Canaan was a HUGE surprise for me. As I am familiar with TYPE-MOON I was a little bit worried when I heard about it, since two girls is not their normal choice of main characters, and I feared it may be some common Yuri anime with flashy action scenes and a little bit of science or religion (like they do). I was glad to find how wrong I was, as Canaan is both enjoyable and profound.
Story:
The story is kind of complicated, which is part of the enjoyment of the anime. you need to finish the anime to understand it. it does have some hardcore action
...
scenes that every action lover will enjoy, but they are all according to the plot. there is a perfect balance between story and action, so don't worry about it.
Art:
normal TYPE-MOON goodness. nothing left to say.
Sound:
same. I only wish that the song they hum would be louder.
Characters:
BEST CHARACTERS IN THE WORLD. Canaan is just a normal girl, and Alphard isn't perfect. usualy, the hero is so powerfull and gracefull that only wants to be a loser, or a loser who wants to be a hero, but Canaan is different. she doesn't want to change, she is so normal it hurts. even though she is a cold blooded killer, she is still just a confused little baby girl. Alphard on the other hand seems very mature and looks as if she has it all figured out, but her character is dramatically developed in the end, unlike most of villians.
Who would enjoy it:
smart people that love actions and boys who like hot girls fighting half naked.
Who won't:
shojo lovers, romance lovers, and people who don't like complicated plots.

Story:
the story is a little post-apocaliptic cliche, so some viewers might find it not really original. and yet, it will very much appeal to horror movies fans. if you're into zombies and stuff this is deffinitely the anime for you, since it doesn't get too much into the characters' feelings, it's more of a "let's go and kill the bad guys" kind of anime with a little romance and echii for show.
Art:
the art is really good, even though it's full of echii, its not just boobs. I won't go as far as to say that there are suffisticated shots there, but it's still drawn really

good, the style is really pleasing to the eyes.
Sound:
the sound is almost perfect. the voices fit perfectly to all the characters (even in english subs they did some well fits there, so it's not too bad), the background sounds add the mood when it's right, the op and end are a little sucky but other than that it's pretty good.
Characters:
the characters devide to two main groups. Great characters and horrible ones. even though most of the characters are very well-built and very original (especially Kouta, a chubby geek who is secretly a sadistic gun lover), a few of them feel like they are there to fill up holes and nothing more.
I reccomend to:
horror and action lovers and echii lovers
Don't watch if you are:
looking for a profound plot, romance lovers and people with sensitive stomaches.

Story - 3
I watched this movie twice, and I still don't get it. the plot is totaly poor, mixed up and has no conection to the anime.
Art - 5
The art of the anime was so good, so pretty, so cute. then came the movie. everything is suddenly so...not cute._.!!! the eyes looks really bad, Misuzu looks like twice Haruko's age, and wasn't Yukito bishie?
Sound - 6
nothing special, but I like some of the voice actors.
Characters - 1
I am not even going to start talking of how hopeless the characters became in this movie.

If you watched the anime, PLEASE do yourself a favor and don't watch this movie.
If you are not planning to watch the anime anyway, don't feel bad if you don't get a darned thing of it. you are not alone.

Story - 8
the plot is really good and easy to folow. people who likes super powers and stuff may find this anime extreamly interesting, comedy lovers will probably enjoy it too, and for the romantic people around the world - it's not the best anime you can pick, but you can still find it interesting. However, sometimes it feels like watching the same episode again and again. the creators seems to be not very creative about the ways a main character can get to a solution.

every single second of the anime is filled with colors and shapes that go together very well.

the characters look really good and everything is cedorated almost perfectly. even though, some characters looks too much like other characters, (I am not talking about MISAKA and Mikoto).

while Touma and Misaki both have awsome characters with story and all, other characters are being a bit left aside. the anime called to aru majutsu no INDEX, and Index's character is almost empty, plus some of the supporters have potential to be a very good characters, and they just forget about them, and it's too bad...
