great show in general terms.

Story/Idea (7/10)
The story is the best one in this series. I already said that the subject is uncommon. Well, It does not delve much on the aspects of a farmer's life, but when it does, it does it very well. The way in which some things are explained is funny and lighthearted, without too many complex details.
On the other hand, ... the series is about a love triangle (and a weird love triangle at that), between the protagonist named Kousaku, the idol whom the protagonist loves named Ringo and the protagonist's childhood friend named Minori. The romantic interest of the protagonist is evident. At the start of the series, Kousaku doesn't show any interest in the advances of his friend. Throughout the story he shows his love to Ringo, but even so he can't make a decision at the end. Well... I couldn't expect anything else from a typical story about a love triangle, but even so...
The other important aspect is the comedy. Most of the show is comedy… clichéd comedy. The sexual jokes are very frequent and some-times there's meta-jokes about this. I didn't like the most of the comedy in this show, it was very stereotypical.

Art/Style/Animation (7/10)
It's not bad, but it's not good either. The characters have an interesting style, I really liked their eyes. But at times the elements of their bodies were very artificial, as if they were in the wrong place. The design of some characters is made by fanservice and this is not bad for a show in this genre.
The backgrounds and the settings are beautiful. Mainly the panoramics scenes.

Sound (6/10)
It's not very good, but good enough (or efficient, maybe). The opening and endings are not the greatest thing, but are funny and nice to listen to.

Characters (6/10)
The characters have the common tropes for this kind of stories. Their personalities don't stand out. Even so, the main character has excellent moments where they really do a good job developing his personality.
A similar thing happens with Ringo. This character is the most developed, although his role in the love triangle is a little forced.

Enjoyment (6/10)
In some chapters you want to drop it, but in some others you'll have fun. It's a show that's hard to enjoy, but it's not a bad show at all. Some chapters will surprise you.

Overall (6/10)
A common show with a uncommon subject. If this show had a different setting, I would not recommend watching it. But the rural and farming setting is a good subject to explore.

Bakemonogatari (Anime) add

Well... watching this was challenging for me. Monogatari series is an excellent work and the adaptation is awesome. The style and visual narrative are fantastic, but my problems are the dialogues and some of the characters.

Story (10/10)
The structure of the story is fascinating. It's a sequence of short arcs that follow the development of one character each. Some arcs are more interesting than others, but overall all are great. And, in some way, all the arcs converge in a big story centered around Araragi, but where each character is the protagonist of their own story.

Art/Style (10/10)
The animation is good, but it's the style and the ... visual narrative that are impressive. Watching this show is a bizarre experience. The scenery changes are a little confusing. The places are unreal, but with a lot of details that complement the visual narrative. It's a very strange world that feels like home. This is the most outstanding element of the series.

Sound (10/10)
A good style/animation is always complemented with a good soundtrack, and in the case of Bakemonogatari, the background music perfectly complements the scenes. The openings are very unique, each of them reflecting the arc.

Characters (8/10)
In this aspect, my review lost his perfect note. The characters are great, I'll admit, each having a well-defined personality. The voice actors do an excellent job in every line, but some characters can get annoying. The dialogues between some of these are very arrogant, too. It's as if the dialogues were made to bother you with endless turns and pseudo-reflexions.
I clarify that not all dialogues are like that. Some of them are remarkable and thought provoking. The references complement the lines perfectly. Yet, some characters and some lines can make the narrative very stressful.

Enjoyment (6/10)
The characters are only the beginning. Yes, the series is great, one of the best I have seen in years. But at the same time it's the most stresful show that I watched in years. I didn't enjoyed watching Bakemonogatari, even though I love almost all episodes. I would not watch this again, but I don't regret doing it.

Other aspects
Maybe it has too much fanservice for me, but it's a very well-done fanservice. It's not the common type of fanservice; not very explicit, but very erotical. Even so, I would prefer the show without any, as it's unnecessary for me.
The meta humor is very well-done, too. The jokes are hilarious, even if some of them are confusing. I smiled a lot watching it.
And my favorite characters are Kanbaru and Mayoi. Their interventions being comical and reflexive respectively.

Overall (9/10)
This is one of the best series that you can watch now, but the references and the storyline are not meant for everyone. You may not like this series (as you can find it stressful, like me), but I recommend giving it a shot.
