I already did write a review on Clannad almost 2 years back but I don't feel like I did Clannad or myself justice writing it in previous style. As such here is an updated review
Clannad is a marvellous anime. The story is fairly simple to understand at first glance which adds layers to its complexity slowly and gradually but not to the point where it becomes difficult to understand. If anything it makes it easier to appreciate all its elements. At its core, Clannad is a high school harem drama revolving around the life of Tomoya Okazaki, a delinquent as he ventures around school

seeking meaning in his life which is granted to him after a fateful encounter with our female lead, Nagisa Furukawa.
The characters are awesome and I love each and every one of them ranging from Tomoyo to Koumura. They each have something unique about them and have a story to tell. The characters may come across as boring to quiet a lot of people but their appeal is unquestionable.
The art style again may be off putting to a lot of people but to a me it's endearing and would love to see more works in similar art styles from Hinoe Itaru. The animation, backdrops and character designs are all really well done and visually appealing.
The soundtrack is one of the strongest I've ever had the pleasure of hearing. Tracks such as Country lane, The Town, Flow of time, People, Etudie Pour les etes and Return to Ashes are examples of how Clannad sets the mood for a scene. You know that when you hear Spring Breeze you're in time for a wholesome scene and you know when Shining in the sky is playing, that it's time to start reminiscing.
The story has its audience and I'm proud to be part of them. It follows a very simple path from the introductory arc to character arc 1 to character arc 2 to a few episodes catching up with all the characters and then the final arc. What makes it work so well is the content of the arc. They're all amazing and can be anyones favourites. My favourite arc included the first character arc which still to this day is one of my favourites. My favourite episodes include 3, 8, 9, 13, 17, 18, 19 and 22.
Overall, you can expect to fall in love with Clannad so long as you're already a fan of high school romance and drama shows. Clannad is not a good gateway into these types of shows though it can still work. It's been almost three years since my initial viewing and the many fond memories I hold of it are yet to wither.
