tl:dr 6/10, forgettable protag, deranged plot, bad women's anatomy, but somehow still pretty fun, and if you like gruesome deaths, this has plenty of that.

So the art is very hit or miss in this. The way the artist draws women makes me think he hasn't seen a real woman in a long time. So be aware of that. The first half of this manga is pretty basic fare of run away from the thing that's gruesomely killing everyone, but once the plot gets going it gets... confusing and not always coherent, but enough to keep me entertained. Both the protagonist and antagonists ... feel pretty flat.

What works in this is they never forget that people are here to see people get ripped apart. Also it does seem like the author did remember all of his plot threads that he drops in this, and makes sure to pick them up and tie them up, even if the reasoning for how he does it is... questionable. And last major thing is I never really felt that this did the classic "sdo a flashback so they care right before I kill this underdeveloped character". Really at the end of all of this, the fights are fun to watch, and I enjoyed watching the character grow and overcome their challenges, or fail to do so.

tl;dr: 7/10. Not the most spectacular manga, very tropey shonen iwith a horror backdrop, but a lot of fun with a cool art style, bit of a rushed ending. I was not disappointed by spending my time on this.

I didn't expect to like Dolly Kill Kill as much as I did. The art feels very cartoonish at the start, but the artist does a really good job of adapting it to the genre and making it something you can take seriously. Really the biggest pitfalls with this manga are the plot felt rather rushed at times, and some of ... the larger plot threads of why things are happening like they are feel like they get mentioned and never explored at all. Power levels are ludicrously random and sporadic.

The good things about this: The art is really cool, and I liked the flow of the fight scenes. OVerall, the characters were appropriately developed (i.e., you're not just given backstory immediately before they die and you're not expected to care about the people with little screen time). The supernatural elements I felt were used consistently, and if they were used in a new way I never felt like it was out of left field

The tl;dr of this is 3/10, it's bad, don't waste your time, I have no idea how this ever got the score it has, unless this was A Lot of people's first manga.

If you've read just about any other manga you'll be able to tell that this is not good. The character building is third rate at best, the plot is barely extant, the antagonists are laughable and the protagonists are cardboard cutouts of tropes. There are constant hamfisted twists that make M. Night Shyamalan's recent works look like he's back in his prime.

The concept is decent, and the art in some of the ... fight scenes works. If you're solely here to watch bugs killing people and people killing bugs and don't care about caring about the outcome, then this is for you. Otherwise, don't read this. It doesn't deserve it.
